Citizens to Al-Sharq: Censorship sought to control the prices of restaurants and cafés

Doha: A number of citizens called on the concerned authorities in the country represented by consumer protection to tighten control over restaurants and cafés that exaggerate prices compared to the services provided and food and beverage items, pointing out that the skyrocketing prices of restaurants and cafés in the country are the most expensive compared to other countries, stressing that even with regard to some famous restaurants and cafés that have a restaurant chain around the world, their prices are exaggerated here in Qatar, wondering why prices of restaurants and cafés have been raised, and the laws under which they are granted licenses and a price list?

Pointing out that the prices of the same food and beverages of all kinds hot and cold vary between restaurant or café and another, although it is of the same brand and taste, indicating the non-standardization of prices and exploitation to which the consumer in Qatar is subjected to from all directions, explaining that the price of a cup of coffee reaches in some cafes up to 45 riyals, and the same cup does not exceed ten riyals in another café, which calls for urgent intervention by the regulators in the country to control prices and reduce the prices exploitation of citizens and residents as a result of the greed of merchants, restaurants and cafés owners.

According to a study prepared by The Ladders it confirmed that coffee prices in Qatar are the most expensive in the world, after the study proved that the average most expensive cup of coffee found in Doha is enough to make 20 cups at home, costing $6.4 about 23.5 riyals.

Prices in Qatar after the addition of coffee and other ingredients could be as high as 30 riyals, equivalent to the price of more than 10 cups in Lagos, Nigeria, and more than twice the cost of a cup of coffee in New York, the world’s most expensive city, with an average price of $3.12.

الدوحة: طالب عدد من المواطنين الجهات المعنية في الدولة ممثلة بحماية المستهلك بتشديد الرقابة على المطاعم والكافيهات التي تبالغ بالأسعار مقارنة بالخدمات المقدمة وأصناف المأكولات والمشروبات، لافتين إلى أن الأسعار الخيالية للمطاعم والكافيهات في البلاد تعتبر الأغلى مقارنة بالدول الأخرى، مؤكدين أنه حتى فيما يتعلق ببعض المطاعم والكافيهات الشهيرة والتي لديها سلسلة مطاعم حول العالم فإن أسعارها مبالغ فيها هنا في قطر، متسائلين عن الأسباب التي أدت إلى رفع أسعار المطاعم والكافيهات، والقوانين التي بموجبها يتم منحها رخصا ولائحة أسعار؟، مشيرين إلى أن نفس المأكولات والمشروبات بأنواعها الساخنة والباردة تكون أسعارها متفاوتة بين مطعم أو كافيه وآخر، رغم أنها بنفس الماركة والمذاق، ما يدل على عدم توحيد الأسعار والاستغلال الذي يتعرض له المستهلك في قطر من كافة الاتجاهات، موضحين أن سعر كوب القهوة يصل في بعض المقاهي إلى 45 ريالا، ونفس الكوب والطلب لا يتجاوز عشرة ريالات في كافيه آخر، ما يستدعي تدخلا عاجلا من قبل الجهات الرقابية في البلاد لضبط الأسعار والحد من الاستغلال الذي يتعرض له المواطنون والمقيمون نتيجة جشع وطمع التجار وأصحاب المطاعم والكافيهات.

وبحسب الدراسة التي أعدها موقع  The Ladders، أكد فيها أن أسعار القهوة في قطر الأغلى عالمياً، وذلك بعد أن أثبتت الدراسة أن متوسط أغلى فنجان قهوة يوجد في الدوحة يكفي لعمل 20 كوباً أو فنجاناً في المنزل، حيث يكلّف 6.4 دولار حوالي 23.5 ريال.

وأن الأسعار في قطر بعد إضافة القهوة ومكوناتها الأخرى من الممكن أن يصل سعر كوب القهوة إلى 30 ريالاً، وهو ما يعادل ثمن أكثر من 10 فناجين في لاجوس في نيجيريا، ويساوي أكثر من ضعف تكلفة فنجان قهوة في نيويورك أغلى مدن العالم، حيث يبلغ متوسط سعره 3.12 دولار.
