Qatar Petroleum signs deal to reserve shipyard capacity in China
قطر للبترول توقع عقداً لحجز سعة لبناء ناقلات غاز طبيعي مُسال بالصين

Qatar Petroleum announced today that it has entered into an agreement to reserve LNG ship construction capacity in China to be utilized for Qatar Petroleum’s future LNG carrier fleet requirements, including those of its ongoing North Field expansion projects.
The agreement was entered into between Qatar Petroleum and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group (Hudong), a wholly owned subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC).
Pursuant to the agreement, a significant portion of Hudong’s LNG ship construction capacity will be reserved for Qatar Petroleum through the year 2027.
The agreement was signed by H E Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, and Lei Fanpei, the Chairman of CSSC, in a virtual ceremony held today in the presence of Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, CEO of Qatargas, and Chen Jianliang, Chairman of Hudong, as well as senior executives from Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas, CSSC and Hudong.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister said, “Today, we have taken yet another concrete step to reinforce Qatar’s commitment to its global reputation as a safe and reliable LNG producer at all times and under all circumstances. By entering into this agreement to reserve a major portion of Hudong’s LNG ship construction capacity through the year 2027, we are confident that we are on the right track to ensuring that our future LNG fleet requirements will be met in due time to support our increasing LNG production capacity.”
H E Al-Kaabi added, “The value of this landmark agreement has the potential to be well in excess of 11 billion Qatari Riyals, depending on our requirements and the extent of China’s LNG shipbuilding capacity expansion. To this end, Qatar Petroleum is pleased and proud to support the expansion of the LNG ship construction capacity in China and looks forward to further growth in the near future.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Hudong’s team for all the hard work to bring this contract to fruition during these challenging times. I would also like to thank the leadership of our esteemed partner, CSSC, for their great support to this effort in line with our mutual desire to further strengthen the excellent relations between China and Qatar, especially during the unusual circumstances the world is currently facing. I am also very grateful to the Qatar Petroleum and Qatargas teams, whose dedicated efforts were instrumental in realizing this agreement,” he concluded.
Also speaking at the virtual signing ceremony, Lei Fanpei said, “The 174,000 cubic meter LNG carrier for Qatar Petroleum is the latest generation of LNG carrier design customized by CSSC for Qatar. The carrier has the world’s leading performance for efficiency, reliability and environmental conservation, demonstrating CSSC Group’s great efforts and commitment to the success of Qatar Petroleum’s projects. The agreement signed today will be an important milestone for the cooperation of CSSC Group and Qatar Petroleum, and will make new contributions to consolidating the economic cooperation and traditional friendship between Qatar and China.”
The North Field expansion projects will increase Qatar’s LNG production capacity from 77 million tons per annum to 126 million tons per annum. Qatar Petroleum’s LNG carrier fleet program is the largest of its kind in the history of the LNG industry and will play a pivotal role in meeting the shipping requirements of Qatar Petroleum’s local and international LNG projects, as well as replacing some of Qatar’s existing LNG fleet.

أعلنت «قطر للبترول»، يوم أمس، أنها وقّعت عقداً لحجز سعةٍ لبناء عدد من ناقلات الغاز الطبيعي المسال في الصين، لتكون جزءاً من متطلبات أسطول ناقلات قطر للبترول اللازم لدعم مشاريع إنتاج الغاز الطبيعي المسال، ومن ضمنها مشاريع توسعة حقل الشمال. وتم توقيع العقد مع شركة مجموعة هودونغ-زونغوا لبناء السفن المحدودة، والمملوكة بالكامل لمؤسسة الصين الوطنية لبناء السفن المحدودة. وينص العقد على حجز حصة كبيرة من سعة بناء ناقلات الغاز في أحواض بناء السفن التابعة للشركة لصالح قطر للبترول حتى نهاية العام 2027.
وقع الاتفاقية كل من سعادة المهندس سعد بن شريده الكعبي، وزير الدولة لشؤون الطاقة، العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لقطر للبترول، والسيد لي فانبي، رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة الصين الوطنية لبناء السفن، في احتفال خاص أقيم عن بُعد باستخدام تقنية الاتصال المرئي، بحضور الشيخ خالد بن خليفة آل ثاني الرئيس التنفيذي لقطرغاز، والسيد شين جيانليانغ رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة مجموعة هودونغ-زونغوا، وعدد من كبار المسؤولين في قطر للبترول، وقطرغاز، ومؤسسة الصين الوطنية لبناء السفن، وشركة هودونغ-زونغوا.
موثوقية
وفي كلمة له خلال حفل التوقيع، قال سعادة المهندس الكعبي: «لقد أخذنا اليوم (أمس) خطوة مهمة أخرى تؤكد التزام دولة قطر بسمعتها الدولية كمورد طاقة آمن وموثوق يمكن الاعتماد عليه في جميع الأوقات وتحت جميع الظروف. وبالتوقيع على هذه الاتفاقية لحجز حصة كبيرة من طاقة شركة هودونغ لبناء ناقلات الغاز الطبيعي المسال حتى نهاية العام 2027، نكون قد قطعنا شوطاً آخر على الطريق الصحيح لضمان تلبية المتطلبات المستقبلية لأسطولنا من ناقلات الغاز الطبيعي المسال في الوقت المحدد لدعم زيادة طاقتنا الإنتاجية من الغاز الطبيعي المسال».
وأضاف سعادة الوزير : «من الممكن أن تصل قيمة هذه الاتفاقية التاريخية إلى أكثر من 11 مليار ريال، حيث يعتمد ذلك على طبيعة متطلباتنا وعلى مدى حجم التوسع في قدرة بناء السفن الصينية. لهذا، فإنه يسر قطر للبترول أن تدعم توسّع سعة بناء ناقلات الغاز الطبيعي المسال في الصين، وتتطلع لمزيد من النمو في هذا المجال في المستقبل القريب».
تصاميم
من جهته، قال السيد لي فانبي، رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة الصين الوطنية لبناء السفن، في كلمته خلال الحفل: «تعتبر ناقلة الغاز الطبيعي المسال، التي تبلغ سعتها 174 ألف متر مكعب والتي سيتم بناؤها لصالح قطر للبترول، أحدث جيل من تصاميم ناقلات الغاز الطبيعي المسال والذي خصصناه لقطر. وتتمتع الناقلة بأداء عالمي رائد من حيث الكفاءة والموثوقية والحفاظ على البيئة، مما يدل على الجهود الكبيرة التي تبذلها المجموعة وعلى التزامها تجاه نجاح مشاريع قطر للبترول. وتشكل هذه الاتفاقية التي وقعناها اليوم (أمس) معلماً مهماً للتعاون في ما بيننا، وستقدم مساهمة جديدة في تعزيز التعاون الاقتصادي والصداقة بين قطر والصين».
يذكر أن مشاريع توسعة حقل الشمال سترفع طاقة إنتاج الغاز الطبيعي المسال في قطر من 77 مليون طن سنوياً في الوقت الحاضر إلى 126 مليون طن سنوياً. ويعد برنامج قطر للبترول لبناء أسطول ناقلات الغاز الطبيعي المسال الأكبر من نوعه في تاريخ هذه الصناعة.
