Campaign to remove abandoned wooden boats launched
بدء تنفيذ حملة مكبرة لإزالة الـ”سنابيك ” المهملة بميناء الخور
DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the General Cleanliness Department launched a campaign yesterday to remove abandoned wooden boats from Al Khor Port.
The boats which are called ‘sanabik’ locally were there for a long time. “The campaign aims at maintaining general hygiene, ensuring safety of the boats in operation,” said Safar Al Shafi, Director of General Cleanliness Department.
He said that the campaign will continue for four days till the removal of all abandoned wooden boats from the port.
“All legal procedures were taken before implementation of the campaign for removing the boats. The owners of the boats were warned by putting stickers on the boats giving certain periods to get notice to remove their boats,” said Al Shafi.
He said that the abandoned boats occupied big area and caused visual pollution, adding that such boats also hinder the movements of others boats in the port and endanger the navigation and marine environment in case of sinking.
“Since the owners of these boats did not respond to the warning and they did not come to the General Cleanliness Department so the actions were taken to remove these erring boats,” said Al Shafi
He said that the erring boats will be taken to the designated place where they will be kept for a certain period.
“If boat owners will not come to the Department to claim the boats, the erring boats will be got rid finally as per the rules and regulations,” said Al Shafi.
He said that the campaign of removing abandoned erring boats will continue to cover other ports of the country including Al Wakra, Doha and Al Shamal as per the plan of the Department. He further said that the campaign of next phase will be launched at Al Wakra Port during next week.
Al Shafi has urged the owners of wooden boats to comply with the rules about maintaining hygiene at ports, to rectify the situation of their boats to avoid removal action and ensure the marine environment and navigation.
بدأت وزارة البلدية والبيئة ممثلة بإدارة النظافة العامة صباح اليوم، الأربعاء، تنفيذ حملة لإزالة السفن الخشبية المهملة “السنابيك” والمتروكة منذ فترة طويلة في ميناء الخور .
وقال السيد سفر مبارك آل شافي مدير إدارة النظافة العامة إن الحملة تستهدف الحفاظ على النظافة العامة وسلامة السفن العاملة والمنظر العام ، وتستمر لمدة 4 أيام حتى الانتهاء من إزالة جميع السفن الخشبية المهملة من الميناء ، موضحاً إنه تم اتخاذ كافة الإجراءات القانونية قبل تنفيذ حملة الإزالة، حيث تم إصدار الإنذارات ووضع الملصقات عليها والانتظار لفترة زمنية لحين قيام أصحابها بإزالتها بمعرفتهم ، حيث إنها تشغل حيزاً كبيرة وتتسبب في تشويه المنظر العام فضلاً عن إعاقتها لحركة السفن بالميناء ، كما أنها تشكل خطراً على الملاحة والبيئة البحرية في حالة غرقها، ونظراً لعدم استجابة أصحابها ومراجعتهم الإدارة لتصحيح أوضاعهم ، تم تنفيذ أعمال الإزالة لهذه المراكب المخالفة.
وأوضح بأنه سيتم نقل المراكب إلى الأماكن المخصصة لذلك والتحفظ عليها لمدة معينة وسيتم التخلص منها نهائياً في حالة عدم مراجعة أصحابها للإدارة وذلك وفقاً للإجراءات والأنظمة المعمول بها في هذا الشأن .
وأكد بأن حملة إزالة السنابيك المخالفة سوف تستمر وتشمل جميع موانىء الدولة تباعاً حسب الخطة الموضوعة بالادارة ومنها موانىء الوكرة والدوحة والشمال ، مشيراً إلى إن المرحلة المرحلة التالية ستبدأ بميناء الوكرة خلال الأسبوع القادم .
وناشد السيد آل شافي جميع أصحاب المراكب الخشبية الالتزام بالنظافة العامة للموانئ وتصحيح أوضاع المراكب المخالفة لتفادي إجراءات الإزالة والحفاظ على المنظر العام وسلامة البيئة البحرية وحركة الملاحة.
