We’ve overcome the danger in Qatar, but . . The joy of Eid does not mean kissing or shaking hands

Doha: When will this epidemic end and we return to the way we were? The holidays during the past period have lost their elegance, and the events have become fraught with many risks, majalis have become hotbeds of transmission of the virus, shaking hands is forbidden, kissing is rejected, until we ended up abandoning our parents and all those we love.

All this, but no one can deny the awareness of Qatari society during the past period, as members of this community have been able to confront one of the most widespread and deadly viruses in the world, which has necessitated a sharp reduction in coronavirus infections and near-disappearance of deaths.

Recently, however, it has been noted that some of the usual “previous” societal methods and rituals, such as hand shaking and kissing are the best, most distinctive and accomplished means of transmitting COV among members of society.

A few days separate us from the first days of Eid al-Adha, and it is obvious that people will meet for greetings, peace, dining, exchange of conversations and memories, and with a simple analysis we can say that the eid al-Adha period is perhaps one of the most difficult periods of facing the virus because of the meetings mentioned above.

Therefore, the lack of attention to precautionary measures will show its results days after the end of Eid, as the failure to comply with the procedures will immediately reflect on the rise in cases of infection and the emergence of new waves that may carry modern strains, after which the stakeholders may be forced to return us to square one, to reduce the spread of the virus.

الدوحة: متى سينتهي هذا الوباء ونعود كما كنا؟ الأعياد خلال الفترة الماضية فقدت رونقها، والمناسبات باتت محفوفة بكثير من المخاطر، المجالس غدت بؤر لنقل الفيروس، السلام ممنوع، التقبيل مرفوض، حتى وصل الأمر بنا لهجر أهلنا وكل من نحب..

كل هذا، ولكن لا يمكن لأحد لأن ينكر مدى وعي المجتمع القطري خلال الفترة الماضية، فقد تمكن أفراد هذا المجتمع من مواجهة واحد من أخطر الفيروسات انتشاراً وقتلا في العالم كوفيد 19 وأخواته، الأمر الذي استدعى انخفاضاً حاداً في الإصابات بفيروس كورونا وشبه اختفاء لحالات الوفاة.

بيد أنه في الفترة الأخيرة لوحظ عودة بعض الأساليب والطقوس المجتمعية الاعتيادية “سابقا”، كالسلام باليد والتقبيل على الوجه أو “الخشم”، وهي الوسيلة الأفضل والأميز والأنجز في نقل فيروس كورونا بين أفراد المجتمع.

أيام قليلة تفصلنا عن أول ايام عيد الأضحى المبارك، وبديهي أن يجتمع الناس للمعايدة والسلام وتناول الطعام وتبادل الأحاديث والذكريات، وبتحليل بسيط يمكن القول بأن فترة عيد الأضحى ربما تعتبر من أصعب فترات مواجهة الفيروس لما تشهده من لقاءات واجتماعات سالفة الذكر.

وعليه فإن عدم الاهتمام بالإجراءات الاحترازية ستظهر نتائجه بعد أيام من نهاية العيد، فعدم التقيد بالإجراءات سينعكس بشكل فوري على ارتفاع حالات الإصابة وظهور موجات جديدة قد تحمل في خباياها سلالات حديثة، قد تضطر الجهات المعنية بعدها إلى العودة بنا إلى المربع الأول، للحد من انتشار الفيروس.
