Washington: Google has redesigned the home page of its cloud storage service Drive application on Android and iOS with a new user interface that allows faster access to files.

On the main page of the Drive application, Google has stopped using the cards method – which includes a file preview – in the Suggested Files tab, as the preview always appeared in a very small, indistinguishable way. Instead, Google will replace the view option with a list format to show more recently opened, shared, or edited files with an indication of recent activities performed on the file, such as comments and replies, below the file name.

Google replaced the notifications view with the activity view which was recently launched on the web, and in the activity view, the card style is used to see items that need your attention, such as pending access requests, recent comments, and awaiting approvals. On the other hand, it added a new circular icon in the form of a camera as a floating action button above the New button, from which you can access the camera and scan documents.

If the user does not want to rely on the application’s home page by default, the application will be opened on the tab used last time.

Google will launch the Drive application with its renewed main interface in the coming weeks for all Workspace service subscribers, in addition to free personal account holders.

The Drive application has received some new features recently, including viewing two pages together when opening PDF files, with the feature of drawing and shading, and new options for searching for files are also being tested.

واشنطن: أعادت شركة جوجل تصميم الصفحة الرئيسية لتطبيق خدمة التخزين السحابي التابعة لها (درايف) في نظامي أندرويد و iOS، مع واجهة مستخدم جديدة تتيح الوصول بنحو أسرع إلى الملفات.

وفي الصفحة الرئيسية لتطبيق درايف، أوقفت جوجل استخدام أسلوب البطاقات – الذي يتضمن معاينة الملف – في تبويب (الملفات المقترحة Suggested)، إذ كانت المعاينة تظهر دائما بشكل صغير جدا لا يمكن تمييزه، وبدلا من ذلك، ستبدل جوجل خيار العرض إلى شكل قائمة لإظهار المزيد من الملفات التي جرى فتحها أو مشاركتها أو تحريرها حديثا مع الإشارة إلى الأنشطة الأخيرة التي أجريت في الملف كالتعليقات والردود، أسفل اسم الملف.

واستبدلت جوجل تبويب (النشاط Activity) بتبويب (الإشعارات) مثلما فعلت حديثا في نسخة الويب، وفي تبويب (النشاط Activity) يستخدم أسلوب البطاقات لعرض العناصر التي تتطلب اهتمام المستخدم مثل طلبات الوصول المعلقة والتعليقات الأخيرة والموافقات المنتظرة، في المقابل أضافت أيقونة دائرية جديدة في شكل كاميرا كزر إجراء عائم أعلى زر (جديد)، ويمكن من خلاله الوصول إلى الكاميرا وإجراء مسح للمستندات.

وفي حال كان المستخدم لا يرغب في الاعتماد على الصفحة الرئيسية للتطبيق افتراضيا، فسيجري فتح التطبيق على علامة التبويب المستخدمة آخر مرة.

وستطلق جوجل تطبيق درايف بواجهته الرئيسية المجددة خلال الأسابيع القادمة لكافة مشتركي خدمات ورك سبيس، بالإضافة إلى أصحاب الحسابات الشخصية المجانية.

وحصل تطبيق درايف على بعض المزايا الجديدة في الآونة الأخيرة، ومنها استعراض صفحتين معا عند فتح ملفات PDF، مع خاصية الرسم والتظليل، كما يجري اختبار خيارات جديدة للبحث عن الملفات.
