Friends of Environment Center Launches Summer Program to Raise Awareness on Environment

Doha: The Friends of the Environment Center of the Ministry of Sports and Youth launched a summer program with a range of events, activities, as well as land and cruise tours to raise young people’s awareness on environment. The program will run during the whole month of July until August.

Organized in a societal partnership with LuLu Hypermarket, Al-Hanzab Reserve, Alazem camp and Monoprix, the program intends to raise young people’s awareness of the importance of conserving local environment through organizing several training workshops on methods of agriculture, recycling, handcrafts and knowledge trips.

The onset of the program featured a workshop on ideas from extra fabrics with the participation of a host of females whose ages are 15-year-old and over, where they got familiarized with methods of utilizing fabrics and manufacturing things that are beneficial to homes, ranging from table covers, to house decorations.

The center is due to organize a workshop next Tuesday for the same category of females to raise their awareness on the importance of agriculture and methods of adorning home gardens with numerous beneficial plants.

The program features land trip on Jul. 14 to explore wildlife at Al-Hanzab Reserve, in pursuit of introducing the attendees to plants and wildlife in Qatar, including their role in preserving food chains and species that depend on these plants.

In addition, the center will organize a cruise tour for young people on Jul. 19 to develop their awareness on the importance of preserving marine species and introduce the biodiversity Qatar abounds with, along with its efforts to nurture marine life and methods of preserving its species.

In August, the center is due to organize several events within the framework of its vision and objective to raise awareness on the importance of conserving environment and training on recycling processes.

الدوحة: أطلق مركز أصدقاء البيئة، التابع لوزارة الرياضة والشباب، برنامجا صيفيا حافلا بالفعاليات والأنشطة والرحلات البرية والبحرية؛ لتعزيز الوعي البيئي لدى الشباب، ويستمر البرنامج طوال شهري يوليو الجاري وأغسطس المقبل.

ويهدف البرنامج، الذي يتم تنظيمه بالشراكة المجتمعية مع مجموعة اللولو هايبر ماركت ومحمية الحنزاب ومعسكر العزم ومونوبري، إلى توعية الشباب بأهمية المحافظة على البيئة المحلية، من خلال العديد من الورش للتدريب على طرق الزراعة، وإعادة التدوير والحرف اليدوية ورحلات المعرفة.

وقد بدأ البرنامج الصيفي بتنظيم ورشة عمل اليوم تحت عنوان “أفكار من الأقمشة الزائدة”، شارك فيها عدد كبير من الفتيات من سن 15 عاما فما فوق، حيث تعرفن على طرق الاستفادة من الأقمشة وتصنيع أشياء مفيدة للمنزل، مثل عمل مفارش الطاولات وديكورات المنزل، كما سينظم المركز ورشة بعد غد الثلاثاء للفئة نفسها من الفتيات، تحت عنوان “استكشف أثري على نبتتي”؛ لتوعية الفتيات بأهمية الزراعة، وطرق إثراء الحديقة المنزلية بالعديد من النباتات المفيدة.

كما يشمل البرنامج رحلة برية يوم 14 يوليو الجاري، تحت عنوان “استكشف البرية”، وذلك بمحمية علي الحنزاب؛ بهدف تعريف المشاركين بالنباتات والحياة البرية في دولة قطر، ودورها في المحافظة على السلسة الغذائية، والكائنات الحية التي تقوم على هذه النباتات.

وفي الإطار ذاته ينظم المركز ورشة تحت عنوان “استكشف إبداعي من أشيائي القديمة – الدمية القماشية” للفتيات يوم 17 يوليو، بمقر المركز، في إطار تدريب الفتيات على الأعمال اليدوية، وأهم طرق الاستفادة من عمليات إعادة التدوير للأشياء القديمة في المنزل، تعقبها ورشة تحت عنوان “استكشف أثري على نبتتي – من بذرة إلى ثمرة” يوم 18 يوليو؛ وذلك لتدريب الفتيات على أفضل طرق الزراعة المنزلية.

كما ينظم المركز رحلة بحرية للشباب يوم 19 يوليو؛ بهدف تنمية الوعي بأهمية المحافظة على الأحياء البحرية، والتعريف بالتنوع البيولوجي الذي تزخر به دولة قطر، وجهود الدولة لإثراء تلك الحياة وطرق المحافظة على أحيائها.

كما سينظم المركز العديد من الفعاليات في أغسطس المقبل، في إطار رؤية وهدف المركز للتوعية بأهمية وطرق المحافظة على البيئة، والتدريب على عمليات إعادة التدوير، ويأتي في صدارة تلك الفعاليات إطلاق مسابقة على مدار الشهر تحت عنوان “ملتقى الأفكار”، لتقديم أفكار تساعد على تطوير البيئة البحرية والبرية وإعادة التدوير، بحيث يكرم 4 فائزين في نهاية الملتقى.
