UDC Increase its Capital Share in Qatar Cool

Doha: United Development Company (UDC), a leading Qatari public shareholding company and the master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island and its subsidiaries have announced exercising their right to purchase the shares allotted to them from shares of National Central Cooling Company (Emirati company), in Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool) for the value of QR 378 million, and accordingly completing the purchase transaction of the said shares.
Commenting on the buyout, UDC Chairman Turki bin Mohammed Al Khater said: “This increase enhances UDC’s investment portfolio. With the district cooling industry gaining momentum in the region and the Qatari market witnessing a shift towards cleaner energy and more eco-friendly technologies, Qatar Cool proves itself as a pioneer company boasting the world’s biggest district cooling plant at The Pearl-Qatar Island”.
For his part, UDC President, CEO and Member of the Board Ibrahim Jassim Al Othman, stated: “This purchase aligns with UDC’s vision and general expansion plans which aim to invest in future promising businesses while sustaining good performing investments in our portfolio. Qatar Cool enjoys a strong financial position and financial performance, which will lead for this investment to bring future benefit to UDC and a positive return for shareholders.”
Qatar Cool has a capital of QR 330 million and total assets equivalent to QR 2.3 billion as of June 30, 2021, in addition to revenues amounting to QR 194 million for the first six months of the year 2021.
Qatar Cool is a centralized utility company dedicated to providing district cooling to The Pearl-Qatar, West Bay District and several Doha Metro stations. It is the leading cooling provider in the country, having won numerous awards since its inception in 2003, many of which are international recognitions for providing sustainable energy solutions.
Qatar Cool has four cooling plants in operation, one serving The Pearl-Qatar and three serving the West Bay area. The latest plant in West Bay has been built to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver standard, which makes it the first LEED certified cooling plant in the State of Qatar.

الدوحة: أعلنت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية، وشركاتها التابعة عن ممارسة حقهم في شراء الحصة المخصصة لهم من أسهم الشركة الوطنية للتبريد المركزي (شركة إماراتية) في الشركة القطرية لتبريد المناطق (قطر كوول) بمبلغ 378 مليون ريال قطري، وعليه إتمام عملية شراء الأسهم المتعلقة بذلك.
وتعليقا على عملية الشراء، قال السيد تركي بن محمد الخاطر رئيس مجلس إدارة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية : “تعزز عملية الشراء هذه المحفظة الاستثمارية للشركة. ومع الزخم الكبير الذي تكتسبه صناعة التبريد في المنطقة، واتجاه السوق القطرية نحو استخدام طاقة أكثر نقاء وتقنيات صديقة للبيئة، أثبتت قطر كوول نفسها كشركة رائدة تمتلك أكبر محطة تبريد في العالم في جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر”.
من جانبه، صرح السيد إبراهيم جاسم العثمان، الرئيس التنفيذي وعضو مجلس إدارة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية بالقول: “تتماشى عملية الشراء مع رؤية الشركة المتحدة للتنمية وخططها التوسعية التي تهدف إلى الاستثمار في مجالات واعدة مع الحفاظ على الاستثمارات المجدية ضمن محفظتها الحالية. حيث تتمتع شركة قطر كوول بمركز مالي قوي وأداء مالي متميز، وسوف يؤدي هذا الاستثمار إلى منفعة مستقبلية وعائد إيجابي للمساهمين”.
وتملك شركة قطر كوول رأس مال بقيمة 330 مليون ريال قطري وأصولا إجمالية تعادل قيمتها 2.3 مليار ريال قطري كما في 30 يونيو 2021، بالإضافة لإيرادات تعادل 194 مليون ريال قطري لفترة الستة أشهر الأولى من العام 2021.
جدير بالذكر أن قطر كوول هي شركة مركزية متخصصة في تبريد المناطق، وهي تقدم خدماتها في جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر، ومنطقة الخليج الغربي، والعديد من محطات المترو. وهي إحدى الشركات الرائدة في توفير حلول تبريد المناطق في دولة قطر، حيث حصدت منذ إنشائها عام 2003، عددا كبيرا من الجوائز والتقديرات الدولية لتوفيرها حلولا للطاقة المستدامة.
وتمتلك قطر كوول أربع محطات تبريد عاملة، واحدة لخدمة جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر والثلاث الباقية لمنطقة الخليج الغربي. وقد أنشئت أحدث محطات تبريد المناطق في منطقة الخليج الغربي وفقا لمعايير نظام القيادة في مجال الطاقة والتصميم البيئي (LEED)، ما يجعلها أول محطة تبريد معتمدة من LEED في دولة قطر.
