Qatar Airways Engages with IATA on Environmental Sustainability Training

Doha: Qatar Airways has selected the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Environmental Sustainability in Aviation Program, offered in partnership between the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the University of Geneva, to provide environmental sustainability training to its employees.
Qatar Airways is the first airline in the Middle East to secure accreditation to the highest level in the IATA Environmental Assessment Programme (IEnvA). With the increasing focus on aviation and the environment, the program is built according to the needs of the industry, so that managers and business leaders will be better prepared to tackle tomorrows demands in ensuring environmental sustainability.
The program consists of six modules: Design a Sustainability Strategy, Environmental Management Systems in Aviation Intensive, Responsible Leadership, Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), Corporate Social Responsibility and Organizational Ethics, and Carbon Markets and Aviation. These courses will help aviation professionals to understand how to lead and make decisions responsibly and avoid ethical blindness.
Qatar Airways has committed to training its employees and sharing its knowledge in developing a well-versed sustainability strategy and best practices on implementing an effective environmental management system.
HE Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker, said: “Talent development is vital to sustainable business growth and success. Employees need to acquire the knowledge, skills and values to act for the planet, enabling them to serve as driving forces of Qatar Airways sustainable environmental management. We encourage the industry to follow our lead in educating employees in environmental sustainability training as a step towards achieving the industrys sustainability goals.”
Willie Walsh, IATAs Director General, said, “We are honored that Qatar Airways has selected our new Environmental Sustainability training to ensure that its employees can acquire the new skill set needed, as the industry emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic and begins to rebuild based in a more sustainable manner.”
As Qatar Airways continues to incorporate environmental sustainability, as well as sound business practices into its daily operations, it believes that employees must be given opportunities to learn how to be proactive in pursuit of sustainable environmental management in their own operations.

الدوحة: أعلنت الخطوط الجوية القطرية، أنها ستتيح لموظفيها التدريب على الاستدامة البيئية، من خلال شهادة برنامج الدراسات المتقدمة في مجال الاستدامة البيئية في قطاع الطيران التي يتم منحها بالتعاون مع اتحاد النقل الجوي الدولي /إياتا/ وجامعة جنيف.
وذكرت /القطرية/ أنه تمّ تصميم البرنامج المذكور مع التركيز على قطاع الطيران والاستدامة البيئية، وبما يتماشى مع احتياجات القطاع بحيث يصبح المديرون وقادة الأعمال على أتم استعداد لتلبية المطالب المستقبلية المتعلقة بضمان الاستدامة البيئية، مشيرة إلى أنها هي أول شركة طيران في الشرق الأوسط تحصل على أعلى درجات الاعتماد ضمن برنامج التقييم البيئي لاتحاد النقل الجوي الدولي /IEnvA/.
ويتألف البرنامج من ست وحدات، هي تصميم استراتيجية الاستدامة، وأنظمة الإدارة البيئية في مجال الطيران المكثف، والقيادة المسؤولة، ووقود الطيران المستدام /SAF/، والمسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات والأخلاقيات التنظيمية، وأسواق الكربون والطيران.
وأوضحت أن من شأن هذه الدورات مساعدة العاملين في قطاع الطيران على فهم آلية القيادة واتخاذ القرارات بمسؤولية وتجنّب العمى الأخلاقي، مبينة التزامها بتدريب موظفيها ومشاركة خبراتها، لوضع استراتيجية مدروسة للاستدامة، مع اتّباع أفضل الممارسات لتطبيق نظام فعّال للإدارة البيئية.
وقال سعادة السيّد أكبر الباكر الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية، إن تنمية المواهب تعتبر أمراً أساسيّاً لتحقيق النمو والنجاح بصورة مستدامة في الأعمال التجارية، وأنه يتعيّن على الموظفين اكتساب المعرفة والمهارات والقيم اللازمة لخدمة كوكب الأرض، بالإضافة إلى تمكينهم من العمل بوصفهم قوى دافعة في مجال الإدارة البيئية المستدامة للخطوط الجوية القطرية.
من جانبه، عبّر السيد ويلي والش المدير العام لاتحاد النقل الجوي الدولي /إياتا/، عن سروره باختيار الخطوط الجوية القطرية لبرنامج الاتحاد التدريبي الجديد الخاص بمجال الاستدامة البيئية والذي سيتيح لموظفي الناقلة إمكانية الحصول على المهارات الجديدة اللازمة، في الوقت الذي يتعافى فيه قطاع الطيران من جائحة كورونا /كوفيد – 19/، ويبدأ بإعادة البناء على أسس أكثر استدامة.
وقد شرعت الخطوط الجوية القطرية في تنفيذ برنامج للتعليم الإلكتروني، لزيادة الوعي بالاستدامة البيئية في صفوف موظفيها، كي يتمكنوا من تعلّم كيفية تطبيق المبادئ البيئية بفعالية في العمليات التشغيلية اليومية في أقسامهم.
