DFI opens submissions for 2019 Ajyal Jury programme

In the lead up to the 2019 edition of the Ajyal Film Festival, the Doha Film Institute (DFI) is accepting juror applications from youths from Qatar and the region, who want to explore the exciting world of cinema and assume a leading voice in the Ajyal Competition awards.

Now in its seventh edition, Ajyal Film Festival 2019 will take place from November 18 to 23 at Katara Cultural Village, with the Ajyal Jury Competition programme running from November 17 to 23. DFI’s annual signature event is an immersive celebration of community and the permeating power of film for audiences of all ages, and the internationally acclaimed jury programme brings over 550 jurors from more than 50 countries to Qatar for an invaluable exchange of culture.

In a fun and collaborative environment, Ajyal Jury in three age-groups from 8 to 21 evaluate the films showcased at the festival and discover cinema not just from the perspective of entertainment but as a medium that can bring about positive social change.

Starting from this year, DFI is introducing a registration fee of QR50, in addition to a QR450 administration fee at the time of final juror selection, as part of its continued efforts to grow and enhance the programme. Categorized in three competition segments – Mohaq (ages 8-12), Hilal (ages 13-17) and Bader (ages 18-21), the Ajyal Jurors watch a diverse programme of feature films and short films from across the globe that help raise awareness of global issues, cultures and values. Being an Ajyal Juror is a highly creative learning experience that instils an appreciation of cinema as well as the values of teamwork, critical thinking and leadership.
Last year more than 550 jurors of 54 nationalities served as Ajyal Jurors, who had access to specially curated workshops, daily film screenings, jury discussions, opportunities to interact with global filmmakers and a range of events and activities that inspire creative interaction and stimulate cinematic dialogue.

The Festival also presents daily public screenings, special presentations, Cinema Under the Stars, in-depth discussions through the Ajyal Talks series, among others.

أعلنت مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام عن فتح باب تقديم الطلبات للمشاركة في لجان التحكيم الخاصة بمهرجان أجيال السينمائي السابع، للشباب من قطر والخارج ممن يرغبون في استكشاف عالم السينما المثير والتصويت لاختيار الأعمال الفائزة بجوائز مسابقة المهرجان.

ويقام مهرجان أجيال السينمائي في دورته السابعة، خلال الفترة من 18 إلى 23 نوفمبر المقبل في المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي “كتارا”.

وتعد الفعالية السنوية التي تنظمها مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام حدثاً بارزا يحتفي بالمجتمع وبقدرة الأفلام على الوصول إلى الجماهير من جميع الأعمار.

وتقوم لجنة حكام أجيال التي تنقسم إلى ثلاث لجان بحسب الفئات العمرية من 8 إلى 21 عامًا، بتقييم الأفلام المعروضة في المهرجان واكتشاف أهمية السينما باعتبارها وسيلة للترفيه ولتحقيق التغيير الإيجابي المنشود في المجتمع.

وأشارت مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام في بيان اليوم، إلى أن آخر موعد للتسجيل هو 30 أكتوبر المقبل.

وأبرزت السيدة فاطمة حسن الرميحي، الرئيسة التنفيذية لمؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام في تصريح لها، أن برنامج لجان تحكيم مهرجان أجيال، هو مبادرة تضع المسؤولية على الشباب لفهم القوة الكامنة لدى كل إنسان لإحداث تغيير إيجابي، منوهة إلى أن المهرجان، يهدف إلى تمكين الشباب من التعبير عن أفكارهم وآرائهم القيمة وتعزيز وعيهم بالعالم من حولهم، إلى جانب تشجيعهم على تولي أدوار فعّالة في مجتمعاتهم، معتبرة إياهم جزءًا لا يتجزأ من هذه الرحلة الملهمة.

وأضافت الرميحي:” أدركنا أن النجاح المتكرر الذي شهده مهرجان أجيال يحتم علينا في عام 2019، أن نخطط لزيادة إمكانات برنامج لجان التحكيم، مما يسمح للمزيد من الحكام بالمشاركة في هذه التجربة الفريدة، حيث قدم مهرجان أجيال على مر السنين الفرصة للشباب لاستكشاف آفاق جديدة من الفهم الإبداعي والثقافي.

يشار إلى أن لجان التحكيم في أجيال تقسّم إلى ثلاثة أقسام: محاق ويضم الحكام الصغار من عمر 8 إلى 12 عاماً، وهلال ويضم حكاما من عمر 13 إلى 17 عاماً، و بدر الذي تتراوح أعمار حكامه من 18 إلى 21 عاماً. ويقوم الأعضاء بمشاهدة برنامج متنوع من الأفلام الطويلة والقصيرة من جميع أنحاء العالم والتي تساهم في رفع نسبة الوعي بالقضايا والثقافات والقيم العالمية.

وكان قد شهد العام الماضي مشاركة أزيد من 550 حكما من 54 بلدا تمكنوا من الوصول إلى ورش العمل المتخصصة والعروض السينمائية اليومية ومناقشات هيئات المحلفين وفرص التفاعل مع المخرجين العالميين، ومجموعة من الفعاليات والأنشطة التي تلهم التفاعل الإبداعي وتحفز الحوار السينمائي.
