Doha: Qatari English-language The Peninsula newspaper stated in its editorial on Friday that Qatar’s strong focus on innovation and entrepreneurship is helping boost its appeal as an attractive destination for business especially for SMEs.
The Qatari daily said, in its editorial entitled “Promoting Entrepreneurship”, that Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has taken several initiatives to promote entrepreneurship in Qatar, adding that Qatars fast growing FinTech
sector has huge potential for growth.
The paper underlined that national efforts to boost the local FinTech sector have begun to bear fruit, noting that Qatar is emerging as a potential new home for FinTech in the region with Qatar FinTech Hub (QFTH) becoming the second largest FinTech venture investor in MENA in Q1 2021.
The Peninsula newspaper noted that Qatar FinTech Hub (QFTH), was established by QDB in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and QCBs FinTech Strategy to build on Qatars success in the financial sector and enhance the countrys role in the field of financial innovation, pointing out that the first wave of the program focused on Payment Technologies, whereas the second centered around Emerging Technologies that address the challenges of financial institutions.
The Peninsula stressed that such interest showcases the leading position that Qatar now occupies on the global FinTech map, adding that the creation of Qatar FinTech Hub was a significant step in establishing Qatar as a leading regional and global FinTech hub, with the purpose of attracting FinTech innovations to keep Qatari financial services a competitive industry.
In conclusion, The Peninsula newspaper pointed out that COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digitization and reiterated the growing importance of Fintech across the globe.

وأوضحت أن الجهود الوطنية لتعزيز قطاع التكنولوجيا المالية المحلي بدأت تؤتي ثمارها، لافتة إلى أن دولة قطر بدأت تبرز كمركز جديد محتمل للتكنولوجيا المالية في المنطقة، حيث أصبح مركز قطر للتكنولوجيا المالية ثاني أكبر مستثمر في مجال التكنولوجيا المالية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا في الربع الأول من عام 2021.
ولفتت إلى تأسيس مركز قطر للتكنولوجيا المالية من قبل بنك قطر للتنمية بما يتماشى مع رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 واستراتيجية التكنولوجيا المالية لمصرف قطر المركزي للبناء على نجاح قطر في القطاع المالي وتعزيز دور الدولة في مجال الابتكار المالي، مشيرة إلى أن الموجة الأولى من برامج المركز ركزت على تقنيات الدفع، بينما ركزت الموجة الثانية على التقنيات الناشئة التي تعالج تحديات المؤسسات المالية.
وشددت /البننسولا/ على أن هذا الاهتمام يظهر المكانة الرائدة لدولة قطر على خريطة التكنولوجيا المالية العالمية، مضيفة أن إنشاء مركز قطر للتكنولوجيا المالية خطوة مهمة في ترسيخ مكانة قطر كمركز إقليمي وعالمي بهدف جذب ابتكارات التكنولوجيا المالية.
واختتمت الصحيفة افتتاحيتها بالإشارة إلى أن جائحة كورونا (كوفيد-19) أدت إلى تسريع الرقمنة وأكدت على الأهمية المتزايدة للتكنولوجيا المالية في جميع أنحاء العالم.
