Complaints of surcharges of private schools

Doha: A number of parents have complained about the excessive surcharges imposed by some private schools on parents, including textbook, bus, uniform, educational supplies and other fees, which burden many parents, especially those with more than one student at different levels of education.

In remarks to Al-Raya, parents called for strict controls on unjustified surcharges and for schools not to overestimate, with realistic rates consistent with the service provided.

They pointed out that the textbook fees for a primary school student in some schools exceed the book fees for students at the university, and that there are some schools that require the return of books at the end of the year. They deplored the fact that such fees are an additional burden on other financial burdens borne by parents under the “distance learning” system, which forces them to provide computers and tablets to their children.

They called for halving the fees for student transport services under the application of the integrated education decision of the system of rotational attendance of students by 50% of the capacity of the school building, as the fees of transport services are paid for the student’s delivery to and from the school on a daily basis, and under the current system the student’s time at school and the benefit of these services does not exceed 10 days during the month at the rate of 5 days every two weeks and therefore the value must be halved.

الدوحة: اشتكى عدد من أولياء الأمور من الرسوم الإضافية المُبالغ فيها التي تفرضها بعض المدارس الخاصة على أولياء الأمور، وتشمل رسوم الكتب المدرسية والحافلات والزي والمستلزمات التعليمية وغيرها من الرسوم، ما يثقل كاهل الكثيرين من أولياء الأمور، خاصة من لديهم أكثر من طالب بمراحل التعليم المختلفة.

وطالب أولياء الأمور، في تصريحات لـ الراية، بضرورة وضع ضوابط مشددة للرسوم الإضافية غير المُبررة وإلزام المدارس بعدم المغالاة فيها، مع تحديد أسعار واقعية تتوافق مع الخدمة المقدمة. مشيرين إلى أن رسوم الكتب المدرسية لطالب في المرحلة الابتدائية ببعض المدارس تفوق رسوم الكتب للطلاب بالجامعة، فضلًا عن أن هناك بعض المدارس التي تشترط إرجاع الكتب في نهاية العام. وأعربوا عن استيائهم من أن تلك الرسوم تشكل عبئًا إضافيًا على الأعباء المالية الأخرى التي يتحملها أولياء الأمور في ظل نظام «التعلم عن بُعد» والذي يضطرهم لتوفير حواسيب وأجهزة لوحية لأبنائهم.

ودعوا إلى تخفيض رسوم خدمات نقل الطلاب إلى النصف في ظل تطبيق قرار التعليم المُدمج بنظام الحضور التناوبي للطلبة بنسبة 50% من الطاقة الاستيعابية للمبنى المدرسي، حيث إن رسوم خدمات النقل تدفع مُقابل إيصال الطالب من وإلى المدرسة بشكل يومي، وفي ظل النظام الحالي فإن دوام الطالب بالمدرسة واستفادته من تلك الخدمات لا يتعدى 10 أيام خلال الشهر الواحد بمعدل 5 أيام كل أسبوعين وبالتالي يجب خفض القيمة إلى النصف.
