“Mefloquine” confirmed as efficient coronavirus treatment by Russian Agency for Medicine

The Russian Federal Agency for Medicine and Biology has confirmed the efficacy of the antimalarial drug “Mefloquine” in the treatment of people infected with the coronavirus (COVED-19), the Russian Federal Agency for Medicine and Biology has announced. “We have been able to prove that Mefloquine completely prevents the development of cellular morbidity caused by coronavirus at a concentration of 2 mcg/l,” the agency said in a statement
It added that the concentration of the substance in the blood plasma reaches the level mentioned after taking the drug in the prescribed therapeutic doses.
It noted that research aimed at finding out the effectiveness of the drug was conducted by the National Farm Zachita Center with the participation of the 48th Institute of Scientific Research of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In late March, the agency announced that it had developed an effective drug to treat the disease caused by the virus (Coved-19), based on the drug “Mefloquine”.

أعلنت الوكالة الفدرالية الروسية للطب والبيولوجيا، أن علماءها أثبتوا فعالية دواء “مفلوكوين” المضاد للملاريا في علاج المصابين بفيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19).
وقالت الوكالة، في بيان لها، “لقد استطعنا إثبات أن عقار “ميفلوكين” يمنع تماما تطور الاعتلال الخلوي الناجم عن فيروس كورونا بتركيز 2 مكغ/لتر”.
وأضافت أن تركيز المادة في بلازما الدم يصل إلى المستوى المذكور بعد تناول الدواء بالجرعات العلاجية المسموح بها.
وأشارت إلى أن الأبحاث الهادفة إلى معرفة مدى فعالية العقار المذكور، أجراها مركز “فارم زاشيتا” الوطني بمشاركة المعهد الـ48 للبحوث العلمية التابع لوزارة الدفاع الروسية.
وفي أواخر مارس الماضي، أعلنت الوكالة أنها تمكنت من تطوير دواء فعال لعلاج المرض الذي يسببه فيروس (كوفيد-19)، على أساس عقار “مفلوكوين”.
