Dimdex 2020 expected to attract record number of exhibitors

Set to be bigger and more diverse than ever before, the seventh edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (Dimdex 2020) will take place from March 16 to 18, 2020. With less than one year to go until key decision makers from the maritime defence and security industry meet in Qatar once again, Dimdex organisers say that demand for exhibition space is high and have already received requests for bookings for the upcoming edition.

The event held under the patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and proudly hosted and organised by Qatar Armed Forces, Dimdex has grown each year since its launch in 2008 and is now internationally recognised as a platform for businesses from the global defence industry to showcase their latest technologies to government entities and industry peers to form new partnerships.

Focused on ‘Connecting the World’s Maritime Defence and Security Community’, Dimdex 2020 will bring together the latest innovations and solutions under one roof. Participants will have access to an established delegation management system that offers a business matching service between the official VIP delegations and Dimdex exhibitors.

Strongly supported by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, and the attendance of other Qatari military officials and government representatives, Dimdex 2020 will continue to offer unprecedented opportunities to its participants.

Thought leaders from around the globe will be sharing their expertise at the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC) and several international navies will display their warships at Hamad Port.

Dimdex has a proven track record of delivering commercial opportunities for members of the maritime defence and security community.

With less than one year to go until DIMDEX 2020, a new report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) shows that Qatar is ranked one of the top importers of major arms in the region. In addition, global defence spending — which reached a record of $1.78 trillion in 2018 – is expected to grow by 2% per year from 2019 to 2023 according to Jane’s Defence Budget.

DIMDEX 2020 is expected to attract record numbers of exhibitors than in previous years. Organisers say that a diverse range of prime suppliers and manufacturers are requesting to book space, among which are new exhibitors in growing areas of the defence industry like cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, adding to the range of products and technologies that will be showcased.

قد شهد معرض ومؤتمر ديمدكس نمواً ملحوظاً منذ انطلاقة أولى نسخه عام 2008، ليحتل اليوم مكانة بارزة عالمياً كمنصة حيوية تعرض من خلالها الشركات في قطاع الدفاع العالمي أحدث تقنياتها أمام الهيئات الحكومية ونظرائها في القطاع لتأسيس شراكات جديدة. وتحت شعار «الحدث الدولي الأبرز لتواصل مختصي الأمن والدفاع البحري»، سوف يجمع معرض ومؤتمر ديمدكس 2020 أحدث الابتكارات والحلول في القطاع تحت سقف واحد، وسوف يُمنح المشاركون ميزة الاستفادة من نظام إدارة الوفود المتطور الذي يتيح لهم تنظيم فرصة تنظيم لقاءات مع الوفود الرسمية والجهات العارضة في «ديمدكس».

كما يشارك مختصون من مختلف أنحاء العالم خبراتهم في مؤتمر قادة البحريات في الشرق الأوسط، فيما ستقوم عدة قوات بحرية دولية بعرض سفنها الحربية في ميناء حمد.

وبدعم كبير من سعادة الدكتور خالد بن محمد العطية، نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الدولة لشؤون الدفاع، وحضور مسؤولين عسكريين وحكوميين، سوف يواصل المعرض والمؤتمر توفير فرص غير مسبوقة للمشاركين فيه، لا سيما أن الحدث يتمتع بسجل حافل فيما يقدمه لمختصي الأمن والدفاع البحري. وفي نسخته الأخيرة التي أقيمت في عام 2018، استقطب المعرض 13 ألف زائر من 69 دولة، وشهد توقيع أكثر من 35 اتفاقية، وشراكة، ومذكرة تفاهم.

وقد أظهر تقرير صادرعن معهد ستوكهولم الدولي لبحوث السلام أن دولة قطر تحتل إحدى المراتب الأولى لمستوردي الأسلحة في المنطقة، وفي الوقت نفسه يتوقع أن يشهد الإنفاق العالمي في قطاع الدفاع، الذي سجل ارتفاعاً قياسياً بلغ 1.78 تريليون دولار في عام 2018، نمواً بنسبة 2% سنوياً في الأعوام ما بين 2019 وحتى 2023، وذلك بحسب تقرير Jane’s Defence Budget.

ومن المتوقع أن يجذب معرض ومؤتمر «ديمدكس 2020» عدداً قياسياً من العارضين مقارنة بالسنوات السابقة.

وأشار القائمون على تنظيم هذا الحدث إلى إقبال مجموعة واسعة من الشركات والمصنعين الرئيسيين على طلب حجز المساحات، من بينهم عارضون جدد مختصون بمجالات نامية في قطاع الدفاع، مثل الأمن السيبراني، والذكاء الاصطناعي، الأمر الذي من شأنه أن يوسّع نطاق المنتجات والتقنيات التي سيتم عرضها.

وقال العميد الركن (بحري) عبد الباقي صالح الأنصاري، رئيس اللجنة الدائمة لمعرض ومؤتمر الدوحة الدولي للدفاع البحري: «من المرتقب أن تكون النسخة السابعة من معرض ومؤتمر ديمدكس الأكثر تميزاً حتى الآن، إذ إننا نشهد مستويات اهتمام مرتفعة من قبل مجموعة أوسع من الجهات المعنية بالقطاع».

وأضاف: «لا شك في أن هذا الحدث سوف يقدم فرصة لصناع القرار لمعرفة أحدث التوجهات والتقنيات في الوقت الذي تواصل فيه الدول الاستثمار بقواتها العسكرية للحفاظ على الأمن والاستقرار.

وتوقع رؤية تطورات جديدة عديدة في مجال الأمن السيبراني الذي يعتبر تكنولوجيا ناشئة في مجال الدفاع، وجزءاً لا يتجزأ من النظم الدفاعية.

وأضاف: «مع نموه عاماً بعد عام منذ انطلاق نسخته الأولى، أصبح معرض ومؤتمر ديمدكس فعالية أساسية ثابتة على أجندة الدفاع والأمن البحري الدولية، وإنني أتطلع قُدُماً للترحيب بالوفود في الدوحة العام المقبل، إلى جانب لقاء العارضين في النسخة السابقة».

وأعرب عن أمله في الالتقاء بمشاركين جدد من جميع أرجاء العالم، لا سيما أن «ديمدكس» يواصل التوسع نحو آفاق جديدة.

كما سيوفر منصة للشركات للتواصل مع جهات رفيعة في قطاع الدفاع من دولة قطر ومختلف أنحاء العالم.
