Qatar Participates in G7 Ministerial Meeting on Afghanistan

Doha: The State of Qatar took part in the virtual Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Seven on Afghanistan on Monday.
HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.
The meeting was attended by HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Luigi Di Maio; HE Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom Dominic Raab, HE Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Yves Le Drian, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Heiko Maas, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Marc Garneau, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, HE High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, and HE Secretary-General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments of the humanitarian, security and political situation in Afghanistan, the developments of the evacuating civilians process, and the international efforts necessary to ensure a peaceful transition of power that guarantees the protection of civilians and preserves the gains and rights of the Afghan people.
The participants in the meeting expressed their thanks to the State of Qatar for its continuous efforts to achieve stability in Afghanistan and preserve the rights of the Afghan people.
HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani stressed the importance of addressing the current situation in Afghanistan in a realistic way and setting up incentives in order to ensure a peaceful transfer of power that preserves the basic rights of the Afghan people.
HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the necessity of the cooperation of all international actors in the transitional period in Afghanistan, noting Qatar’s continued support to the efforts aimed at evacuating the civilians and ensuring their protection and safety, and Qatar’s readiness to cooperate with everyone to promote regional and international consensus in order to achieve security and stability in Afghanistan.
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani stressed the importance of accelerating the provision of humanitarian aid to avoid any humanitarian and economic crisis in Afghanistan, warning that such crisis would have serious repercussions on the stability of Afghanistan and the region.

حضر الاجتماع سعادة السيد أنتوني بلينكن وزير الخارجية في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وسعادة السيد لويجي دي مايو وزير الشؤون الخارجية والتعاون الدولي في الجمهورية الإيطالية، وسعادة السيد دومينيك راب وزير الخارجية في المملكة المتحدة، وسعادة السيد جان إيف لودريان وزير أوروبا والشؤون الخارجية في الجمهورية الفرنسية، وسعادة السيد هايكو ماس وزير الخارجية في جمهورية ألمانيا الاتحادية، وسعادة السيد توشيميتسو موتيجي وزير الخارجية في اليابان، وسعادة السيد مارك غارنو وزير الخارجية في كندا، وسعادة السيد مولود تشاويش أوغلو وزير الخارجية في الجمهورية التركية، وسعادة السيد جوزيب بوريل الممثل الأعلى للأمن والسياسة الخارجية في الاتحاد الأوروبي، وسعادة السيد ينس ستولتنبرغ الأمين العام لحلف شمال الأطلسي.
جرى خلال الاجتماع استعراض آخر تطورات الوضع الإنساني والأمني والسياسي في أفغانستان، ومستجدات عملية إجلاء المدنيين، إلى جانب الجهود الدولية اللازمة لضمان انتقال سلمي يضمن حماية المدنيين ويحافظ على مكتسبات وحقوق الشعب الأفغاني.
وأعرب المشاركون في الاجتماع عن شكرهم لدولة قطر على جهودها المتواصلة لتحقيق الاستقرار في أفغانستان والمحافظة على حقوق الشعب الأفغاني.
من جانبه، أكد سعادة نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية أهمية التعامل مع الوضع القائم في أفغانستان بواقعية ووضع الحوافز لضمان انتقال سلمي للسلطة يحافظ على الحقوق الأساسية للشعب الأفغاني.
وشدد سعادته على ضرورة تعاون جميع الفاعلين الدوليين في المرحلة الانتقالية التي يشهدها الداخل الأفغاني، كما أشار سعادته إلى استمرار دعم دولة قطر للجهود المبذولة لإجلاء المدنيين وحمايتهم وضمان سلامتهم، لافتاً إلى استعداد دولة قطر للتعاون مع الجميع لتعزيز التوافق الإقليمي والدولي بما يحقق الأمن والاستقرار في أفغانستان.
ونوه سعادة الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني إلى أهمية تعجيل تقديم المساعدات الإنسانية لتجنب حدوث أي أزمة إنسانية واقتصادية في الداخل الأفغاني، محذراً من أن حدوثها سيكون له تداعيات خطيرة على استقرار أفغانستان والمنطقة.
