“Falcon” gold sculpture to bid farewell to visitors to HIA

Doha: Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of Museums, announced the unveiling of Falcon, a new sculpture at Hamad International Airport by Tom Claassen.

Her Excellency said in an Instagram post:

“Falcon is a bird that has a historical and national connection to Qatar. The artist took inspiration from the soft falcon’s feathers and the more vivid lines mimic the airline’s routes from Qatar to the rest of the world, as well as the curves that can be found in Arabic calligraphy and the folds in fabric of traditional attire”.

Adding: “The Falcon sits on a ledge at the Airport, exuding royalty with its gold finish. You can also find Qatar’s national animal ‘8 Oryx’s” by the artist at the arrivals hall in the airport.”

الدوحة: أعلنت سعادة الشيخة المياسة بنت حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس أمناء متاحف عن إزاحة الستار عن “صقر” وهو منحوتة جديدة بمطار حمد الدولي للفنان توم كلاسن.

وقالت سعادتها في تغريدة على حسابها بموقع الانستجرام: الصقر من الطيور التي له ارتباط تاريخي ووطني بدولة قطر. استلهم الفنان خطوط المنحوته من ريش الصقر الناعم وخطوط الطيران التي تنطلق من قطر للعالم، كما وجد الإلهام كذلك في انحناءات الخط العربي وطيات ملابسنا التقليدية”.

وأضافت:” يقف الصقر شامخاً بحلته الذهبيه ليودع زوار مطار حمد الدولي. يمكنكم مشاهدة اعمال الفنان كذلك من المها العربي في صالة القادمين بالمطار”.
