Qatar plays a pivotal role in supporting Gaza’s resilience

Doha: Qatar is keen to provide humanitarian and development assistance to improve the difficult living conditions faced by the Palestinian people at all times, especially in times of war and aggression, through its official and charitable institutions, and stands at the forefront of supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people. In this context, the Initiative of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza came in the distribution of emergency relief assistance to the families of martyrs whose homes are destroyed in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, which is part of Qatar’s efforts to support the residents of the Gaza Strip and stand by their side under the current circumstances.

For its part, the Qatari Red Crescent has allocated US$1 million in an urgent response to recent events in Palestine to provide basic needs. The Qatar Charitable Society has also allocated US$5 million to provide urgent humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

In view of its faith and firm position and policy in supporting the Palestinian cause, Qatar has for many years begun to provide its economic and humanitarian support to the palestinian people in general and to the people of the besieged Gaza Strip in particular, because of the occasional wars waged by the occupying forces. Gaza, where more than 2 million Palestinians live, is suffering from deteriorating economic and living conditions as a result of the Israeli blockade imposed on it since 2006, which has increased unemployment, raised poverty and doubled the suffering of Palestinians, due to the reduction of health services due to running out of fuel for generators and the lack of medicines and medical supplies.

To alleviate this suffering, Qatar is contributing generously to the reconstruction of the destruction of repeated Israeli aggression, infrastructure, the development of health centres and the construction of housing units, as well as financial assistance to poor families, the construction of schools and fuel for the operation of Gaza’s only power plant.

الدوحة: تحرص قطر على تقديم المساعدات الإنسانية والتنموية لتحسين الأوضاع المعيشية الصعبة التي يواجهها الشعب الفلسطيني في كل الأوقات، وخصوصا في زمن الحرب والعدوان، عبر مؤسساتها الرسمية والخيرية، وهي تقف في طليعة الدول الداعمة لصمود الشعب الفلسطيني. وفي هذا السياق جاءت مبادرة اللجنة القطرية لإعادة إعمار غزة في توزيع مساعدات إغاثية عاجلة لأهالي الشهداء والمهدمة منازلهم في القطاع بسبب العدوان الإسرائيلي المتواصل، وهي مساعدات تأتي ضمن جهود قطر لمساندة سكان القطاع والوقوف بجانبهم في ظل الظروف الراهنة.

من جانبه، خصص الهلال الأحمر القطري مليون دولار أمريكي كاستجابة عاجلة للأحداث الأخيرة في فلسطين لتوفير الاحتياجات الأساسية. كما خصصت جمعية قطر الخيرية 5 ملايين دولار أمريكي لتوفير الاحتياجات الإنسانية العاجلة في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية المحتلة.

ومن منطلق إيمانها وثبات موقفها وسياستها في دعم القضية الفلسطينية، بدأت قطر منذ سنوات طويلة تقديم دعمها الاقتصادي والإنساني للشعب الفلسطيني الشقيق بشكل عام ولسكان قطاع غزة المحاصر بشكل خاص، بسبب الحروب التي تشنها عليه قوات الاحتلال بين الحين والآخر. وتعاني غزة، حيث يعيش أكثر من مليوني فلسطيني، أوضاعاً اقتصادية ومعيشية متردية جراء الحصار الإسرائيلي المفروض عليها منذ 2006، الذي تسبّب في زيادة معدّلات البطالة ورفع نسبة الفقر ومضاعفة معاناة الفلسطينيين، بسبب تقليص الخدمات الصحية جراء نفاد الوقود المشغل للمولدات الكهربائية، ونقص الأدوية والمستلزمات الطبية.

وللتخفيف من هذه المعاناة، تساهم قطر بدعم سخي، في إعادة إعمار ما خلفه العدوان الإسرائيلي المتكرر والبنية التحتية وتطوير المراكز الصحية وبناء وحدات سكنية، فضلاً عن المساعدات المالية للأسر الفقيرة وإنشاء المدارس وتوفير الوقود من اجل تشغيل محطة الكهرباء الوحيدة في غزة.
