Ashghal opens Al Nasr Street, Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street and four intersections to traffic
أشغال تفتتح شارعي النصر والمرقاب الجديد وأربعة تقاطعات أمام الحركة المرورية

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced the opening of 0.6 km of Al Nasr Street and 1.8 km of Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street in addition to 4 signalised intersections to traffic, as part of the ‘Improvement of Main Roads in Al Nasr Area’ project.
Rashed Al Zeyara, Project Engineer in the Roads Projects Department, pointed out the importance of Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street and its strategic location in the heart of Fereej Al Nasr Area linking Suhaim Bin Hamad Street (C-Ring Road) and Doha Expressway, two of the most vital roads in Doha and serving a large number of daily commuters.
He also highlighted the role played by Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street and the equally important Al Nasr Street in accommodating the increasing traffic flow in the area, as both streets are located amidst densely-populated residential areas and cater to several commercial centres and shops as well as health and educational facilities and public amenities.
“Ashghal was keen to open these streets and intersections as they will significantly enhance the traffic flow in the area and improve the road network safety level in addition to facilitating access to many residential areas with heavy traffic flow such as Al Mirqab Area, Fereej Al Nasr Area, Fereej Bin Mahmoud Area and Al Sadd Area,” he said.
The four newly opened signalised intersections are:
1. The intersection of Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street with Mohammed Bin Qasim Street,
2. The intersection of Mohammed Bin Qasim Street with Al Kinana Street
3. The intersection of Othman Bin Talha Street with Mohammed Bin Qasim Street
4. The intersection of Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street with Suhaim Bin Hamad Street (C-Ring Road)
In order to alleviate the traffic congestion and enhance the traffic flow on Al Mirqab Al Jadeed Street, traffic was changed to one direction on the two lanes of the street from the intersection with Mohammed Bin Qasim Street until the intersection with Suhaim Bin Hamad Street (C-Ring Road). The layout of the rest of the street from the intersection with Mohammed Bin Qasim Street towards Al Amir Street is kept unchanged and thus accommodates one lane in each direction.
The upgrading works executed within the project also included improving the infrastructure services such as developing 8.3 km of stormwater drainage network, 6.5 km of foul sewer network and creating a 5.8 km-long Treated Sewerage Effluent (TSE) network.
Besides, the project also included the provision of 1500 parking bays and construction of pedestrian paths and crossings along with upgrading the lighting systems and placing the road markings. As part of the project, the stormwater drainage network at the intersection of Mohammed Bin Qasim Street with Al Kinana Street was also upgraded.
Ashghal will continue the upgrading works on Zaid Al Khail Street, Al Kinana Street and Al Ghouta Street as part of the project. These remaining works are scheduled to be fully completed by Q3 2020.

افتتحت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” شارعي النصر والمرقاب الجديد أمام الحركة المرورية، بالإضافة إلى أربعة تقاطعات بإشارات ضوئية جديدة. وذلك ضمن مشروع تطوير الطرق الرئيسية بمنطقة النصر.
وتتضمن التقاطعات الأربعة التي تم فتحها: تقاطع شارع المرقاب الجديد مع شارع محمد بن قاسم، وتقاطع شارع محمد بن قاسم مع شارع الكنانة، وتقاطع شارع عثمان بن طلحة مع شارع محمد بن قاسم، وتقاطع شارع المرقاب الجديد مع شارع سحيم بن حمد (الطريق الدائري الثالث).
وأوضح المهندس راشد الزيارة، مهندس المشروع بإدارة مشروعات الطرق، أن شارع المرقاب الجديد له أهمية كبيرة نظرا لموقعه الاستراتيجي حيث أنه يقع في قلب فريج النصر ويربط بين شارع سحيم بن حمد (الطريق الدائري الثالث) وشارع الأمير ليلبي احتياجات عدد كبير من المركبات التي تستخدم هذه المحاور الحيوية بشكل يومي.
وأشار إلى الدور الذي يلعبه شارع المرقاب الجديد وشارع النصر الذي لا يقل أهمية عنه في استيعاب الحركة المرورية المتزايدة نظرا للكثافة السكنية في المنطقة والمناطق المجاورة، علاوة على أن المنطقة تمثل مقصدا لعدد كبير من مستخدمي الطريق المتوجهين للمحلات والمراكز التجارية العديدة الكائنة على شارع المرقاب الجديد، فضلا عن المنشآت الصحية والمدارس والمباني العامة التي يخدمها الشارعان.
وأكد المهندس راشد الزيارة حرص “أشغال” على فتح هذه الأجزاء من المشروع أمام الحركة المرورية في أسرع وقت ممكن، لما لها من دور في تحسين القدرة الاستيعابية للطريق ورفع مستوى السلامة عليه بالإضافة إلى تسهيل عملية التنقل والوصول إلى العديد من المناطق السكنية التي تشهد كثافة مرورية عالية مثل منطقة المرقاب وفريج النصر وفريج بن محمود والسد.
يذكر أنه للحد من الازدحام المروري وتعزيز الانسيابية على شارع المرقاب الجديد، تم تحويل الحركة المرورية إلى اتجاه واحد في كلا المسارين على الجزء من تقاطع شارع المرقاب الجديد مع شارع محمد بن قاسم باتجاه شارع سحيم بن حمد (الطريق الدائري الثالث)، وإبقاء الحركة المرورية في اتجاه واحد في كل مسار على الجزء ما بين تقاطع شارع المرقاب الجديد مع شارع محمد بن قاسم باتجاه طريق الدوحة السريع.
