QM and HMC launch Initiative to virtually celebrate Garangao
متاحف قطر وحمد الطبية تطلقان مبادرة للاحتفال عن بُعد بالقرنقعوه
The Peninsula – Doha:
Qatar Museums (QM) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) launched the ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ campaign, to invite families in Qatar to virtually come together and celebrate Garangao.
This initiative is part of the ongoing partnership between Qatar Museums (QM) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and aims to encourage families to practice safe social distancing while celebrating the traditional night of festivities by sharing children’s photos dressed in traditional Garangao clothes.
The photos submitted will be posted on QM and HMC Instagram pages to spread the joy and happiness of the holy month of Ramadan.
“Garangao” is a Ramadan tradition that is widely celebrated by children across Qatar and the Gulf region. On this night, children usually walk around their neighborhoods singing traditional songs that mark the occasion and receive gifts and bags of sweets from their elders.
The ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ initiative supports the wider efforts of the Ministry of Public Health, HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation, to limit the spread of COVID-19. A key goal of this initiative is to encourage social responsibility by encouraging the community to stay at home. The initiative also aims to promote virtual connections between families and friends, enabling the Garangao tradition to be preserved and celebrated despite these difficult times.
Families that wish to submit their children’s photos can send it via direct message to Qatar Museums’ Instagram account (@qatar_museums).

أطلقت متاحف قطر ومؤسسة حمد الطبية حملة “ابق بالبيت وكن سالماً”، لدعوة العائلات في قطر للاحتفال عن بُعد بالقرنقعوه.
وتعد هذه المبادرة جزءًا من الشراكة المستمرة بين متاحف قطر ومؤسسة حمد الطبية بهدف تشجيع العائلات على الاحتفاظ بالمسافة الاجتماعية الآمنة مع الاحتفال بنفس الطريقة التقليدية من خلال مشاركة صور الأطفال الذين يرتدون ملابس القرنقعوه.
وسيتم نشر الصور المقدمة على صفحة (انستغرام) الخاصة بكل من متاحف قطر ومؤسسة حمد الطبية، لإظهار فرحة وسعادة الأطفال بشهر رمضان الفضيل.
و”القرنقعوه” هو تقليد رمضاني يحتفل به الأطفال على نطاق واسع في جميع أنحاء دولة قطر ومنطقة الخليج العربي، إذ يتجول الأطفال في هذه الليلة عادةً في الأحياء المجاورة وهم يغنون الأغاني التقليدية التي تميز المناسبة ويتلقون الهدايا والحلوى من عائلاتهم وأصدقائهم.
وتدعم مبادرة “ابق بالبيت وكن سالماً” الجهود الأوسع التي تبذلها وزارة الصحة العامة، ومؤسسة حمد الطبية، ومؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، للحد من انتشار فيروس كورونا (كوفيد 19)، بهدف تشجيع المسؤولية الاجتماعية من خلال تشجيع المجتمع على البقاء في المنزل.
كما تهدف المبادرة أيضًا إلى تعزيز الاتصالات الافتراضية بين العائلات والأصدقاء، مما يسمح بالحفاظ على تقليد القرنقعوه والاحتفاء به برغم هذه الأوقات الصعبة.
