Qatar Facilitates Evacuation of 40,000 People Safely from Kabul

Doha: The State of Qatar announced that, in coordination with concerned countries and parties in Afghanistan, it has facilitated the evacuation of more than 40,000 people safely from the Afghan capital, Kabul, to Qatar, and that most of the evacuees are transiting in Qatar, where they are hosted temporarily for a few days before departing on flights to their onward destinations, adding that evacuation efforts will continue in the coming days in consultation with international partners.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the evacuation efforts are an extension of Qatar’s commitment toward the brotherly people of Afghanistan and their right to dignity and safety, noting that the evacuated groups include families, women, children, and minorities.

The statement explained that at the request of international groups including Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), media organizations and educational institutions, the State of Qatar safely evacuated thousands of Afghan employees and their families, as well as female students from across Afghanistan, adding that Qatar also facilitated the evacuation of citizens from the US, France, and Germany, and other countries.

The statement added that in the interest of public health in the State of Qatar, as well as the of those who have been evacuated, all evacuees that do not immediately transit to their onward destinations are being provided with a PCR test, and a COVID-19 vaccine (if requested), in addition to transportation and temporary accommodation, as well as healthcare, meals, and all basic necessities.

Qatar is currently temporarily hosting a large number of evacuees – most of them students, families and journalists, the statement added.

The statement also explained that, as a reliable international mediator and partner, the State of Qatar has been talking with all concerned parties to facilitate aid and evacuation, while closely following the developments in Afghanistan, stressing that Qatar will spare no effort in supporting the people of Afghanistan through diplomacy, dialogue, and developmental projects to achieve stability and prosperity in Afghanistan.

الدوحة: أعلنت دولة قطر أنها سهلت عملية إجلاء ونقل أكثر من 40,000 شخص من العاصمة الأفغانية كابول بأمان إلى الأراضي القطرية بالتنسيق مع الدول المعنية والأطراف المتواجدة في أفغانستان، وحل معظمهم كضيوف في دولة قطر لبضعة أيام قبل أن يكملوا طريقهم إلى وجهاتهم النهائية، وأكدت أن جهود الإجلاء ستتواصل في الأيام المقبلة بالتنسيق مع الشركاء الدوليين.

وقالت وزارة الخارجية، في بيان اليوم، إن جهود الإجلاء تأتي في سياق التزام دولة قطر تجاه الشعب الأفغاني الشقيق وحقه في العيش بكرامة وأمان، وإن الفئات التي تم إجلاؤها تتضمن العائلات والنساء والأطفال، بالإضافة إلى الأقليات.

وأوضح البيان أنه بناءً على طلب عدد من المجموعات الدولية بما فيها المنظمات غير الحكومية والمنظمات الإعلامية والمؤسسات التعليمية، قامت دولة قطر بإجلاء الآلاف من الموظفين الأفغان مع عائلاتهم، بالإضافة إلى عدد كبير من الطالبات من جميع انحاء افغانستان، كما سهلت دولة قطر اجلاء عدد من مواطني الدول الصديقة كالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وفرنسا وألمانيا.

وأضاف البيان: “حرصاً على الصحة العامة في دولة قطر وصحة الأفراد الذين تم اجلاؤهم، يتم اجراء فحص الكشف عن فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19) بتقنية تفاعل البلمرة التسلسلي (PCR) لجميع الأشخاص الذين تم إجلاؤهم ولم يغادروا حتى الآن إلى وجهتهم النهائية، وتوفير لقاح كوفيد-19 عند الطلب، بالإضافة إلى المواصلات والمسكن المؤقت والرعاية الصحية والوجبات الغذائية وكل الرعاية اللازمة”.

وذكر أن دولة قطر تستضيف حاليا بشكل مؤقت عدداً كبيراً من الأشخاص الذين تم اجلاؤهم معظمهم من الطلبة والصحفيين وعدد من العائلات.

وأوضح البيان أن دولة قطر تعمل بالتنسيق مع جميع الأطراف المعنية لتسهيل عمليات الإغاثة والإجلاء بصفتها وسيطاً وشريكاً دولياً يعتد به، وتتابع التطورات في أفغانستان عن كثب، مؤكدة أنها لن تدخر جهداً في دعم الشعب الأفغاني من خلال الدبلوماسية والحوار والمشاريع التنموية لتحقيق الاستقرار والازدهار في أفغانستان.
