UDC signs contracts for 3 projects worth QR1.2bn at The Pearl-Qatar

United Development Company (UDC) has signed three agreements for major projects worth around QR1.2bn at The Pearl-Qatar.

The first agreement has been signed with Orbital Education, a leading British educational group, to operate United School International in the Giardino Village Precinct at The Pearl-Qatar, while the second agreement has been inked to award Al Darwish Engineering Company the contract for the construction works of United School International.

The third agreement has been signed to award Ramaco Trading & Contracting Company the contract to undertake the design and construction works of three gated compounds in the Floresta Gardens Precinct.

Ibrahim Jassim al-Othman, UDC president and CEO and member of the Board, highlighted that the total investment value in these projects amounted to approximately QR1.2bn.

The agreement to operate United School International was co-signed by al-Othman and Orbital Education chairman Kevin McNeany during a ceremony held at the Oyster Building, The Pearl-Qatar, in the presence of British ambassador Ajay Sharma.

United School International will be the second school in Qatar to be managed by Orbital Education, currently the owner and operator of a growing group of international schools in countries across the globe, including Hungary, Slovenia, Spain, Russia, China and

Ecuador.

These schools cater to students between the ages of two and 18 and specialise in delivering the British curriculum to meet the needs of an internationally diverse student population, UDC has said in a statement.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in the UK, Orbital Education is the recipient of several international awards, including the 2019 Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Ambassador Sharma said, “I am delighted to congratulate UDC and Orbital Education on this great education collaboration. I am pleased that the British embassy and the Department of International Trade in Qatar have supported the school to achieve this excellent outcome. Qatar National Vision 2030 concentrates on building a world-class education system and this is what we are committed to deliver.

“This is a sector, which I firmly believe offers the UK and Qatar many exciting opportunities. Education co-operation will strengthen the important relationship between our two countries for generations to come.”

Al-Othman noted, “The designation of Orbital Education as the operator of United School International reflects UDC’s commitment to offering the very best educational services and internationally recognised certificates. Through our offerings to serve the educational needs of The Pearl-Qatar’s community and neighbourhoods, we aim to cement the Island’s position as an attractive destination for families and business professionals alike.”

McNeany added, “Orbital Education is proud to partner with UDC in the foundation of this world-class school and to expand its successful presence in the State of Qatar with the addition of this stunning new school to its global portfolio.”

Meanwhile, al-Othman and Dr Fahd Bakour, executive director of Al Darwish Engineering Company, co-signed the agreement for the construction works of United School International during a ceremony held at the Oyster Building.

Al-Othman said, “Awarding Al Darwish Engineering Company the construction works of United School International falls in line with UDC’s commitment to meeting the various educational needs of The Pearl-Qatar, as well as neighbourhoods.”

Bakour added, “We are proud to implement this significant educational project and hope that the co-operation will continue between us in the interest of our beloved country, Qatar.”

Al Darwish Engineering Company has, since its establishment in 1950, been a leading contracting company and a key contributor to the construction sector.

Al-Othman and Fahad Yaqoub al-Jaidah, chairman of Ramaco Trading & Contracting Company, co-signed the agreement for the design and construction works of three gated compounds in the Floresta Gardens Precinct. The agreement was during a ceremony at the Oyster Building.

Ramaco Trading & Contracting Company, which was established in 2001, is operating as a ‘Grade A’ construction company in Qatar and specialises in the design, engineering, construction and property management sectors.

Al-Othman said, “Awarding Ramaco Trading & Contracting Company the contract for the design and construction works of three gated compounds in Floresta Gardens Precinct falls in line with UDC’s ongoing plans to expand its real estate offerings across The Pearl-Qatar.”

Al Jaidah added: “We will invest our long experience in the design, engineering and construction fields to finalise this prestigious project according to the contract requirements, and will strive to fulfil UDC’s expectations pertaining to this project.”

UDC is a leading Qatari public shareholding company and master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan islands.

أعلنت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية (المطوّر الرئيسي لجزيرتي اللؤلؤة-قطر وجيوان)، عن توقيع 3 اتفاقيات في مشاريع رئيسية بجزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر. تم توقيع الاتفاقية الأولى مع «أوروبيتال التعليمية» -وهي مجموعة تعليمية بريطانية رائدة- لتشغيل «مدرسة المتحدة الدولية»، في حين تم توقيع الاتفاقية الثانية لمنح شركة «هندسة الدرويش» عقد إنجاز الأعمال الإنشائية للمدرسة نفسها، بينما تضمّنت الاتفاقية الثالثة منح شركة «راماكو للتجارة والمقاولات» عقد تصميم وبناء 3 مجمّعات سكنية ضمن منطقة «فلورستا جاردنز» في جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر.

في هذا السياق، أشار السيد إبراهيم جاسم العثمان -الرئيس التنفيذي وعضو مجلس إدارة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية- إلى أن إجمالي حجم الاستثمار في هذه المشاريع يبلغ ما يعادل 1.2 مليار ريال.

