HMC dentists complete global fellowship
أطباء أسنان في حمد الطبية يكملون الزمالة العالمية

Early this month, three Qatari dentists from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) completed the final examination for their international post-graduate paediatric dental fellowship.
The specialist paediatric dentistry fellowship (FFD) is offered through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and the three newest fellows have the distinction of being the first in the country to have completed the exam through video conference, a change that was necessitated by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Ghanem Al Mannai, Chairman of Dental Service at HMC, said HMC and RCSI have collaborated for several years on the specialised fellowship programme, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East.
He said the programme allows Qatari dentists to further their education and advance their paediatric dental qualifications. Dr. Al Mannai congratulated the doctors on receiving the fellowship and thanked Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Director of the Department of Medical Education, for the ongoing support of his Department.
Dr. Khalifa Ali Al Ansari, Senior Consultant and Vice-Chairman of Education, Hamad Dental Center, said the MFD Postgraduate Dental Education Program allows Qatar-based dentists to receive specialised training in Qatar, permitting them to obtain accreditation from a well-known international institution without the need to travel abroad.
“The Hamad Dental Center, in partnership with RCSI, is proud to provide this opportunity to Qatar-based dentists. Each year we organize an intensive training course to help prepare dentists from the public and private sectors to pass the admittance tests for membership into the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MFD and FFD examinations). These intensive programs spans three years and the dentists who have enrolled in the preparatory workshops we provide have achieved a high level of success. To date many of the participants have joined the specialized paediatric dentistry fellowship program offered in cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland,” said Dr. Al Ansari.
Dr. Jamal Al Abdullah, Chief of Pedodontics and Head of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program at HMC, said to date eleven Qatari dentists in the country have completed the Irish Fellowship Diploma examination. He said each year a number of Qatari dentists are accepted into the program and in the coming years there are plans to extend enrolment to the children of long-term residents and international students.
“We have agreed to partner with Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar and Sidra Medicine to encourage post-graduate dentistry students to continue their studies as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen our resources in this field and to support these professionals in passing the RCSI examinations,” said Dr. Abdullah.
“Our rigorous preparatory workshops are on par with the best in the world. Dentists who complete the Fellowship program in Qatar must meet the same test requirements as dentists who complete the program in Ireland,” added Dr. Abdullah.

عقد مركز حمد للأسنان التابع لمؤسسة حمد الطبية بالتعاون مع فرع طب الأسنان بكلية الجراحين الملكية في أيرلندا اختبارات الحصول على الزمالة الأيرلندية التخصصية في طب أسنان الأطفال عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي .
ويأتي انعقاد الاختبارات عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي تماشيا مع الإجراءات المطبقة في كافة مؤسسات دولة قطر لمواجهة فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19) .
وقد اجتازت الاختبارات بنجاح ثلاث طبيبات قطريات من كوادر مؤسسة حمد الطبية اللاتي حصلن على الزمالة الأيرلندية في طب أسنان الأطفال.
وقال الدكتور غانم المناعي رئيس خدمات الأسنان بمؤسسة حمد الطبية إن انعقاد هذا الاختبار الدولي تم وفقا لاتفاقية التعاون التعليمي الموقعة بين المؤسسة وكلية الجراحين الملكية في أيرلندا كأول تعاون لهذه الكلية المرموقة مع مؤسسة صحية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط لتقديم برنامج زمالة معتمد دوليا في تخصص طب أسنان الأطفال.
ويهدف البرنامج إلى توفير تدريب متخصص في مجال طب أسنان الأطفال لأطباء الأسنان القطريين المهتمين بتطوير مستواهم التعليمي وتحسين خبراتهم ومهاراتهم لتتوافق مع المعايير الدولية المعتمدة .
وبدوره قال الدكتور خليفة علي الانصاري نائب رئيس مركز حمد للأسنان لشؤون التعليم ، إن المركز يقوم بتأهيل أطباء الأسنان لاجتياز اختبارات الالتحاق ببرامج الدراسات العليا في طب أسنان الأطفال من خلال برنامج تحضيري متميز حيث تستمر مدة الدراسة فيه ثلاث سنوات ويكون الطبيب المقيم بعد نجاحه في هذا البرنامج مؤهلا لدخول اختبارات الحصول على الزمالة الأيرلندية التخصصية في طب أسنان الأطفال .
ويتم في اطار الاستعدادات للاختبارات عقد دورات تدريبية مكثفة في كل عام في مؤسسة حمد الطبية يقدمها مجموعة من أساتذة كلية الجراحين الملكية الأيرلندية للمشاركين في كافة الموضوعات العلمية المتعلقة بطب الأسنان وجراحاته ، من أجل زيادة فرص أطباء مؤسسة حمد الطبية للحصول على أفضل الدرجات في اختبارات الزمالة الأيرلندية التخصصية في طب الأسنان.
وأشار الدكتور خليفة الأنصاري إلى أن البرنامج المعتمد دوليا للزمالة في تخصص طب أسنان الأطفال الذي تقدمه كلية الجراحين الملكية في أيرلندا يتيح الفرصة لأطباء الأسنان القطريين لمواصلة تعليمهم العالي في قطر دون الحاجة إلى السفر للخارج بالإضافة إلى فرصة الحصول على الاعتماد من مؤسسة عالمية مرموقة.
ومن جهته أوضح الدكتور جمال العبد الله رئيس قسم طب أسنان الأطفال ومدير برنامج الدراسات العليا لطب أسنان الأطفال بمؤسسة حمد الطبية،أنه يتم قبول عدد من الطلاب القطريين كل عام ضمن برنامج الدراسات العليا للتقدم لاختبارات الزمالة الأيرلندية في تخصص طب أسنان الأطفال حيث بلغ مجموع الملتحقين بالبرنامج حتى اليوم 11 طبيبا ومن المتوقع أن يتم فتح المجال مستقبلا لأبناء المقيمين وللطلاب من دول أخرى للالتحاق بهذا البرنامج .
وقال إن البرنامج المعتمد دوليا للتعليم العالي في تخصص طب الأسنان الذي تقدمه مؤسسة حمد الطبية وكلية الجراحين الملكية بأيرلندا يتوافق مع المبادئ التوجيهية للإستراتيجية الوطنية لصحة الفم والأسنان في دولة قطر.
واشار إلى أنه تم الاتفاق مع كلية طب ويل كورنيلقطر وسدرة للطب على توفير الدعم والتسهيلات اللازمة للطلاب الملتحقين ببرنامج الدراسات العليا التخصصية في طب الأسنان من أجل اكسابهم المزيد من الخبرة المؤهلة لاجتياز اختبارات الزمالة الأيرلندية بنجاح.
