Merchants manipulate the prices of vegetables in Al Sailiya market

Doha: The central market of Al Sailiya witnessed a manipulation of the prices of imported vegetables by sellers, where the increase in price is higher than the daily price bulletin issued by the Central Markets Section of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry which amounts to 10 riyals per box.
During Al-Raya tour in Al-Sailiya Central Market, prices varied between the sale price and the price of the bulletin, with the prices of tomatoes, eggplants and zucchini exceeding the bulletin prices from 4 to 10 riyals per box. The prices of tomatoes for the daily bulletin for the prices of imported vegetables were as follows: Iranian tomatoes box 6 and 5 kg for 30 riyals, sold for 40 riyals, and for the prices of eggplant according to the daily bulletin the price of the Iranian box was 24 riyals for the 6 kg box, while the 8 kg box is sold for 31 and 32 riyals, the Jordanian 6 kg for 24 riyals, while the price of the 7 kg box of Lebanese eggplant is 30 riyals, and the sellers sell the Iranian eggplant box for 28 riyals for the 6 kg box, while the iranian zucchini prices were 8 kg box for 32 riyals, the box of 6 kg for 24 riyals, the price of the Lebanese zucchini box of 6 kg is 42 riyals, the box of 3.5 kg at the price of 24 riyals, and the sellers sell the Iranian zucchini box weighing 3 kg for 18 riyals.
The market saw the availability of 18 varieties of local vegetables (Okra, Eggplant, Berber, Popper, Watercress, Cucumber, Datta, chard, Kerla, Zucchini, Lal, bean, Leaf, mallow, mint, and watermelon, melon and pumpkin) amid the continued absence of local tomato production so far, okra prices were between 38 and 20 riyals for a box weighing 5 or 6 kg, eggplant prices between 35 and 20 kg, while the cucumber price was between 28 and 17 riyals weighing 6 and 7 kg, and the lopia between 45 to 20 riyals weight 5 to 4 kg, the price of zucchini weighing 7 kg between 39 and 27 riyals, and the 6 kg of mallow for 20 riyals.
A number of citizens interviewed by al-Raya stressed that the lack of control was the main reason for the exploitation of sellers, and increased prices in light of the low supply, compared to the demand situation, as well as the lack of commitment of sellers to the prices of the daily bulletin.
They called on the competent authorities to launch periodic inspection campaigns on the markets to prevent manipulation and raising prices on consumers and apply the law and violations to reduce this phenomenon and oblige sellers to sell at prices announced by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
They noted the importance of implementing Resolution 1 of 2011 on the price controls for vegetables and fruits, determining the mechanism for selling them and issuing a violation of non-compliance with forced pricing.
They explained that sellers are exploiting lack of control and imposing unreal prices, as well as cheating in goods, where they rely on putting fresh vegetables at the top of the box and hide at the bottom bad vegetables, sometimes rotten and only discovered by the consumer at home, demanding that traders and sellers be deterred and intensified consumer protection campaigns to control violators and exploiters of the need of customers, where sellers do not adhere to fixed pricing, as well as marketing non-fresh goods, pointing to the importance of constant surveillance that prevents such behaviors from spreading.

الدوحة: شهد سوقُ السيليّة المركزيُّ تلاعبًا في أسعار الخضراوات المستوردة من قِبل الباعة، حيث تبلغ الزيادة في السعر عن نشرة الأسعار اليومية التي يصدرها قسم الأسواق المركزيّة التابع لوزارة التجارة والصناعة 10 ريالات في الصندوق الواحد.
