New WhatsApp Version Launches for Mac Computers

Washington: Technology company Meta launched a new version of WhatsApp for Mac devices with improved design and new features.

CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg announced on his Facebook account that WhatsApp has been redesigned to become more familiar to Mac users, which helps them increase productivity when using the app on large screens.

The new version offers other features such as the possibility of easily sharing files through the in-conversation drag and drop mechanism, and reviewing more history of conversations.

WhatsApp has been testing the new Mac app for a while, and has launched a general beta version of it earlier this year, so users can try it on Mac computers with new Apple Silicon processors and MacOS 11 and more.

Users can download the new version of the WhatsApp for Mac computers through the platform’s official website, and will soon be available in the Mac app store.

Meta also launched a new version of the app for Windows systems last March, with multiple similar features, including conference calls.

WhatsApp has launched desktop versions to computers for the first time in 2016, and has since experienced many substantial changes, allowing WhatsApp to be used on a computer even if the personal phone is offline.

واشنطن: أطلقت شركة /ميتا/ نسخة جديدة من تطبيق /واتساب/ لأجهزة /ماك/ مع تصميم محسن ومزايا جديدة.

وتضمنت الميزات الجديدة، القدرة على إجراء مكالمات فيديو جماعية تصل إلى 8 أشخاص، ومكالمات صوتية تصل إلى 32 شخصا بحد أقصى.

وأعلن مارك زوكربيرج، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة ميتا، في منشور له عبر حسابه في فيسبوك أن تطبيق، /واتساب/ تمت إعادة تصميمه ليصبح مألوفا لمستخدمي أجهزة ماك، ويساعدهم على زيادة الإنتاجية عند استخدام التطبيق على شاشات كبيرة.

وتتيح النسخة الجديدة ميزات أخرى مثل إمكانية مشاركة الملفات بسهولة عن طريق آلية السحب والإفلات داخل المحادثة، واستعراض المزيد من تاريخ المحادثات.

وبدأت /واتساب/ اختبار التطبيق الجديد لأجهزة ماك منذ فترة، وقد أطلقت نسخة تجريبية عامة منه مطلع العام الجاري، حتى يتمكن المستخدمون من تجربته على حواسيب ماك لديهم بمعالجات آبل سيليكون الجديدة ونظام /ماك أو إس 11/ فما أحدث.

ويمكن للمستخدمين تحميل النسخة الجديدة من تطبيق /واتساب/ لحواسيب /ماك/ من خلال الموقع الرسمي للمنصة، كما سيتوفر قريبا في متجر /ماك آب ستور/.

يذكر أن /ميتا/ قد أطلقت أيضا نسخة جديدة من التطبيق لأنظمة ويندوز في شهر مارس الماضي، مع ميزات متعددة مماثلة، ومنها المكالمات الجماعية.

وكانت /واتساب/ قد أطلقت إصدارات سطح المكتب الموجهة إلى الحواسيب لأول مرة عام 2016، وقد شهدت منذ ذلك الحين العديد من التغييرات الجوهرية، وتسمح تلك التطبيقات باستخدام منصة واتساب على الحاسوب حتى وإن كان الهاتف الشخصي غير متصل بالإنترنت.
