Silatech, UN rights body team up to empower youth
شراكة بين “صلتك” والمفوضية السامية لحقوق الإنسان لتمكين الشباب
Silatech CEO Sabah al-Haidoos met with the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet in Geneva, Switzerland, recently and agreed to co-operate in a partnership to develop initiatives and programmes for global youth empowerment in alignment with international human rights treaties and agreements.
In a press statement yesterday, Silatech said “this partnership is a milestone and the outcome of the strategic meeting that took place between Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Founder and Chairperson of Silatech’s Board of Trustees, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the margins of Silatech’s High-Level Forum in Geneva on March 4”.
The partnership between Silatech and UN High Commission for Human Rights will promote the rights of young people and focus on their right to decent work and a decent life in alignment with international human rights treaties and agreements, the statement explains.
The proposed areas of partnership between the two sides are mainly youth empowerment programmes and initiatives to advocate for global youth issues.
Commenting on this partnership, Silatech CEO al-Haidoos said: “We are very pleased to have this strategic and valuable partnership with the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights, represented by the High Commissioner, Michelle Bachelet. In this partnership, we have agreed to take immediate action to make sure that its deliverables are executed promptly and on a timely basis.
“Firstly, we have introduced an integrated framework and project for the partnership that illustrates the theme, ‘Youth empowerment in the light of global human rights system’. This framework will highlight the relationship between youth and human rights and promote advocacy programmes and initiatives on broader issues affecting young people.”
“Silatech has suggested we have a joint initiative to promote youth rights in areas of armed conflict and in fragile states. It will help protect those who suffer from discrimination and grave human rights violations. The initiative aims at reforming national laws, strategies and plans that are related to youth,” added al-Haidoos.
Silatech has recently been actively involved in establishing strategic partnerships as part of its ongoing pursuit to economically and socially empower youth, and to achieve some of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as several of the UN’s Youth Strategy 2030 priorities, the statement adds.
Such partnerships include but are not limited to organisations such as the World Health Organisation, International Labour Organisation, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, among others.
اتفقت الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة صلتك، الأستاذة صباح الهيدوس والمفوضة السامية للأمم المتحدة لحقوق الانسان، سعادة السيدة ميشيل باشليه، على التعاون في شراكة تهدف الى تطوير وتنفيذ مبادرات وبرامج لتمكين الشباب بما يتوافق مع معاهدات واتفاقيات حقوق الإنسان العالمية.
تأتي هذه الشراكة كنتيجة عملية وعلامة فارقة في أعقاب الاجتماع الاستراتيجي بين صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر (حفظها الله)، مؤسس ورئيس مجلس أمناء صلتك، والمفوضة السامية لحقوق الإنسان على هامش منتدى صلتك الرفيع المستوى في جنيف في 4 مارس 2019.
ستعمل الشراكة بين صلتك والمفوضية السامية لحقوق الإنسان على تعزيز مبدأ حقوق الشباب في العمل اللائق والحياة الكريمة في ضوء المعاهدات والاتفاقيات الدولية لحقوق الإنسان.
مجالات الشراكة المقترحة بين صلتك والمفوضية السامية لحقوق الإنسان هي؛ برامج تمكين الشباب، بالإضافة إلى برامج ومبادرات لمناصرة قضايا الشباب العالمية.
وتعليقًا على هذه الشراكة، صرحت الأستاذة صباح الهيدوس، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة صلتك؛ “نحن سعداء جدا” بهذه الشراكة الاستراتيجية والقيمة مع مفوضية الأمم المتحدة السامية لحقوق الإنسان ممثلة في سعادة المفوضة السامية، السيدة ميشيل باشليه. اتفقنا تحت اطار هذه الشراكة على اتخاذ إجراءات فورية للتأكد من أن متطلباتها وخطواتها يتم تنفيذها على الفور وفي الوقت المحدد لها. فقد قدمنا أولاً إطار عمل ومشروع متكاملين للشراكة بين الجانبين تحت شعار ” تمكين الشباب من منظور ومرجعيات منظومة حقوق الانسان العالمية “، وسيغطي هذا الإطار موضوعات الشباب وحقوق الانسان. أما في اطار برامج و مبادرات المناصرة لقضايا الشباب فقد اقترحنا مبادرة مشتركة لتعزير حقوق الشباب في مناطق النزاعات أو الدول الهشة، والذين يعانون من تمييز وانتهاكات حقوقية مضاعفة. وتعمل المبادرة على اصلاح القوانين والاستراتيجيات والخطط الوطنية المتعلقة بالشباب”.
الجدير بالذكر أن صلتك قد انخرطت مؤخرا” بعقد شراكات استراتيجية كجزء من سعيها المستمر إلى تمكين الشباب اقتصاديًا واجتماعيًا، ولتحقيق بعض أهداف الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة، فضلاً عن عدد من أولويات استراتيجية الشباب للأمم المتحدة 2030. وتشمل هذه الشراكات، على سبيل المثال لا الحصر، منظمات مثل منظمة الصحة العالمية ومنظمة العمل الدولية ومنظمة التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية ومعهد الأمم المتحدة للتدريب والأبحاث من بين منظمات أخرى.
