Doha South Sewage Infrastructure Project wins Global Best Project award
مشروع تطوير البنية التحتية للصرف الصحي في جنوب الدوحة يفوز بجائزة دولية كـ «أفضل مشروع»
The Public Works Authority’s Doha South Sewage Infrastructure Project has won the Engineering News Record (ENR)’s Global Best Project Award in the Wastewater Category, in recognition of its design innovation, outstanding health and safety performance, effective risk management, and implementation of construction best practices.
The award was received by Khalid Saif Al Khayareen, Drainage Networks Projects Department Manager, during the ENR’s annual Global Best Projects Awards Ceremony held on October 2, 2019 in New York, USA, in attendance of representative of global best winning projects. The ceremony was attended by representatives from M/s. Jacobs (previously CH2M), the Project Management Consultant, and the Joint Venture “Bouygues Travaux Publics” and “UCC”, the project contractor.
On this occasion, Al Khayareen said: “This award reflects the efforts of all team members to complete this important and unique project, which is part of Qatar’s ambitious plan to provide a sustainable infrastructure of the highest international standards to serve the citizens and residents.”
ENR is an international organisation that is specialised in evaluating engineering projects worldwide, both in the design and construction stages, as well as classifying consulting firms and contractors, through international judges from various countries including the United States, Europe and Asia.
The Doha South Sewage Infrastructure Project is one of the key projects implemented by Ashghal as part of its master plan to upgrade Qatar’s drainage network. The project is designed to serve areas in the south of Doha and the expected population growth. It can be linked to future infrastructure projects, and when completed, it will enable the decommissioning of more than twenty old pumping stations currently located in the residential and commercial areas in the south of Doha.
A key component of the project is the gravity based 16-km long Main Trunk Sewer that will link a number of areas in the south of Doha to the sewage network. This will reduce the environmental impacts through the full control of odours in sewage treatment works and conveying system, and reduce other environmental problems arising from sewage overflow.
فاز مشروع تطوير البنية التحتية للصرف الصحي في جنوب الدوحة، الذي تنفذه هيئة الأشغال العامة «أشغال»، بجائزة أفضل مشروع عن فئة مشاريع الصرف الصحي من مؤسسة «ENR» «إنجنيرنج نيوز ريكورد Engineering News-Record»، تكريماً للأداء المتميز للمشروع في مجال الصحة والسلامة، والإدارة الفعالة للمخاطر، والابتكار في التصميم، وكذلك تنفيذ أفضل ممارسات البناء.
تسلم الجائزة المهندس خالد سيف الخيارين مدير إدارة مشاريع شبكات الصرف الصحي في هيئة الأشغال العامة، خلال حفل مؤسسة «ENR» السنوي لتوزيع جوائز أفضل المشاريع العالمية، والذي أقيم في 2 أكتوبر 2019 في نيويورك بالولايات المتحدة الأميركية، بحضور ممثلي مجموعة من أكبر وأهم المشاريع العالمية، كما حضر الحفل ممثلو شركة جاكوبس «CH2M سابقاً» الاستشارية التي أشرفت على تنفيذ المشروع، وائتلاف شركتي «بويغوس Bouygues» و»يو سي سي UCC» مقاول المشروع.
وبهذه المناسبة، صرّح المهندس خالد الخيارين، بأن الجائزة تعكس مدى الجهود المبذولة من جميع أعضاء فريق العمل لإكمال هذا المشروع المهم والفريد، والذي يُعدّ جزءاً من خطة قطر الطموحة لتوفير بنية تحتية مستدامة، وفق أعلى المعايير العالمية لخدمة المواطنين والمقيمين. يذكر أن «إنجنيرنج نيوز ريكورد» هي مؤسسة عالمية مختصة بتقييم المشاريع الهندسية على مستوى العالم، سواء في مراحل التصميم أو التنفيذ، وكذلك تصنيف وتحديد مستويات الشركات الاستشارية والمقاولين، وذلك من خلال حكّام دوليين من مختلف الدول بما في ذلك الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا وآسيا.
هذا، ويُعد مشروع تطوير البنية التحتية للصرف الصحي في جنوب الدوحة أحد أهم المشاريع التي تنفذها «أشغال»، ضمن خطتها لتطوير شبكات الصرف الصحي في جميع أنحاء الدولة، تم تصميم المشروع ليخدم منطقة جنوب الدوحة والنمو السكاني المتوقع لها في المستقبل، كما يمكن ربطه بمشاريع بنية تحتية مستقبلية، وسيتم عند اكتمال المشروع الاستغناء عن أكثر من عشرين محطة ضخ قديمة موجودة حالياً في المناطق السكنية والتجارية في جنوب الدوحة.
