Dr. Al-Maslamani: All coronavirus mutations are now present in Qatar

Doha: Dr. Yousef Al-Maslamani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital, stressed that travel and social behaviors during Eid al-Adha led to a rise in the number of Coronavirus infections during the past period, noting that the increased frequency of vaccination prevented the increase in infections significantly. Dr. Al-Maslamani told Qatar TV’s Social Distance programme yesterday: The number of virus infections was stable until the eighth day after Eid al-Adha, and the numbers have risen since then.

He added: “All the coronavirus mutations have become present in Qatar, including Delta mutation as a result of the return of some from travel, especially from countries with high numbers of infections, pointing out that the measures that have been taken since the emergence of this mutation last February were aimed at delaying its arrival in Qatar, and indeed when the mutation arrived in Qatar the numbers of vaccinated people in the country increased significantly, which contributed to reducing the risk of spreading in the country on a large scale, and stressed that Qatar is at the forefront of the fight against Coronavirus as a result of efforts to curb the spread of the virus, he said, adding that vaccinations are available in the country in sufficient numbers. He predicted that the number of infections will increase in the coming period with the return of travellers from abroad, stressing the need for returnees, particularly from red states, to abide by the time limit for home quarantine, and that there should be an obligation not to visit and move until the end of the quarantine period.

الدوحة: أكّد الدكتور يوسف المسلماني، المُدير الطبي لمستشفى حمد العام، أن السفر والسلوكيات الاجتماعيّة خلال عيد الأضحى المُبارك أدّت إلى ارتفاع في أعداد الإصابات بفيروس كورونا خلال الفترة الماضية، مُشيرًا إلى أن زيادة وتيرة التطعيم حالت دون ارتفاع الإصابات بشكل كبير. وقال د. المسلماني، لبرنامج المسافة الاجتماعيّة المُذاع أمس على تلفزيون قطر: إن أعداد الإصابات بالفيروس كانت مُستقرة حتى ثامن يوم بعد عيد الأضحى المُبارك، ثم ارتفعت الأعداد منذ ذلك الحين وحتى الآن.

وأضاف: إن كل متحوّرات فيروس كورونا أصبحت موجودة في قطر، بينها متحوّر دلتا نتيجة لعودة البعض من السفر، لا سيما من الدول التي ترتفع فيها أعداد الإصابات بالفيروس، لافتًا إلى أن الإجراءات التي كان يتم اتخاذها منذ ظهور هذا المتحوّر في شهر فبراير الماضي كان الهدف منها تأخير وصوله إلى قطر، وبالفعل عندما وصل المتحوّر إلى قطر كانت أعداد المطعمين في البلاد ارتفعت كثيرًا، ما ساهم في الحدّ من خطورة انتشاره في البلاد على نطاق واسع. وأكد أن قطر في مقدمة الدول في مُكافحة فيروس كورونا نتيجة للجهود التي تمّ اتخاذها للحدّ من انتشار هذا الفيروس، مُضيفًا: إن التطعيمات متوفّرة في البلاد وبأعداد كافية. وتوقع أن تشهد أعداد الإصابات بالفيروس ارتفاعًا خلال الفترة المُقبلة مع عودة المُسافرين من الخارج، مُشددًا على ضرورة أن يلتزم العائدون لا سيما من الدول الحمراء بالفترة المُحددة للحجر المنزلي، وأن يكون هناك التزام بعدم الزيارات والتنقّل حتى انتهاء فترة الحجر.
