Qatar’s solutions to accommodate 1.2 million visitors during the 2022 World Cup

Fatima al-Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Communication Department of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, expressed her hope that 1.2 million visitors will come to Qatar during the World Cup, which it hosts about a year from now, revealing “innovative and temporary” solutions to host them.

“We hope that more than 1.2 million visitors from around the world will attend the World Cup,” al-Nuaimi told AFP. “They won’t be in the country at the same time, as this event lasts for 28 days.”

“There are more than one element such as previous World Cups data, Qatar’s geographical location close to many countries, and Qatar’s official airline reaching 190 direct destinations, which will create new mass markets for FIFA,” said The Executive Director of the Communication Department of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.

In addition to hotels, al-Nuaimi said, “we have considered innovative and temporary solutions, such as large floating boats, arab-desert fan villages that offer a different experience and provide a large number of hotel rooms.”

“Full housing plans will soon be available to fans who start thinking about housing usually after tickets start to be issued in early 2022,” she said, noting that the “Be The Host” initiative, which opens the doors of Qataris and foreign residents to visitors, “is an opportunity for fans to get to know the culture of the country. We are hospitable people. This initiative will be implemented in World Cup and in the Arab Cup as well.”

She referred to procedures to facilitate the arrival of fans, so that “the Fan ID card is a visa to enter the country”.

عبرت السيدة فاطمة النعيمي المدير التنفيذي لإدارة الاتصال باللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث عن أملها في قدوم مليون ومئتي ألف زائر إلى قطر خلال مونديال الذي تستضيفه في بعد حوالي السنة من الآن، كاشفة عن حلول “مبتكرة ومؤقتة” لاستضافتهم.

وقالت النعيمي في مقابلة مع وكالة فرانس برس: “نأمل في أن يحضر خلال بطولة كأس العالم أكثر من مليون و200 ألف زائر من حول العالم. لن يكونوا في الوقت عينه في البلاد، إذ يمتد هذا الحدث على مدى 28 يوماً”.

وعن كيفية التوصل إلى هذا الرقم أوضحت المدير التنفيذي لإدارة الاتصال باللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث أن: “هناك أكثر من عنصر مثل بيانات النُسخ السابقة من كأس العالم، الموقع الجغرافي لقطر القريب من دول كثيرة، ووصول الناقل الرسمي الطيران القطري إلى 190 وجهة مباشرة، ما سيخلق لفيفا (الاتحاد الدولي) أسواق جماهيرية جديدة”.

وأشارت النعيمي إلى أنه بالإضافة إلى الفنادق: “فكّرنا في حلول مبتكرة ومؤقتة، مثل القوارب الضخمة العائمة، قرى المشجعين ذات الطابع العربي الصحراوي التي تمنح تجربة مختلفة وتوفّر عدداً كبيراً من حجم الغرف المستأجرة في الفنادق”.

كما كشفت أن “خطط السكن الكاملة ستكون متاحة في وقت قريب للجماهير التي تبدأ التفكير بالسكن عادة بعد البدء بإصدار التذاكر مطلع العام 2022” مشيرة إلى ان مبادرة “كُن أنت المستضيف” والتي تفتح أبواب القطريين والمقيمين الأجانب أمام الزائرين “هي فرصة ليتعرّف المشجعون على ثقافة البلد. نحن شعب مضياف. وهذه المبادرة ستُطبَّق في المونديال وفي كأس العرب أيضا”.

وأشارت إلى إجراءات من أجل تسهيل قدوم المشجعين، بحيث تكون “بطاقة المشجع (فان آي دي) بمثابة التأشيرة لدخول البلد”.
