Sheikha Moza opens Equine Veterinary Medical Center
صاحبة السمو تفتتح المركز الطبي البيطري للخيل
H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, has officially opened the Equine Veterinary Medical Center – a regionally unique facility designed to provide the highest calibre of healthcare for horses while also advancing veterinary science.
During a tour of the Education City-based centre — a member of Qatar Foundation — to mark its opening yesterday, H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser was given an insight into its services, technologies, and equine healthcare practices, while also meeting members of its team, said a statement.
H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser was accompanied on the tour of the Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) by ministers and VIP guests.
“The Arabian horse breed is a respected, admired, and much-loved cornerstone of the cultural heritage of Qatar and the Arab world, and the world-class healthcare that the Equine Veterinary Medical Center provides for this symbol of our nation and region reflects its enduring, central role in our society,” said Khalifa Al Attiya, Executive Director of Al Shaqab, QF’s equine and equestrian center where the EVMC is based.
“As well as providing an exceptional standard of equine healthcare for horse-owners throughout Qatar and beyond, the center aims to be at the forefront of creating new knowledge in this field through groundbreaking research, provide opportunities for both postgraduate students and scientists, and raise awareness of the veterinary profession in Qatar. “From healthcare, education, and innovation to helping to preserve and promote a vital aspect of Qatari and Arab culture, the Equine Veterinary Medical Center reflects the overarching mission of Qatar Foundation, and we are delighted to see the benefits it is already bringing to Qatar’s equine community and the positive response to the services it provides, the role it performs, and the message it sends.”
The EVMC houses an equine referral hospital, a veterinary diagnostic laboratory, and a clinical research laboratory, with its team of veterinarians employing advanced treatments and techniques to care for horses. Its specialized services include surgery, internal medicine, rehabilitation, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, and pain management, with the center also offering a round-the-clock emergency service.
Meanwhile, EVMC’s research program is aiming to make scientific advances in the field of equine medicine through collaborations and clinical research projects, while the centre also offers educational programs.
افتتحت صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر، رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، أمس، رسمياً المركز الطبي البيطري للخيل الرائد في المنطقة، والمصمم ليوفر خدمات الرعاية الصحية والبحوث البيطرية ذات الصلة بالخيل. في إطار جولتها في المركز خلال الافتتاح، اطلعت صاحبة السمو على التجهيزات الإلكترونية رفيعة المستوى، وخدمات الرعاية الصحية الفريدة من نوعها التي يوفرها المركز، عضو مؤسسة قطر، كذلك التقت طاقم الأطباء البيطريين.
رافق صاحبة السمو خلال الجولة عدد من أصحاب السعادة الشيوخ والوزراء، الذين تعرّفوا على أهداف المركز وخدماته وأقسامه المختلفة.
في هذا السياق، قال خليفة العطية المدير التنفيذي للشقب، مركز الامتياز الرائد في عالم الخيل والتابع لمؤسسة قطر، حيث يقع المركز الطبي البيطري للخيل: «يحظى الخيل العربي باهتمام وتقدير وإعجاب كبير في دولة قطر والعالم العربي، إذ يُشكل رمزاً أساسياً من رموز تراثنا الثقافي. إن المركز الطبي البيطري للخيل، وما يوفره من خدمات صحية بيطرية عالمية المستوى، يعكس بدوره مدى أهمية الخيل ومكانتها في مجتمعنا».
وأضاف: «علاوة على ما يقدمه المركز من خدمات الطب البيطري لملاّك الخيول في قطر والخارج، يتطلع المركز أيضاً ليكون رائداً في ابتكار أحدث المعارف والبحوث الجديدة، وإتاحة الفرص لطلاب الدراسات العليا والعلماء، وتعزيز الوعي حول مهنة الطب البيطري في قطر».
تابع خليفة العطية: «يعكس المركز الطبي البيطري للخيل مهام أساسية تقوم بها مؤسسة قطر، إذ إنه يُساهم في تعزيز مجالات الرعاية الصحية والتعليم والابتكار، إضافة إلى دوره في الحفاظ على جانب مهم من جوانب ثقافتنا القطرية والعربية، ويسرّنا أن نشهد الفوائد التي يضيفها إلى مجتمع الفروسية في قطر، والتأثيرات الإيجابية للخدمات التي يقدمها، والدور الذي يؤديه، والرسالة التي يحملها».
يشتمل المركز على مستشفى للخيل، ومختبرات معتمدة للتشخيص البيطري، إلى جانب مختبر للأبحاث الإكلينيكية، ويضمّ فريقاً من الأطباء البيطريين الحريصين على تطبيق العلاجات المتقدمة لرعاية الخيول. كذلك يقدم خدمات طبية متخصصة متنوعة، بما في ذلك الجراحة، والطب الباطني، ووحدة العناية المركزة، ووحدة التناسل، وقسم التخدير والتحكم بالألم، وخدمات الطوارئ المتاحة على مدار الساعة.
يهدف البرنامج البحثي الخاص بالمركز الطبي البيطري للخيل إلى إحراز التقدم في مجال الطب البيطري للخيل من خلال التعاون وعقد الشراكات ومشاريع البحوث السريرية، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة من البرامج التعليمية.
