Al-Wakrah traditional market suffers from poor promotion

Doha: A number of vendors and traders of the traditional market in Al Wakrah called on stakeholders to promote the market, pointing out that the market is suffering from a recession due to weak demand two years after its opening.
They noted that the market offerings include vegetables, fruits, dates, margarine, spices and trip supplies such as grills and wood, as well as seedlings, agricultural materials, pottery and other supplies at competitive prices.
They assured Al Raya that the market includes 76 stores and only 20 of them are operating, which requires stakeholders to work on solutions to attract traders to operate the rest of the stores.
They demanded the placement of boards on Mesaieed road and Al-Wakrah aljadeed road to introduce the market place, especially to the residents of the areas of Muaither al-Wukair, Al-Wukair, Al-Meshaf and Al-Wakrah, pointing out that the fear of losses faces them due to the lack of demand despite their keenness to sell their goods at affordable prices and much lower than the prices of shops, as they sell at the same prices as the vegetable and fruit market in Al-Sailiya.

الدوحة: دعا عددٌ من البائعين وتجّار السوق الشعبي في الوكرة الجهات المعنيّة للترويج للسوق، لافتين إلى أن السوق يعاني الكساد نتيجة ضعف الإقبال رغم مرور عامين على افتتاحه.
ونوّهوا بأن معروضات السوق تشمل الخضراوات والفاكهة والتمور والسمن والبهارات ومستلزمات الرحلات من شوايات وحطب، بالإضافة إلى شتلات ومواد زراعيّة وفخاريات وغيرها من المُستلزمات الأخرى بأسعار تنافسيّة.
وأكدوا لـ الراية أن السوق يضم 76 محلًا ولا يعمل منها سوى 20 محلًا فقط، الأمر الذي يتطلب من الجهات المعنيّة العمل على إيجاد حلول لجذب التجّار لتشغيل باقي المحلات.
وطالبوا بوضع لوحات على طريق مسيعيد وطريق الوكرة الجديد للتعريف بمكان السوق خاصة لسكّان مناطق معيذر الوكير والوكير والمشاف والوكرة، لافتين إلى أن شبح الخسائر يواجههم بسبب قلة الإقبال رغم حرصهم الشديد على بيع بضائعهم بأسعار في المتناول وأقل بكثير من أسعار المحلات التجاريّة، كما أنهم يبيعون بنفس أسعار سوق الخضراوات والفاكهة في السيلية.
