QEWC announces QR320m net profit for Q1

Doha: The Board of Directors of Qatar Electricity and Water Company held its second meeting for the year 2020 yesterday, chaired by Minister of Energy Affairs and Chairman of the QEWC’s Board of Directors, H E Saad bin Sharida Al Kaabi, through visual communication technology.

The Board discussed the positive financial results for the Quarter ended March 31, 2020, and the financial position as at that date which was reviewed by the auditors of the company Ernst & Young. The financial statements witnessed a net profit of QR320m (net of non-controlling interests) against QR309m for the same period of the year 2019. The Earning per Share (EPS) amounted QR0.29 in 2020 compared to QR0.28 for the same period of the year 2019.

The first quarter of the year 2020 showed sales of QR599m compared to QR539m for the same period of the year 2019.

The Board also discussed the precautions taken by QEWC and its group companies to confront the outbreak of the coronavirus and its effect on generation and desalination plants. In line with Qatar’s efforts to combat the spread of the virus, QEWC will ensure continued production of electricity and water with high efficiency during the summer period The Board expressed satisfaction with the company’s financial performance, and expressed its optimism that the company will have a promising future with projects and excellent future strategies.

عقد مجلس إدارة شركة الكهرباء والماء القطرية اجتماعه الثاني لعام 2020، مساء أمس، برئاسة سعادة المهندس سعد بن شريده الكعبي وزير الدولة لشؤون الطاقة رئيس مجلس إدارة الشركة، عن طريق تقنية الاتصال المرئي؛ حيث ناقش المجلس أداء الشركة ونتائجها المالية لفترة الأشهر الثلاثة المنتهية في 31 مارس 2020، وقد أبدى ارتياحه للنتائج المالية التي حققت بتلك الفترة، وقد اعتمد المجلس البيانات المالية عن هذه الفترة بعد مراجعتها من قِبل مراقبي حسابات الشركة السادة إرنست أند يونج. وقد أظهرت البيانات المالية للربع الأول تحقيق الشركة أرباحاً بلغت 320 مليون ريال (بعد استبعاد حصص الأقلية)، مقارنة بمبلغ 309 ملايين ريال للفترة ذاتها من عام 2019، وقد بلغ العائد على السهم 0.29 ريال للسهم الواحد، مقابل 0.28 للفترة ذاتها لعام 2019.

المبيعات

كذلك بلغت المبيعات لفترة الأشهر الثلاثة المنتهية في 31 مارس 2020، نحو 599 مليون ريال مقارنة بمبلغ 539 مليون ريال للفترة ذاتها لعام 2019.

كما تطرّق المجلس للاحتياطات التي تم اتخاذها من قِبل الشركة والشركات التابعة لها لمواجهة تفشّي وباء فيروس «كورونا» لمحطات التوليد والتحلية، وأبدى المجلس ارتياحه لما اتُّخذ من إجراءات لحماية المحطات وضمان تشغيلها وسلامة العاملين بها من أي عدوى. كما شدّد المجلس على أن تأخذ الشركة بجميع الاحتياطات المتبعة في الدولة لمكافحة انتشار الفيروس، مع ضمان استمرار إنتاج الكهرباء والماء بكفاءة عالية خلال فترة الصيف المقبل.

وقد أبدى المجلس ارتياحه لما حققته الشركة من نتائج، وأعرب عن تفاؤله بما ينتظر الشركة من مستقبل واعد مع مشروعاتها وخططها المستقبلية.
