Karwa launches taxis for passengers with special needs

In a move that will help persons with special needs easily meet their transportation requirements, Mowasalat (Karwa) has launched a new fleet.

This is in addition to the existing number of Karwa taxis for passengers with special needs, according to a statement Sunday.

The new cars are equipped with all safety and security requirements and features that provide a convenient and comfortable service. The new taxis are launched in two types with different seating capacity that can accommodate from two to three wheelchairs along with seats for their escorts.

With the new fleet, the number of Karwa taxis for passengers with special needs has reached 20. These vehicles have ramps that can take up to 400kg weight. Built-in safety locks and non-slippery floors keep wheelchairs stable inside the vehicle. Electrically operated doors are among the other advanced features.

Mowsalat is also keen to ensure that public transport buses are wheelchair accessible in accordance with international standards to provide the highest levels of safety and comfort for specially-abled persons.

Karwa taxi for passengers with special needs can be ordered or booked through the toll-free number 8008294 or through the Karwa Taxi app.

Nasser Mamdouh al-Shammari, LTS director, said it’s important to support members of the community with special needs.

“Such measures are carried as part of our social responsibility initiatives. This will also ensure their social inclusion, by helping them to commute affordably with ease and comfort too,” he added.

دشّنت شركة مواصلات (كروة)، أعداداً جديدة من سيارات «تاكسي كروة»، التي تقدّم خدماتها للأشخاص من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، والمجهّزة بكل اشتراطات الأمن والسلامة والمعدّات الأساسية التي تجعل هذه الخدمة ميسّرة ومريحة.

كما جاء التدشين لنوعين من السيارات ذات السعة المختلفة تتراوح بين مقعدين إلى ثلاثة مقاعد متحركة، بالإضافة إلى مقاعد مخصصة للمرافقين لهم. وفي الوقت الحالي، يصل عدد هذه السيارات إلى 20 سيارة حرصت شركة مواصلات على تزويدها بجميع المميّزات التي تسهّل استخدامها، حيث جُهّزت بمصعد كهربائي للكراسي المتحركة يستطيع حمل ثقل بما يعادل 400 كيلوجرام، مجهّزة بأقفال أمان، وأرضيات مثبّتة تمنع انزلاق المقاعد المتحركة للحفاظ على ثباتها داخل المركبة، وأبواب كهربائية، بالإضافة إلى مميّزات أخرى حديثة للمركبة.

أيضاً حرصت «مواصلات» على توفير بعض وسائل النقل العام حسب متطلبات ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة ووفقاً للمعايير الدولية، لتوفير أعلى درجات الأمان والراحة؛ كونها خدمة بنّاءة وذات أهمية كبيرة لهذه الفئة من المجتمع.

وصرّح السيد ناصر الشمري مدير إدارة النقل الخفيف (التاكسي والليموزين) بشركة مواصلات: «نؤمن بأهمية دعم أفراد المجتمع من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة؛ جزءاً من مبادرات المسؤولية الاجتماعية، ولكوننا المشغّل الرئيسي لخدمة النقل العام والتاكسي. وضمن الخطط لتنويع الخدمات التي تقدّمها الشركة، تم زيادة عدد المركبات لتواكب زيادة الطلب، ولتحديث الأسطول لتأمين النقل الآمن والميسّر لهم، ولدفعهم إلى التفاعل مع البيئة ودمجهم في المجتمع».
