NMoQ to host collectors’ gathering
لقاء تعريفي لجامعي المقتنيات بمتحف قطر الوطني
The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) has invited all Qatar-based collectors to attend a gathering at 10am on February 20 in the museum’s auditorium.
The event, titled Al Barzah Forum, comes ahead of the third edition of the Mal Lawal exhibition set to take place later this year.
Collectors will be introduced to the exhibition’s new identity and will be invited to discuss ways of future collaboration with the museum, according to a press statement. The event is open to all collectors in Qatar regardless of their participation in the upcoming exhibition.
Mal Lawal, meaning “from the old days”, is an exhibition that showcases collections owned by private collectors from Qatar. Items presented in the exhibition can include manuscripts, weapons, Islamic collections, maps, coins, ethnographic and heritage items, jewellery, clothing, accessories and even cars.
Mal Lawal 3 is the “only event of its kind” in the region and acts as a platform that brings together private collectors, helping support and further establish the practice of collecting in Qatar.
The collections that will be showcased in 2020 will present the personal stories of the collectors and highlight their passion for art, culture and heritage.
Sara Saqr al-Mohannadi, associate curator, said: “The art of collecting is an important part of our country’s heritage. This event and the upcoming Mal Lawal exhibition aims to act as a platform where collectors in Qatar can get together to exchange expertise, thoughts and ideas on how to enhance private collecting practices in Qatar. We look forward to hosting them at our event.”
ينظم متحف قطر الوطني لقاء تعريفيّا لجامعي المقتنيات في دولة قطر، وذلك يوم الخميس 20 فبراير الساعة العاشرة صباحاً بقاعة المحاضرات بالمتحف.
ويأتي اللقاء -الذي يُعقَد تحت عنوان «ملتقى البرزة»- في إطار الاستعدادات الخاصة بالنسخة الثالثة من معرض «مال لوَّل» التي تُقام في وقت لاحق من هذا العام. ويهدف إلى تعريف جامعي المقتنيات بالهويَّة الجديدة للمعرض، ومناقشة سُبل التعاون المشترك بينهم وبين المتحف في المستقبل.
وتعني عبارة «مال لوَّل» باللهجة القطرية الدارجة «من الزمن الماضي»، وهو معرض لجامعي المقتنيات الخاصة من قطر، وتتنوع المقتنيات التي يضمها بين: المخطوطات، والأسلحة، والخرائط، والعملات، والطوابع البريدية، والقطع الإسلامية، والإثنوجرافية، والتراثية، والتحف، والمجوهرات، والملابس، والإكسسوارات، والسيارات.
ويُعد معرض «مال لوَّل» معرضاً فريداً من نوعه في المنطقة، حيث يوفر ملتقى لجامعي المقتنيات، ويسهم في تعزيز هواية جمع المقتنيات في قطر، وستروي المقتنيات التي سيضمها المعرض في نسخته الثالثة 2020 قصص أصحابها، وستعكس شغفهم بالفنون والثقافة والتراث.
و قالت سارة صقر المهندي أمين متحف مساعد بمتحف قطر الوطني: «تسهم ممارسة جمع المقتنيات في الحفاظ على التراث الثقافي، يهدف هذا التجمع (برزة) إلى توفير منصات لجامعي المقتنيات في قطر، لتبادل الخبرات والأفكار والرؤى حول كيفية تعزيز وتطوير عملية جمع المقتنيات في قطر، نتطلع لحضورهم في الملتقى، ومشاركتهم الفعالة».
