Qitcom 2019 seeks startup exhibitors

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has called for applications to exhibit at the Startup Hub zone during the fifth edition of the Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (Qitcom 2019), providing entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their business and attract partners and investors during the event on October 29.

As part of the Qitcom Entrepreneurship Zone, the Startup Hub is an “inspiring opportunity for mature and successful entrepreneurs to present their creative ideas at Qatar’s largest digital event, Qitcom 2019”, according to a press statement by the MoTC.

This year’s vision is to have a selection of 100 local and international startups, who will receive exclusive access to potential investors and large enterprises in Qatar.

Participants will comprise a “perfect mix” of innovators, startups, future unicorns and entrepreneurs, who will have free access to showcase their innovations at Qitcom 2019.

Shortlisted participants will be eligible for speaking opportunities and awards.

Applications for startups will be accepted till October 15.

Selected startups will be able to showcase their products and solutions in the Startup Hub booths, building visibility and reach to local and regional market participants.

The Startup Hub programme fosters entrepreneurs, investors and innovators to reach their full potential by exchanging knowledge, expanding their business ideas and networking with other entrepreneurs and investors, the statement notes.

With this year’s theme ‘Safe Smart Cities’, Qitcom 2019 seeks to attract more than 300 entrepreneurs to take part in the activities at the Entrepreneurship Zone that includes the Startup Hub, CodeCamp, IdeaCamp, Make the Deal and Innovation Theatre.

The Entrepreneurship Zone is a platform designed to bring together diverse digital sectors to exchange ideas and knowledge.

It is an exclusive opportunity for startups, entrepreneurs and innovators to connect with relevant investors, businesses and enterprises, to develop digital solutions for the advancement of Qatar’s digital economy.

Reem al-Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Society Development Sector at the MoTC, said: “After four successful editions, the fifth edition of Qitcom is even more exciting as we expect to bring together diverse entrepreneurs across various technology sectors.

CEOs, CIOs, decision makers, technology specialists, researchers, innovators and visionaries will come together to collaborate on developing digital solutions for Qatar’s smart future.

All of this is possible with the help of the Entrepreneurship Zone that is dedicated to facilitating entrepreneurs in exhibiting their ideas at the Startup Hub.

“We are honoured to create more opportunities for innovative startups and witness some of the most technologically advanced showcases.

In the past, Qitcom 2017 had incubated 25 startups through the Digital Incubation Centre and, this year, we hope to incubate even more startups at the Entrepreneurship Zone.”

أعلنت وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات عن فتح باب التسجيل للمشاركة في منطقة الشركات الناشئة (Startup Hub zone)، التي تُعدّ إحدى الفعاليات الرئيسية المقامة في منطقة ريادة الأعمال، ضمن النسخة الخامسة من مؤتمر ومعرض قطر لتكنولوجيا المعلومات (كيتكوم 2019)، المقرر إقامته في الفترة من 29 أكتوبر إلى 1 نوفمبر المقبل في مركز قطر الوطني للمؤتمرات.

ومن المقرر غلق باب التسجيل الذي يكون عبر الموقع الإلكتروني الرسمي لـ «كيتكوم»، في الخامس عشر من أكتوبر 2019.

يقدّم محور الشركات الناشئة فرصة رائعة لروّاد الأعمال والشركات الناشئة لعرض أفكارهم الإبداعية، والوصول إلى الشركاء والمستثمرين المحتلمين في أكبر فعالية رقمية في قطر، وهو مؤتمر ومعرض قطر لتكنولوجيا المعلومات (كيتكوم 2019).

وتقوم رؤية المؤتمر لهذا العام على اختيار 100 شركة ناشئة محلية ودولية تُتاح لها فرصة الوصول إلى مستثمرين ومؤسسات كبرى في قطر. ويضم المشاركون توليفة مثالية من المبتكرين والشركات الناشئة وشركات الـ «يونيكورن» (وهي التي يُتوقّع أن تبلغ قيمتها مستقبلاً مليار دولار)، وروّاد أعمال تُتاح لهم فرصة عرض ابتكاراتهم في جناح مؤتمر ومعرض قطر لتكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات. وسوف تُتاح أيضاً للمشاركين المتميّزين والمؤهلين فرصة التحدث خلال المؤتمر والفوز بالجوائز.

وسيكون بوسع الشركات المشاركة التي يقع عليها الاختيار، عرض منتجاتها وحلولها عبر أجنحة خاصة بالشركات الناشئة.

وتهدف منطقة الشركات الناشئة إلى دعم روّاد الأعمال والمبتكرين، ومساعدتهم في إطلاق قدراتهم الكامنة بشكل كامل، عبر تبادل المعرفة، وتوضيح أفكار أعمالهم، وتعزيز التواصل مع روّاد الأعمال والمستثمرين الآخرين.

بهذه المناسبة، قالت سعادة السيدة ريم المنصوري وكيل الوزارة المساعد لشؤون تنمية المجتمع الرقمي بوزارة المواصلات والاتصالات: «بعد 4 نسخ من النجاح، أصبحت النسخة الخامسة من مؤتمر «كيتكوم» أكثر حيوية، حيث يُتوقع أن نجمع المئات من رواد الأعمال الذين ينتمون إلى قطاعات رقمية متنوعة. إن نسخة هذا العام سوف تستقطب مديرين تنفيذيين وعديداً من صنّاع القرار والمهتمين بالتكنولوجيا والباحثين والمبتكرين؛ للتعاون في ما بينهم من أجل تطوير حلول تكنولوجية يتطلبها مستقبل قطر الذكي. لقد أصبح كل ذلك ممكناً بفضل منطقة ريادة الأعمال التي تختص بتسهيل مشاركة روّاد الأعمال ومنحهم الفرصة لعرض أفكارهم في منطقة الشركات الناشئة».
