Qatar’s trade balance surges by 25.6%

DOHA: Qatar’s foreign merchandise trade balance, which is the difference between total exports and imports, surged to QR15.5bn in September this year, showing an increase of QR3.1bn or 25.6 percent compared to same month last year.

Compared to August last year, the trade balance has recorded a decline 11.8 percent, showed the preliminary report by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) on foreign trade statistics for September.

The value of Qatari exports (including exports of local origin and re-exports) amounted to QR26.8bn, an increase of 30.2 percent compared to the same month of last year and a rise of 1.5 percent from August this year.

The increase in the value of imports reached about QR11.4bn, showing an increase of 37 percent compared to the same period last year, and by 27.7 percent compared to August this year.

Confirming the positive momentum in the economy, a similar report, released by Qatar Chamber yesterday, stated that Qatar’s non-oil exports have reached QR18.03bn in the first nine months of 2018, reflecting a 36.5 percent year-on-year growth over QR13.02bn in the same period of 2017.

Non-oil exports in September 2018 reached QR1.64bn, a 4.6 percent increase compared to the QR1.57bn reported in September 2017, said the report.

According to MDPS report, exports of “Gases and other hydrocarbons” increased to QR16.8bn, showing an increase of 47.4 percent compared to September last year.

The value of exports of “oils and oils obtained from non-ferrous mineral raw materials” increased by 55.3 percent to about QR2.6bn, while the value of “oils and oils of raw materials of the continental crude” decreased by 6.4 percent to QR4.2bn.

Japan was the top destination country for the exports of the State of Qatar in September with exports worth about QR4.7bn, or 17.5 percent of the total value of Qatari exports. Exports to South Korea were about QR4.2bn, or 15.7 percent while exports to India were about QR4bn, representing 15.1 percent of the total value of Qatari exports.

On imports side, the United States topped the list of countries of origin for the imports of the State of Qatar during September this year with a value of about QR4bn, or 35.3 percent of the total value of merchandise imports, followed by China with QR1.1bn, equivalent to 10 percent, followed by Germany with a value of QR0.7bn, or 6.5 percent.

وأوضحت وزارة التخطيط التنموي والإحصاء، في تقريرها الأولي لإحصاءات التجارة الخارجية عن شهر سبتمبر الماضي، أن قيمة إجمالي الصادرات القطرية (التي تشمل الصادرات ذات المنشأ المحلي وإعادة التصدير) بلغت 26.8 مليار ريال تقريبا أي بارتفاع نسبته 30.2 بالمائة مقارنة بالشهر ذاته من العام الماضي، وبزيادة نسبتها 1.5 بالمائة قياسا بشهر أغسطس هذا العام.

وأشارت الوزارة إلى ارتفاع قيمة الواردات السلعية لتصل إلى نحو 11.4 مليار ريال بنسبة37.0 بالمائة قياسا بالفترة ذاتها من العام الماضي، وبنسبة 27.7 بالمائة قياسا بشهر أغسطس هذا العام.

وقياسا بشهر سبتمبر من العام الماضي، سجلت صادرات “غازات النفط والهيدروكربونات الغازية الأخرى” ارتفاعا لتصل إلى نحو 16.8مليار ريال قطري وبزيادة نسبتها 47.4 بالمائة ، كما ارتفعت قيمة صادرات “زيوت نفط وزيوت متحصل عليها من مواد معدنية قارية غير خام” بنسبة 55.3 بالمائة، مسجلة نحو 2.6 مليار ريال..في حين سجلت قيمة “زيوت نفط وزيوت مواد معدنية قارية خام” انخفاضا بنسبة 6.4 بالمائة لتصل إلى ما يقارب 4.2 مليار ريال.

واحتلت اليابان صدارة دول المقصد بالنسبة لصادرات دولة قطر لشهر سبتمبر الماضي بقيمة 4.7 مليار تقريبا أي ما نسبته 17.5بالمائة من إجمالي قيمة الصادرات القطرية، تليها كوريا الجنوبية بقيمة بلغت حوالي 4.2 مليار ريال أي ما نسبته 15.7 بالمائة، ثم الهند بقيمة 4 مليارات ريال أي بنسبة 15.1 بالمائة تقريبا.

وجاءت مجموعة ” عنفات نفاثة وعنفات دافعة، وعنفات غازية أخرى وأجزاؤها ” على رأس قائمة الواردات السلعية، حيث بلغت قيمتها 0.4 مليار ريال تقريبا وبارتفاع نسبته 54.5 بالمائة مقارنة مع شهر سبتمبر عام 2017، تليها مجموعة ” السيارات المصممة لنقل الأشخاص “بنحو 0.3 مليار ريال وبارتفاع نسبته 0.3 بالمائة، تليها مجموعة “أجزاء الطائرات والطائرات العامودية “إلى ما يقارب 0.3 مليار ريال وبارتفاع نسبته 47.0 بالمائة.

وعلى صعيد الواردات، فقد احتلت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية صدارة دول المنشأ بالنسبة لواردات دولة قطر خلال سبتمبر هذا العام وبقيمة بلغت حوالي 4 مليارات ريال أي بنسبة 35.3 بالمائة من إجمالي قيمة الواردات السلعية، ثم الصين بقيمة 1.1 مليار ريال أي ما يعادل 10.0 بالمائة، تليها المانيا بقيمة 0.7 مليار ريال أي بنسبة قدرها 6.5 بالمائة.
