The results of the 14th edition of HSBC Expat Explorer’s annual report – a global survey of the views of more than 20,000 people living and working outside their countries of origin – indicated. The vast majority of expatriates surveyed in Qatar feel that their standard of living has improved since they came to the country.
More than two-thirds of respondents are optimistic about next year despite the global pandemic that has lasted for the past 18 months.
This feeling of optimism stems from the improvement of their financial conditions (85%), their confidence in the economic future (59%) and the political stability of the state (76%). All of this was reinforced by the limited changes in laws, policies and regulations that could affect the financial recovery.
“The results of expat Explorer’s annual survey have been encouraging and have shown optimism about improved living standards and improved material conditions,” said Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi, Chief Executive Officer Of HSBC Qatar.
This study helps us understand the needs of our expatriate clients and helps them increase their wealth on a personal level. We have teams in the wealth management department who can design solutions that suit the needs of our expatriate customers and open up a world of opportunities for everyone.
Many expatriates in Qatar appreciate the importance of work-life balance and about 60% of respondents said their standard of living has improved since they came to the country. Safety and security were one of the most important reasons for the improvement in the living standard as a whole, with 74% stating that they felt more secure than in their home countries.
The results indicate that expatriates place the level of personal life as a priority rather than traditional motivations for transition. Many expect to find more opportunities to travel over the next 12 months 46% and meet new friends 46% and career development opportunities 44%.

أشارت نتائج النسخة الرابعة عشرة من تقرير HSBC Expat Explorer السنوي – وهو عبارة عن دراسة استقصائية عالمية لآراء أكثر من 20000 شخص يعيشون ويعملون خارج بلدانهم الأصلية. ان الغالبية العظمى من المغتربين الذين شملهم الاستطلاع في قطر 80٪ يشعرون ان مستوى معيشتهم قد تحسن منذ قدومهم للدولة. كما ان أكثر من ثلثي المستطلعين يشعرون بالتفاؤل حيال العام المقبل على الرغم من الجائحة العالمية التي استمرت طيلة الـ 18 شهراً الماضية.
ويأتي هذا الشعور بالتفاؤل من تحسن أوضاعهم المادية 85% وثقتهم في المستقبل الاقتصادي 59% وفي الاستقرار السياسي للدولة 76% وقد عزز من كل ذلك محدودية التغيرات في القوانين والسياسات واللوائح التي يمكن أن تؤثر في الانتعاش المالي.
وقال عبد الحكيم مصطفوي، الرئيس التنفيذي لبنك HSBC قطر: “لقد كانت نتائج استبيان Expat Explorer السنوي مشجعة لنا وأظهرت مدى التفاؤل بتحسن مستوى المعيشة وتحسن الأوضاع المادية. وتساعدنا هذه الدراسة على فهم احتياجات عملائنا من المغتربين وتساعدهم على زيادة ثرواتهم على المستوى الشخصي. ولدينا فرق عمل في قسم إدارة الثروة بإمكانهم تصميم حلول تناسب احتياجات عملائنا من المغتربين وتفتح امام الجميع عالماً من الفرص”.
وكثير من المغتربين في قطر يقدرون أهمية التوازن بين العمل والحياة الشخصية وحوالي 60% ممن شاركوا في الاستبيان ذكروا ان مستوى معيشتهم قد تحسن منذ قدومهم إلى الدولة. وحلت السلامة والأمن كأحد أهم الأسباب لتحسن مستوى المعيشة ككل حيث ذكر 74% أنهم يشعرون بالأمن أكثر مما في أوطانهم الأصلية.
وتشير النتائج الى أن المغتربين يضعون مستوى الحياة الشخصية كأولوية أكثر من دوافع الانتقال التقليدية. ويتوقع الكثيرون منهم أن يجدوا فرصاً أكثر للسفر خلال الـ 12 شهراً المقبلة 46% والالتقاء بأصدقاء جدد 46% وفرص للتطور الوظيفي 44%.
