Our investments in Russia grew to more than $13 billion

Doha: Key speakers at a joint Qatari-Russian symposium revealed the tendency to launch smart investment projects between the two countries and to benefit from the results of Doha’s successful participation in the recently held St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Qatar-Russia Investment and Trade Advisory (QRITA) and the international law firm Eversheds Sutherland hosted an online symposium on “Smart Investment in Russia” for investors from Qatar, after the success of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the prominent participation of Qatari institutions in this event.

During the symposium, experts discussed Russia’s position as the sixth largest economy in the world with a fast-growing market, in addition to the country’s legal structure, and the encouraging incentives provided for foreign investment and production localization, such as special investment contracts, investment protection agreements and special economic zones.

QRITA General Manager and CEO Oleg Czech and senior lawyers from Eversheds Sutherland Moscow office, Yuri Pugach – Head of the Litigation and Dispute Management Practice, Mr. Andrei Grachev – Head of Tax Practices, and Adviser Mr. Nikita Butenko, provided potential Qatari investors with insights into doing business. Business in Russia and what to consider in order to invest in the Russian market.

According to the symposium, the total foreign direct investment in Russia amounted to $49 billion and, and so far, Qatar’s investment in Russia has reached $13 billion.

Speakers explained during the symposium that in order to enter the Russian market, investors can establish a Russian legal entity, a limited liability company or joint stock company, or register a branch or representative office in Russia as well as other options, such as joint ventures with Russian partners or indirect presence through agreements with Russian partners.

وناقش الخبراء خلال الندوة مكانة روسيا باعتبارها سادس أكبر اقتصاد في العالم مع سوق سريع النمو بالإضافة إلى الهيكل القانوني في البلاد، وما تقدم من حوافز مشجعة للاستثمار الأجنبي وتوطين الإنتاج مثل عقود الاستثمار الخاصة واتفاقيات حماية الاستثمار والمناطق الاقتصادية الخاصة. وقدَم المدير العام والرئيس التنفيذي لـ QRITA السيد أوليغ تشيشز وكبار المحامين من مكتب Eversheds Sutherland في موسكو، وهم السيد يوري بوجاتش – رئيس ممارسة إدارة التقاضي والنزاعات، والسيد أندريه غراتشيف – رئيس الممارسات الضريبية، والمستشار السيد نيكيتا بوتينكو، للمستثمرين القطريين المحتملين رؤى حول ممارسة الأعمال التجارية في روسيا وما يجب مراعاته بهدف الاستثمار في السوق الروسية.

ووفقا للندوة، بلغ إجمالي الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر في روسيا 49 مليار دولار، وحتى الآن، تبلغ استثمارات قطر في روسيا 13 مليار دولار. ووضح المتحدثون خلال الندوة أنه من أجل دخول السوق الروسية، يمكن للمستثمرين إنشاء كيان قانوني روسي، شركة ذات مسؤولية محدودة أو شركة مساهمة، أو تسجيل فرع أو مكتب تمثيلي في روسيا بالاضافة الى خيارات أخرى، مثل المشاريع المشتركة مع شركاء روس أو التواجد غير المباشر من خلال إبرام اتفاقيات مع شركاء روس.
