Amir: Qatar-Italy ties old and stronger

ROME: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed thanks to President of Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella as well as his pleasure for meeting with the President in Rome, stressing that the Qatari-Italian relations are old and grown significantly stronger over the past few years in different spheres like the fields of investments. H H the Amir pointed out that there is a match in international positions of the two countries on many issues.

In joint remarks with the Italian President, H H the Amir said that there is a great development in bilateral relations between the two countries, especially the economic relations, pointing to the presence of Italian companies in the Qatari market for many years contributing to building the infrastructure.

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani added that there are also major future projects in the coming years in Qatar related to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Qatar 2022 World Cup, welcoming the Italian companies’ participation in these projects. H H the Amir added that he has discussed with the Italian President cooperation in the fields of health, culture and education.

H H the Amir said that he also discussed with the Italian President during the meeting several issues in the region, notably the Gulf crisis where the two sides agree that there is no solution to this crisis except through unconditional dialogue between all parties. H H the Amir also pointed out that the Qatari and Italian sides discussed the situation in Libya, expressing in this regard his thanks to the Italian Republic for organising the Palermo International Conference on Libya in which the State of Qatar had participated, wishing that its results would be positive and that there would be a solution to the situation in Libya without interference in the matter, and stressing at the same time, Qatar’s support for the Government of National Accord.

The Italian President welcomed H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation on his second visit to Italy. The President said that the State of Qatar is an important partner in the sensitive and important Gulf region, pointing to the continued communication between the two countries. He noted that the bilateral relations are positive, stable and have become more effective in various areas, especially economic, trade, scientific, technological and cultural sectors. He also pointed out that the agreements which are going to be signed tomorrow of on the occasion of the visit are a clear proof of the strong relations between the two countries, especially in the economic field. The President said that he had discussed with H H the Amir the issues of the Gulf region and the international community on the security level and the global challenges, stressing that dialogue is the way to resolving differences. He also explained that the talks dealt with the situation in Libya. The President expressed thanks to H H the Amir for the State of Qatar’s participation in the Palermo International Conference on Libya, wishing development and growth for Libya.

H H the Amir attended on Monday the dinner banquet, which was hosted by the President of Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in honour of H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation at the Presidential Palace “The Quirinale” in Rome.

In a welcoming speech, President Mattarella expressed friendship feelings towards H H the Amir, pointing out to the significance of his visit to the depth of the excellent bilateral relations, and praising the developmental path of the State of Qatar under the wise leadership of H H the Amir. The Italian President praised Qatar’s determination to actively integrate in the international community, referring to the reforms adopted by Qatar regarding the rights of migrant workers. He concluded his speech hoping that the Gulf crisis would be resolved through a diplomatic solution based on mutual understanding that will contribute to the stability and security of the region.

H H the Amir expressed his thanks for what the speech of the President has contained and his keenness to strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, culture, education, scientific research, health, arts and sports. He expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation between the two countries in international forums and work to support peaceful settlement of crises and disputes between countries, appreciating the invitation of the President to resolve the Gulf crisis through dialogue. H H the Amir explained that this has always been the position of Qatar about the siege which was imposed on it without justification. H H the Amir also praised Italy’s positive stance towards the Palestinian cause supporting a peaceful solution based on the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel, which will ease tensions on the regional and international levels.

H H the Amir also met with President of Italian Senate Maria Elisabetta Casellati and a number of Italian senators.

وأعرب حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى عن شكره لفخامة الرئيس سيرجيو متاريلا رئيس الجمهورية الإيطالية وعن سعادته بتواجده في إيطاليا والالتقاء مع فخامة الرئيس مرة أخرى في روما.

وأكد سموه في تصريحات مشتركة مع فخامة الرئيس الإيطالي عقب المباحثات بالقصر الجمهوري “كويرينالي” في العاصمة روما مساء أمس على أن العلاقات القطرية الإيطالية علاقات قديمة وقوية وتطورت بشكل كبير في السنوات الأخيرة في مجالات عدة مثل المجالات الاستثمارية، مشيراً إلى أن هنالك تواصل بالنسبة للمواقف الدولية وتطابق مواقف البلدين في الكثير من القضايا.

وأوضح سمو الأمير أن هنالك تطوراً في العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين لاسيما الاقتصادية، مشيراً إلى وجود شركات إيطالية تعمل في قطر منذ سنوات طويلة وتساهم في البنية التحتية، التي هي محط ترحيب، كما أن هناك مشاريع مستقبلية كبرى في السنوات القادمة في قطر متعلقة برؤية قطر الوطنية ٢٠٣٠ وبطولة كاس العالم قطر ٢٠٢٢، مرحباً سموه بالشركات الإيطالية للمشاركة في تلك المشاريع. وأضاف سموه أنه ناقش مع فخامة الرئيس الايطالي التعاون في المجال الصحي والثقافي والتعليمي.

وأضاف سمو الأمير أنه ناقش مع فخامة الرئيس الإيطالي خلال جلسة المباحثات عدة قضايا في المنطقة، أبرزها الأزمة الخليجية حيث يتفق الجانبان على أنه لا يوجد حل لهذه الأزمة إلا عبر الحوار غير المشروط بين الجميع.

كما أوضح سموه بأن الجانبان تناولا الوضع في ليبيا معرباً في هذا الصدد عن شكره للجمهورية الإيطالية على تنظيم مؤتمر باليرمو الدولي حول ليبيا الذي شاركت فيه دولة قطر، متمنياً أن تكون نتائجه إيجابية وأن يكون هنالك حل للوضع في ليبيا مع عدم التدخل في الشأن الليبي مؤكداً سموه على دعم حكومة الوفاق الوطني.

وكان فخامة الرئيس الإيطالي قد رحب بسمو الأمير والوفد المرافق في زيارته الثانية لإيطاليا موضحاً فخامته بأن دولة قطر شريك هام في منطقة الخليج الحساسة والهامة، مشيرا إلى استمرار الاتصالات بين البلدين.

وبيّن فخامة الرئيس أن علاقات التعاون الثنائية إيجابية وثابتة، توسعت وأصبحت أكثر فعالية فِي عدة قطاعات لاسيما العلاقات الاقتصادية والتجارية والعلمية والتكنولوجية والثقافية، مشيراً فخامته إلى ما سيتم التوقيع عليه غداً من اتفاقيات بمناسبة زيارة سموه لدليل قاطع على متانة العلاقات بين البلدين لاسيما على الصعيد الاقتصادي.

وأوضح فخامة الرئيس أنه ناقش مع سمو الأمير المواضيع الخاصة بمنطقة الخليج والمجتمعات الدولية على الصعيد الأمني والتحديات العالمية، مؤكداً في ذلك “أن الأصل هو الحوار في حل الخلافات”.

كما أوضح فخامته أن المباحثات تناولت الوضع في ليبيا معرباً عن شكره لسمو الأمير على مشاركة دولة قطر في مؤتمر باليرمو الدولي بشأن ليبيا متمنيا التطور والنمو لليبيا.
