Qatargas delivers first Q-Max LNG cargo to Belgium

Doha: Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) delivered the first cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) on a Q-Max vessel to Zeebrugge LNG Terminal in Belgium, marking the first discharge of a Q-Max LNG vessel at this terminal. The cargo, which was loaded at the Ras Laffan terminal in Qatar on June 22, 2019, arrived on board the Q-Max vessel, ‘Al Dafna’ on July 22, 2019.

The delivery also celebrates yet another multi-terminal delivery for Qatargas bringing the total number of multi-port deliveries undertaken by the Company in 2019 to eight deliveries. This operation saw the first LNG parcel discharged in Zeebrugge and a second parcel at the South Hook LNG terminal in the United Kingdom.

Pascal De Buck, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of gas infrastructure group Fluxys, owner and operator of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal, said: “We are particularly pleased at Fluxys with this new milestone in our long-standing cooperation with Qatargas at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal. The Q-Max delivery demonstrates the versatility we offer our customers, with LNG carriers of all types and sizes able to dock at the facility, ample pipe gas take away capacity for delivery throughout Northwestern Europe and a range of options for downstream small-scale LNG distribution.”

The established practice in the LNG industry is to deliver a single cargo of LNG to a single location. Qatargas’ pioneering achievement was made possible by using the largest class of LNG vessel in the world, a Q-Max vessel, which has a cargo carrying capacity of 266,000 cubic metres. Its large capacity allows Q-Max to deliver two full conventional size cargoes to multiple destinations and customers in one voyage.

قامت شركة قطرغاز للتشغيل المحدودة (قطرغاز)، بتسليم أول شحنة غاز طبيعي مسال على متن ناقلة «كيوماكس» (Q-Max) إلى محطة زيبروغ لتسلّم الغاز الطبيعي المسال في بلجيكا، لتسجل بذلك أول شحنة تُفرّغ فيها ناقلة من طراز «كيوماكس» من الغاز الطبيعي المسال في هذه المحطة. وقد تم تحميل هذه الشحنة في محطة راس لفان بدولة قطر في 22 يونيو 2019 على متن الناقلة «الدفنة» من طراز «كيوماكس»، وتم تفريغها في 22 يوليو. وتحتفل شركة قطرغاز كذلك بتسليم شحنة أخرى إلى عدة محطات، ليرتفع بذلك إجمالي عدد عمليات التسليم إلى عدة موانئ نفّذتها الشركة في عام 2019 إلى 8 شحنات. وقد شهدت هذه العملية تسليم أول شحنة من الغاز الطبيعي المسال إلى محطة زيبروغ، وتسليم شحنة أخرى إلى محطة ساوث هوك لتسلّم الغاز الطبيعي المسال في المملكة المتحدة.

بهذه المناسبة، صرّح الشيخ خالد بن خليفة آل ثاني -الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة قطرغاز- قائلاً: «إننا في (قطرغاز) نولي اهتماماً كبيراً للتطوير المستمرّ لمفهوم عمليات تسليم شحنات غازنا الطبيعي المسال إلى عدة موانئ ومحطات، وتقديمها لعملائنا الكرام في جميع أنحاء العالم؛ إذ سيتيح هذا لعملائنا المرونة والموثوقية ويساعدهم في تلبية طلبهم على غاز طبيعي يحترق بشكل نظيف، كما أنه يعمل في الوقت ذاته على تعزيز مرونة الإمدادات».

ومن جانبه، صرّح السيد باسكال دي باك -الرئيس التنفيذي والعضو المنتدب لمجموعة البنية التحتية للغاز «فلوكسيس» (وهي الجهة المالكة والمشغّلة لمحطة زيبروغ لتسلّم الغاز الطبيعي المسال)- قائلاً: «إن عملية تسليم هذه الشحنة على متن ناقلة (كيوماكس) تعكس مدى التنوع والمرونة اللذين نقدّمهما لعملائنا، من خلال ناقلات الغاز الطبيعي المسال بشتى أنواعها وأحجامها، والتي يمكنها الرسوّ في المحطات، بالإضافة إلى قدراتها الكبيرة لسحب الغاز عبر الأنابيب لتسليم الشحنات في جميع أنحاء شمال غرب أوروبا، وتتيح مجموعة من الخيارات لتوزيع الغاز الطبيعي المسال ونقله على المستوى المحلي».

جرت العادة في صناعة الغاز الطبيعي المسال بتسليم شحنة واحدة من الغاز الطبيعي المسال إلى محطة واحدة؛ لكن شركة قطرغاز تصدّرت الريادة وحققت هذا الإنجاز المميّز باستخدام أكبر ناقلة للغاز الطبيعي المسال في العالم، وهي ناقلة من طراز «كيوماكس» تبلغ حمولتها 266 ألف متر مكعب، التي تسمح حمولتها بتسليم شحنتين كاملتين بحجم الناقلة التقليدية إلى عدة موانئ وعملاء في رحلة واحدة