وخلال جولة لـ الراية في سوق السيليّة المركزي، رصدت تباينَ الأسعار بالنسبة للمباع مقارنةً بسعر النشرة، حيث تزيد أسعار الطماطم والباذنجان والكوسة على أسعار النشرة من 4 إلى 10 ريالات في الصندوق الواحد.وجاءت أسعارُ الطماطم بالنسبة للنشرة اليومية لأسعار الخضراوات المستوردة كالتالي: طماطم إيرانية الصندوق 6 و5 كجم ب 30 ريالًا، ويباع ب 40 ريالًا، وبالنسبة لأسعار الباذنجان وَفقًا للنشرة اليومية فكان سعر الصندوق الإيراني ب 24 ريالًا للصندوق 6 كجم، أما الصندوق 8 كجم ب 31 و32 ريالًا، والأردني 6 كجم ب 24 ريالًا، بينما سعر الباذنجان اللبناني 7 كجم ب 30 ريالًا، ويقوم الباعة ببيع صندوق الباذنجان الإيراني ب 28 ريالًا للصندوق 6 كجم، بينما كانت أسعار الكوسة الإيرانية صندوق 8 كجم ب 32 ريالًا، والصندوق 6 كجم ب 24 ريالًا، وسعر صندوق الكوسة اللبنانية 6 كجم ب 42 ريالًا، والصندوق 3.5 كجم بسعر 24 ريالًا، ويبيع الباعة صندوق الكوسة الإيرانية 3 كجم ب 18 ريالًا.
وشهد السوق توفّر 18 صنفًا للخضراوات المحلية (بامية، باذنجان، بربير، بوبر، جرجير، خيار، داتا، سلق، كيرلا، كوسة، لال، لوبيا، ليف، ملوخية، ونعناع إلى جانب البطيخ والشمام والقرع) وسط استمرار غياب إنتاج الطماطم المحلية إلى الآن، حيث كانت أسعار البامية ما بين 38 إلى 20 ريالًا وزن 5 و6 كجم، وأسعار الباذنجان ما بين 35 إلى 20 كجم، بينما كان سعر الخيار ما بين 28 إلى 17 ريالًا وزن 6 و7 كجم، واللوبيا ما بين 45 إلى 20 ريالًا وزن 5 إلى 4 كجم، وسعر الكوسة وزن 7 كجم ما بين 39 إلى 27 ريالًا، والملوخية وزن 6 كجم ب 20 ريالًا.
وأكّد عددٌ من المواطنين التقتهم الراية أنّ غياب الرقابة السبب الرئيسيّ وراء استغلال الباعة، ورفع الأسعار في ظلّ انخفاض كَميات المعروض، مقارنةً بحالة الطلب، فضلًا عن عدم التزام الباعة بأسعار النشرة اليوميّة.
وطالبوا الجهات المُختصة بضرورة إطلاق حملات تفتيشيّة دورية على الأسواق لمنع التلاعب ورفع الأسعار على المُستهلكين وتطبيق القانون والمخالفات للحدّ من تلك الظاهرة وإلزام الباعة بالبيع بالأسعار المُعلن عنها من قِبل وزارة التجارة والصناعة.
وأشاروا إلى أهمّية تطبيق القرار رقم (1) لسنة 2011 بشأن ضوابط تحديد أسعار الخضراوات والفاكهة، وتحديد آلية بيعها وتحرير مُخالفة عدم الالتزام بالتسعير الجبري.
وأوضحوا استغلالَ الباعة غياب الرقابة وفرضهم أسعارًا غير حقيقية، فضلًا عن الغشّ في البضائع، حيث يعتمدون على وضع الخضراوات الطازجة أعلى الصندوق ويخفون في الأسفل الخضراوات غير الجيدة، وأحيانًا الفاسدة ولا يكتشفها المستهلك إلا في المنزل، مُطالبين بردع التجار والباعة وتكثيف حملات حماية المُستهلك لضبط المُخالفين والمستغلين لحاجة الزبائن، حيث لا يلتزم الباعة بالتسعيرة المحدّدة، فضلًا عن تسويقهم بضائعَ غير طازجة، لافتين إلى أهمّية المراقبة المُستمرة التي تمنع مثل هذه السلوكيات من الانتشار.
