Ashghal to open Tilted Intersection to traffic on Friday
«أشغال» تفتتح التقاطع المائل أمام الحركة المرورية الجمعة المقبل
Doha: Ashghal will open the Tilted Intersection to traffic on Friday, October 4, 2019. The intersection will include a signalized roundabout, which is designed differently from usual roundabouts. The new design will have Khalifa Avenue main free flow traffic pass through it, similar to Gharrafat Al Rayyan Interchange to facilitate the traffic and to serve as a link between Doha, Dukhan, Al Gharrafa and Al Rayyan.
The new intersection will facilitate the access to several vital facilities in the area such as Sidra Medical, Qatar National Convention Center, Qatar Foundation and Education City.
Moreover, the number of lanes at the new intersection has been increased, with three main lanes in each direction and two service lanes to accommodate approximately 8,500 vehicles.
Abdullah Qasim, project engineer, confirmed that the opening of the Tilted Intersection will improve traffic in all directions, specifically for road users heading to Doha, Dukhan, Al Gharrafa, Al Rayyan and Al Luqta.
Ashghal opened in early September a 2.7 kilometer tunnel at the Tilted Intersection, which significantly reduce traffic congestion and travel time for road users heading to Al Luqta, Huwar Street, Al Gharafa Street and Khalifa Avenue.
Directions of Tilted Intersection
Road users on Al Luqta Street will have to use the main road passing through the roundabout to go to Dukhan and vice versa. As for the road users on Al Luqta Street, heading north towards Al Gharrafa or South towards Al Rayyan, will have to use the service lanes, take the roundabout and follow the signs to reach their destinations.
Traffic Diversion
In order to allow the opening of the new Interchange and accelerate the completion of the remaining works, Ashghal will implement a temporary traffic diversion, for four hours on the Tilted Intersection starting Thursday October 3 2019 at midnight
From Al Rayyan to Doha and Dukhan
Road users on Huwar Street will have to use the new tunnel until Shaikh Faisal Roundabout, where they can make a U-turn and follow the directional signs to their destinations.
From Doha to Al Rayyan
Road users on Al Luqta Street heading towards Al Rayyan, will have to continue straight until Gharrafat Al Rayyan Interchange, where they can make a U-turn and follow the directional signs to their destinations.
Khalifa Avenue Milestones
The Public Works Authority has completed the asphalt works on Al Luqta main road which consists of four lanes in each direction from the east of Tilted Intersection until west of Al Wajbah Interchange.
In addition to the main road opening, Ashghal had opened the two –way parallel service roads, which connects major facilities such as Qatar Foundation, Sidra Medial and Qatar National Convention Centre.
The Public Works Authority has opened important sections of Khalifa Avenue Project, such as significant sections of the vital three-level Bani Hajer interchange. The complex interchange which replaced the previous roundabout accommodates approximately 1,500 vehicles per hour and provides free traffic flow movements and is a key access to Dukhan Road, Al Luqta Street and Al Rayyan Road, as well as the residential areas around such as Bani Hajer, Al Rayyan, Gharrafat Al Rayyan and Al Gharrafa. The intersection is comprised of two bridges, two underpasses, three ramps (right turn exits) and two loops to provide connectivity in all directions. Upon completion, the interchange will boast a unique 300-meter multipurpose bridge, the first of its kind in Qatar, along with cycle and pedestrian lanes.
Ashghal has completed 92% of construction works on Khalifa Avenue Project, which is scheduled to be completed in Q3 2020. Upon completion, the project will deliver approximately 11.6 km of dual carriageway with four lanes in each direction besides seven major interchanges, service roads along the carriageway, in addition to cycle, pedestrian and camel paths which will be on the south side of Al Luqta Street.
أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة أشغال عن افتتاح التقاطع المائل أمام الحركة المرورية يوم الجمعة المقبل، ضمن أعمال مشروع طريق خليفة أفنيو، وذلك بالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة للمرور.
وأفادت أشغال بأن التقاطع المائل يتضمن دوارا بإشارات ضوئية، ويتخذ هذا الدوار تصميما مختلفا عن الدوارات المعهودة، حيث يشق منتصفه الطريق الرئيسي لخليفة أفنيو مثل تقاطع غرافة الريان ليسهل الحركة المرورية دون توقف، ليربط الحركة المرورية بين الدوحة ودخان والغرافة والريان.
ومن المقرر أن يسهل التقاطع الوصول إلى العديد من المرافق الحيوية مثل مستشفى سدرة للطب ومركز قطر الوطني للمؤتمرات ومؤسسة قطر والمدينة التعليمية.
وتم زيادة عدد المسارات في التقاطع الجديد عن التقاطع القديم حيث تم توفير ثلاثة مسارات رئيسية في كل اتجاه ومسارين للخدمات لتستوعب نحو 8500 مركبة.
من جانبه، أكد عبدالله قاسم، مهندس المشروع، أن افتتاح التقاطع المائل سيعمل على تحسين الحركة المرورية في كافة الاتجاهات سواء أمام المتجهين إلى الدوحة أو دخان أو الغرافة أو الريان أو اللقطة.
ولفت إلى أن التصميم الجديد للتقاطع المائل سيحقق انسيابية مرورية وسيخفض زمن الرحلة، خاصة بعد افتتاح نفق التقاطع المائل الذي افتتح مطلع شهر سبتمبر الماضي، حيث يوفر تدفقا مروريا حرا بين الغرافة والريان.
وافتتحت “أشغال” خلال شهر سبتمبر الماضي نفق التقاطع المائل بطول 2.7 كيلومتر ليتكامل مع التقاطع المائل، الأمر الذي سيساهم بشكل كبير في تخفيف الزحام وخفض زمن الرحلة أمام المتجهين إلى شارع اللقطة وشارع حوار وشارع الغرافة وطريق خليفة أفنيو.
جدير بالذكر أن أشغال أنجزت نحو 92 بالمائة من أعمال مشروع خليفة أفنيو الذي من المقرر أن يكتمل بحلول الربع الثالث من عام 2020، والذي سيوفر عند اكتماله ما يقارب 6ر11 كيلومتر من المسار المزدوج مع أربعة مسارات في كل اتجاه، إلى جانب سبعة تقاطعات متعددة المستويات وطرق خدمية على طول أجزاء من الطريق، بالإضافة إلى ممرات للمشاة وراكبي الدراجات الهوائية وممر للجمال في الجزء الجنوبي من شارع اللقطة.
