MEC, Qatar University sign MoU on economic research cooperation

DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce signed yesterday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar University, to promote cooperation across various economic research fields.

Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Director of Economic Policy and Research at the Ministry, and Dr Khalid Shams Abdulqader, Dean of the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University co-signed the MoU.

The MoU is aimed at enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and QU in a bid to develop mutually beneficial relations. In line with the MoU, both parties will cooperate in various economic research projects and fields of common interest that have been prioritised in the national strategy such as macroeconomic and economic policies, entrepreneurship, information technology and sustainable economic development.

The main annual report on Qatar’s economy will represent one of the key cooperation projects. The report touches on a number of key economic issues, including the investment environment, productivity, competitiveness, and a number of economic sectors.

Both parties also agreed to develop economic models and publish qualitative economic reports in addition to organising joint training workshops.

The signing of the MoU was followed by a meeting to prepare for the main annual report on Qatar’s economy, which covers a number of topics including: the investment environment, productivity, competitiveness, macroeconomic policies and economic priority sectors.

During the meeting, participants agreed on a work plan and the role and responsibilities assigned to the Department of Economic Policy and Research at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University.

وقعت وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة، أمس الثلاثاء، مذكرة تفاهم مع جامعة قطر للتعاون في المجالات البحثية الاقتصادية المختلفة، وقد مثل وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة السيد سعود بن عبد الله بن حمد العطية مدير إدارة السياسات والبحوث الاقتصادية، فيما مثل جامعة قطر السيد الدكتور خالد شمس العبد القادر، عميد كلية الإدارة والاقتصاد.

يأتي توقيع مذكرة التفاهم بهدف تعزيز التعاون بين الطرفين، لتطوير علاقات تحقق الفائدة المشتركة لهما. وبموجب هذا التفاهم، سيتعاون الطرفان في المشاريع والمجالات البحثية الاقتصادية المختلفة ذات الاهتمام المشترك، التي تشكل أولويات الاستراتيجية الوطنية، مثل مجالات الاقتصاد الكلي، والسياسات الاقتصادية، وريادة الأعمال، وتكنولوجيا المعلومات، والقطاعات الاقتصادية الأخرى، والتنمية الاقتصادية المستدامة.

ويعتبر التقرير السنوي الرئيسي للاقتصاد القطري من أهم المشاريع المتفق عليها، ويتناول عدداً من المواضيع الاقتصادية المهمة، منها: بيئة الاستثمار، والإنتاجية، والقدرة التنافسية، والقطاعات الاقتصادية المختلفة.

كما تم الاتفاق على تطوير النماذج الاقتصادية، ونشر التقارير الاقتصادية النوعية، بالإضافة إلى الورش التدريبية المتبادلة بين الطرفين.

هذا؛ وأعقب توقيع مذكرة التفاهم، عقد اجتماع بشأن إعداد التقرير الاقتصادي الرئيسي السنوي لدولة قطر، والذي يتناول عدداً من المواضيع، منها: بيئة الاستثمار، الإنتاجية، القدرة التنافسية، الاقتصاد الكلي، والقطاعات ذات الأولوية الاقتصادية الأخرى.

وتم خلال الاجتماع الاتفاق على خطة العمل، وأدوار ومسؤوليات كل من إدارة السياسات والبحوث الاقتصادية بوزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة وكلية الإدارة والاقتصاد بجامعة قطر.;
