PSA suspends field work for Census 2020

Doha: The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) yesterday suspended, until further notice, the field work to collect data of families and individuals as part of the General Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020, which was scheduled to be launched on March 22.
The PSA added that the suspension of the field phase of census to collect data of families and individuals comes in accordance with the preventive and precautionary measures taken by the State to limit the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and for the sake of the safety of families, individuals and field researchers.
During the suspension period, the Authority noted that it will continue with the procedures for improving technical and statistical infrastructure and carrying out the necessary experiments and tests, in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
The PSA had completed all phases of the census that precedes the phase of collecting data from families and individuals by preparing well for the census, coordinating and linking with data sources in the country, building systems, programs and databases, collecting data of buildings, housing units and establishments, and electronic registration of families and individuals who wish to fill in their data by themselves in the counting stage.

أعلن جهاز التخطيط والإحصاء، اليوم، عن تعليق أعمال مرحلة جمع بيانات الأسر والأفراد للتعداد العام للسكان والمساكن والمنشآت 2020 والتي كان من المقرر أن تنطلق ميدانيا يوم 22 مارس الجاري، وذلك حتى إشعار آخر.
وأوضح الجهاز أن تعليق مرحلة جمع بيانات الأسر والأفراد بالتعداد، يأتي وفقا للإجراءات الوقائية والاحترازية التي تقوم بها الدولة للحد من انتشار فيروس كورونا (كوفيد- 19) وحرصا على سلامة الأسر والأفراد والباحثين الميدانيين.
ونوه الجهاز بأنه سيستمر خلال فترة التعليق في إجراءات تحسين البنية التحتية التقنية والإحصائية والقيام بالتجارب والاختبارات اللازمة، بالتعاون مع الجهات ذات الاختصاص.
يشار إلى أن الجهاز كان قد أنهى جميع مراحل التعداد التي تسبق مرحلة جمع بيانات الأسر والأفراد والمتمثلة في الإعداد والتحضير للتعداد، و التنسيق والربط مع الجهات المصدرية للبيانات بالدولة، وبناء الأنظمة والبرامج وقواعد البيانات، وجمع بيانات المباني والوحدات السكنية والمنشآت، والتسجيل الإلكتروني للأسر والأفراد الراغبين في استيفاء بياناتهم ذاتيا في مرحلة العد.