تشغيل «المتحدة الدولية»

قام السيد العثمان، والسيد كيفن ماكنيني رئيس مجلس إدارة «أوروبيتال التعليمية»، وبحضور سعادة السيد أجاي شارما السفير البريطاني لدى دولة قطر، بالتوقيع على الاتفاقية خلال حفل أُقيم للمناسبة في مبنى المحارة بجزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر، وبحضور ممثلين من جميع الأطراف.

ستكون مدرسة المتحدة الدولية هي المدرسة الثانية التي تديرها «أوروبيتال التعليمية» في دولة قطر، التي تمتلك وتدير حالياً مجموعة متنامية من المدارس في جميع أنحاء العالم، كما في دول المجر وسلوفينيا وإسبانيا وروسيا والصين والإكوادور.

وتلبّي هذه المدارس احتياجات الطلاب الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين عامين و18 عاماً، وتتخصص في اتباع المنهج التعليمي البريطاني؛ لتلبية متطلبات هؤلاء الطلاب الذين يتوزعون حول العالم.

هذا، وتأسست «أوروبيتال التعليمية» في العام 2005، ويقع مقرها الرئيسي في المملكة المتحدة، وقد حصدت العديد من الجوائز الدولية، بما في ذلك جائزة الملكة للمؤسسات لعام 2019، حيث كانت «أوروبيتال التعليمية» واحدة من مجموعة مختارة من المؤسسات التعليمية المختارة لنيل جائزة الملكة المرموقة للمؤسسات، وقد تم تقديرها لتفوّقها وابتكارها في مجال التعليم الدولي.

وتعليقاً على توقيع الاتفاقية مع «أوروبيتال التعليمية»، قال سعادة السيد أجاي شارما، السفير البريطاني لدى دولة قطر: «يسرّني أن أهنّئ الشركة المتحدة للتنمية و(أوروبيتال التعليمية) على هذا التعاون المهم في مجال التعليم. ويسعدني قيام فريق السفارة البريطانية وفريق وزارة التجارة الدولية البريطانية في قطر بدعم المدرسة لتحقيق هذا الإنجاز الرائع. تركز رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 على بناء نظام تعليمي ذي مستوى عالمي، وهذا ما نسعى نحن أيضاً إليه وملتزمون بتقديمه. إنني أؤمن إيماناً راسخاً بقدرة هذا القطاع على توفير العديد من الفرص المهمة للمملكة المتحدة ودولة قطر، ومما لا شك فيه أيضاً أن التعاون في مجال التعليم من شأنه فعلاً تعزيز العلاقات المميّزة القائمة بين البلدين وتوطيدها لما فيه مصلحة الأجيال المقبلة».

التزام

من جهته، علّق السيد العثمان بالقول: «إن اختيار (أوروبيتال التعليمية) لتشغيل مدرسة المتحدة الدولية، يعكس التزام الشركة المتحدة للتنمية بتقديم أفضل الخدمات التعليمية وتوفير شهادات معترف بها دولياً. ومن خلال تقديماتنا التي تخدم الاحتياجات التعليمية لمجتمع جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر والجوار، فإنما نهدف إلى تعزيز موقع الجزيرة بوصفها وجهة جاذبة للعائلات وأصحاب العمل على حد سواء».

أما السيد كيفن ماكنيني -رئيس مجلس إدارة «أوروبيتال التعليمية»- فأكد على أهمية هذه الشراكة بالقول: «تفتخر (أوروبيتال التعليمية) بالشراكة مع الشركة المتحدة للتنمية في تأسيس هذه المدرسة ذات المستوى العالمي وبتوسيع وجودها الناجح في دولة قطر، بإضافة مدرسة جديدة إلى مجموعة المدارس التي تديرها حول العالم».

الأعمال الإنشائية

قام السيد العثمان، والدكتور فهد بكور المدير التنفيذي لشركة «هندسة الدرويش»، بالتوقيع على الاتفاقية خلال حفل أُقيم للمناسبة في مبنى المحارة بجزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر، وبحضور ممثلين من جميع الأطراف.

وفي هذا الصدد، صرّح السيد العثمان: «إن منح شركة (هندسة الدرويش) الأعمال الإنشائية الخاصة بمدرسة المتحدة الدولية، إنما يتماشى مع التزام الشركة المتحدة للتنمية الراسخ بتلبية الاحتياجات التعليمية لمجتمع جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر والجوار. كما أن تطوير مدرسة المتحدة الدولية يعكس الرؤية الاستراتيجية السليمة التي تعتمدها الشركة المتحدة للتنمية وخطط التطوير المستقبلية لديها؛ ما من شأنه تعزيز جاذبية جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر لتقديم نمط حياة مميّز يلبي الاحتياجات كافة».

أما الدكتور بكور، فقال: «بالنيابة عن شركة (هندسة الدرويش)، نود أن نشكر الشركة المتحدة للتنمية على اختيارها لنا بوصفنا شركة رائدة في مجال المقاولات الوطنية لتنفيذ أعمال البناء الخاصة بمدرسة المتحدة الدولية في جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر. ونحن فخورون بتنفيذ هذا المشروع التعليمي المهم، ونأمل أن يستمر التعاون بيننا لصالح بلدنا الحبيب قطر».
