Minister of Culture and Sports reveals reasons for cancelling Darb Al Saai this year

Doha: H.E. Mr. Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the National Day celebrations of the State, said that it was decided not to hold the activities of Darb Al Saai this year in the usual location as part of the celebrations of the National Day of the State, and will be replaced by a series of activities and events distributed in several regions of the country, pointing out that a permanent headquarters has been set for Darb Al Saai in Um Salaal Mohammed starting next year.

His Excellency said during the meeting on the national day 2021, that the event of Darb Al Saai is of interest to all and its age became the age of a whole generation who grew up and participated in its activities, and we appreciate this trust and you will see Darb Al Saai in a new format next year, God willing.

Explaining why Darb Al Saai was not held this year, His Excellency said: Darb Al Saai could have been held this year, but we did not want to venture in the light of the surprises of the Covid-19 pandemic, so we saw that we celebrate it next year, God willing, at the new site in um Salal region.

His Excellency continued: The vision at the time was not clear for the Covid-19 pandemic and the talk over the past months was that September will witness a fourth wave of pandemic, so the option was to risk and spend a lot of money in holding Darb Al Saai and then it may be cancelled due to the latest health situation or wait for the establishment of the new site in um Salaal area and the organization of events next year, so we decided not to venture into this matter.

“There will be events in several regions of the country and there will be communication with the public in various activities and events.

الدوحة: قال سعادة السيد صلاح بن غانم العلي وزير للثقافة والرياضة ورئيس اللجنة المنظمة لاحتفالات اليوم الوطني للدولة إنه تقرر عدم إقامة فعاليات درب الساعي هذا العام في الموقع المعتاد ضمن احتفالات اليوم الوطني للدولة، وسيتم الاستعاضة عنها بمجموعة من الأنشطة والفعاليات الموزعة في عدة مناطق بالدولة، مشيراً إلى أنه تم تحديد مقر دائم لدرب الساعي في أم صلال محمد بدءاً من العام القادم.

وقال سعادته خلال اللقاء الخاص باليوم الوطني 2021، إن فعالية درب الساعي تهم الجميع وعمرها أصبح من عمر جيل كامل نشأ وشارك في أنشطتها، ونحن نقدر هذه الأمانة وسترون درب الساعي في حلة جديدة في العام القادم بإذن الله.

وتوضيحاً لأسباب عدم إقامة درب الساعي هذا العام، قال سعادته: كان من الممكن أن يقام درب الساعي هذا العام لكننا لم نرد المغامرة في ظل مفاجآت جائحة كوفيد-19 فرأينا أن نحتفل به العام المقيبل بإذن الله في الموقع الجديد في منطقة أم صلال

وتابع سعادته: الرؤية حينها لم تكن واضحة بالنسبة لجائحة كوفيد-19 وكان الحديث خلال الأشهر الماضية أن شهر سبتمبر سيشهد موجة رابعة من الجائحة، لذلك كان الخيار أن نجازف وننفق أموالاً كثيرة في إقامة درب الساعي ومن ثم ربما يتعرض للإلغاء بسبب مستجدات الوضع الصحي أو ننتظر إنشاء الموقع الجديد في منطقة أم صلال وتنظيم الفعاليات العام القادم، فقررنا أن لا نغامر في هذا الأمر.

واستطرد قائلاً: ستكون هناك فعاليات موزعة في عدة مناطق بالدولة وسيكون هناك تواصل مع الجمهور في مختلف الأنشطة والفعاليات.
