SC opens three public parks to mark Sport Day
«المشاريع والإرث» تفتتح 3 حدائق عامة تزامنا مع اليوم الرياضي للدولة
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) marked National Sport Day 2020 by opening three public parks.
The parks are located at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium and the former Al Ersal Station training sites cluster, which is located in Onaiza, near West Bay.
Each park features tennis and basketball courts, children’s play areas, jogging and cycling tracks, open spaces and workout equipment.
Opening the parks illustrates Qatar’s “legacy commitment to harness the power of hosting the FIFA World Cup to inspire health and fitness throughout the population”, according to a report on sc.qa.
SC secretary-general Hassan al-Thawadi said: “We are proud to open three public parks on our country’s National Sport Day. These facilities will boost local communities by providing open spaces for a vast range of leisure activities. We are pleased to be showcasing the legacy of Qatar 2022 almost three years before the tournament kicks off.”
Al Bayt Park hosted special National Sport Day activities for the Qatar Football Family, including employees from the SC, Qatar Football Association and Qatar Stars League. Meanwhile, members of the local community were invited to enjoy the facilities at Al Janoub Park and Al Ersal Park.
Qatar Stars League CEO Hani Ballan said Al Bayt Stadium Park is an icon of the 2022 Qatar World Cup stadium, adding that many activities and events were organised for the Sport Day, the official QNA reported.
Ballan explained that the activities of the National Sport Day at Al Bayt Stadium Park were not limited to those affiliated with the Football Family, but also included families and workers in the Al Khor area. It will be a legacy for the people of Al Khor and the people of Qatar in general.
Qatar Football Association secretary-general Mansour al-Ansari said the Sport Day is an opportunity for the Football Family to practise sports activities through an initiative of all government and private institutions. He added, “This year, the Sport Day celebrations were transferred to the Al Bayt Stadium Park to celebrate the opening of the new facilities.”
He called on the public to come and enjoy the atmosphere at the park.
The SC’s Yasir al-Jamal, chairman, Operations Office, and vice-chairman of the Technical Delivery Office, said: “These parks showcase our commitment to ensuring that the tournament infrastructure we are developing will be utilised by the current population, along with future generations. The opening of these parks follows initial consultations we held with local communities in an effort to develop the facilities they need.”
Al Janoub Stadium became the second tournament-ready venue for Qatar 2022 when it opened in May 2019. Al Bayt Stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000 and will host matches up to and including the semi-finals stage in 2022, will open later this year.
The former Al Ersal Station training sites cluster hosted Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal SFC during the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 and will host matches during this year’s Workers’ Cup.
افتتحت اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، ثلاث حدائق عامة بمناسبة اليوم الرياضي للدولة في كل من المنطقة المحيطة باستادي البيت والجنوب وموقع محطة الإرسال السابقة الواقعة في شارع الوحدة بمحاذاة معسكر التدريب بعنيزة.
وأكدت اللجنة أن افتتاح هذه الحدائق يؤكد التزام دولة قطر بالاستفادة من استضافة بطولة كأس العالم قطر 2022 في تشجيع أفراد المجتمع على انتهاج أنماط حياة صحية، الأمر الذي يُجسد الإرث الاجتماعي القيّم الذي تتطلع الدولة إلى تركه من استضافة هذا الحدث الكروي لأول مرة في الشرق الأوسط.
وتضم الحدائق الجديدة منطقة ألعاب للأطفال، وملاعب تنس وسلة، ومسارات للمشي وركوب الدراجات، ومساحات مفتوحة تضم أجهزة لممارسة التمارين الرياضية.
واستضافت الحديقة العامة في المنطقة المحيطة بإستاد البيت، بمناسبة اليوم الرياضي، أنشطة استقطبت العامة وموظفين من أسرة كرة القدم القطرية ومشاركة موظفي اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، والاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم، ومؤسسة دوري نجوم قطر، ومؤسسة أسباير زون.
كما جرى توجيه دعوة لأفراد المجتمع المحلي للاستمتاع بالمرافق الجديدة التي تضمها كل من حديقة استاد الجنوب، وحديقة محطة الإرسال سابقا الواقعة في شارع الوحدة.
وفي تصريح له بهذه المناسبة، عبر سعادة السيد حسن عبد الله الذوادي، الأمين العام للجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، عن سعادته بافتتاح ثلاث حدائق عامة تزامنا مع اليوم الرياضي للدولة.. مشيرا إلى أنها ستُسهم في دعم المجتمعات المحلية عبر توفير مساحات واسعة مفتوحة لممارسة العديد من الأنشطة الرياضية والترفيهية، ولفت إلى أن هذه الخطوة تجسّد جانبا من إرث مونديال قطر 2022 قبل أقل من ثلاثة أعوام على انطلاق منافسات البطولة.
بدوره، قال السيد هاني بلان، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة دوري نجوم قطر إن حديقة استاد البيت تعتبر أيقونة من أيقونات استادات مونديال قطر 2022، وأضاف أنه قد تم تنظيم العديد من الأنشطة والفعاليات الخاصة باليوم الرياضي، وتجهيز مناطق لفعاليات الأطفال، معبرا عن سعادته بتنظيم الفعالية في هذا المكان.
وأضاف:”كما هو معلوم اليوم الرياضي للدولة هو تفاعل شعبي للمواطنين والمقيمين على أرض قطر بترسيخ مفهوم الرياضة وتأثيرها في حياتنا بصورة ايجابية.. ويعتبر من المكاسب الهامة للدولة التي ستتذكرها الأجيال القادمة”.. مبينا أن أنشطة اليوم الرياضي بحديقة استاد البيت لم تقتصر على المنتسبين لعائلة كرة القدم بل شملت أيضا العائلات والعاملين في منطقة الخور وهي بالفعل تعتبر إرثا ليس فقط لأهل الخور بل لأهل قطر عامة.
