Ashghal opens the 7th bridge at Umm Lekhba intersection

Doha: Public Works Authority opens the seventh bridge on the intersection of Um Lekhba (Landmark) as part of the sabah al-Ahmad axis project on Friday, January 1st, 2021, to provide free traffic flow in front of those arriving from the North Road towards al-Markhiyya Street without the need to use the Intersection of Al Gharrafa (Immigration), which will significantly shorten the travel time.

The new bridge is the highest bridge at the vital intersection and the second highest in ⁧ #Qatar after the  Umm Besher Junction bridge on the 7th Ring Road, where the new bridge reaches about 30 metres high, one kilometre long and consists of a single track to accommodate about 2,000 vehicles per hour

Eng. Ali Saeed Ibrahim, from the Department of Highway Projects, said: The new bridge will provide free traffic flow for those coming from the north towards al-Markhiyya, which will significantly reduce the traffic pressure on Al  Shamal Road (February 22nd Street), especially on the intersection of Al Gharrafa, known as the Immigration Junction, and also added that the completion of the work of Umm Lekhba junction has reached about 96%, and the opening of the remaining two bridges is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2021.

الدوحة: افتتحت الهيئة العامة للأشغال سابع جسر على تقاطع أم لخبا (اللاندمارك) ضمن أعمال مشروع محور صباح الأحمد الجمعة 1 يناير 2021، ليوفر تدفقاً مروريا حراً أمام القادمين من طريق الشمال في اتجاه شارع المرخية دون الحاجة لاستخدام تقاطع الغرافة (الجوازات) وهو ما سيختصر زمن الرحلات بشكل كبير.

ويعتبر الجسر الجديد هو أعلى جسر في التقاطع الحيوي وثاني أعلى جسر في ⁧‫#قطر ⁩ بعد جسر تقاطع أم بشر على الطريق الدائري السابع حيث يصل ارتفاع الجسر الجديد لنحو 30 متراً، بطول واحد كيلومتر ويتألف من مسار واحد ليستوعب نحو 2,000 مركبة في الساعة.‏

وقال م. على سعيد إبراهيم، من إدارة مشاريع الطرق السريعة: الجسر الجديد سيوفر تدفقاً مرورياً حراً أمام القادمين من الشمال في اتجاه المرخية، الأمر الذي سيخفف الضغط المروري بشكل كبير على طريق الشمال (شارع 22 فبراير) خاصة على تقاطع الغرافة والمعروف بتقاطع الجوازات، و أضاف أيضا ً أنه قد بلغ إنجاز أعمال تقاطع أم لخبا نحو 96 %،  ومن المقرر افتتاح الجسرين المتبقيين في الربع الأول من 2021.
