Qatar Rail launches ‘metroexpress’
“الريل” تعلن عن إطلاق خدمة “مترو إكسبرس”
Doha: As part of its initiative to provide a seamless transportation experience to and from the metro stations, Qatar Rail has announced the launch of its on-demand ride-sharing pilot, metroexpress, in West Bay.
The free trial ride-sharing service provides metro users with quick and convenient access to DECC and West Bay QIC metro stations (and therefore other stations on the Metro) from points of interest in West Bay, and vice versa.
metroexpress can be booked through the designated app (on iOS or Android). The programme accepts multiple passengers’ bookings heading in the same direction and pools them into shared vehicles, using an advanced algorithm that calculates the most direct route possible without lengthy detours, or inconvenient fixed routes and schedules.
The new metroexpress on-demand service operates Sunday to Thursday from 06:00 – 23:00.
This service is exclusive for Doha Metro passengers registered with Qatar Rail and can be only used in conjunction with a metro ride. The service is offered, for now, on a complimentary basis to encourage the use of the Metro.
The service will contribute to the reduction in the number of private vehicles on the road, and therefore less carbon emissions, and provides an alternative to users who usually face issues with finding parking in the West Bay area.
أعلنت شركة سكك الحديد القطرية “الريل” عن إطلاق خدمة “مترو إكسبرس” التجريبية لمستخدمي المترو في منطقة الخليج الغربي، وذلك في إطار جهود الشركة لتقديم حلول نقل متكاملة لركاب مترو الدوحة، حيث تقوم خدمة “مترو إكسبرس” على التوصيل المشترك للركاب عند الطلب في منطقة الخليج الغربي عبر حجزها من خلال التطبيق المخصص.
وقد تم تصميم تطبيق خدمة “مترو إكسبرس” ليمكن مستخدمي المترو من استخدام الهاتف الجوال لطلب سيارة تنقلهم من أماكن محددة بالخليج الغربي إلى محطة مركز الدوحة للمعارض والمؤتمرات ومحطة الخليج الغربي قطر للتأمين، والعكس.
ويقوم التطبيق بحجز مقاعد في مركبة واحدة لعدة ركاب المتجهين لوجهة واحدة ومن خلال برمجية متصلة بنظام ملاحة يوجه سائق المركبة ليصل للركاب في الزمان والمكان المطلوبين، سالكًا أقصر الطرق الممكنة.
وسيتم توفير هذه الخدمة التجريبية بشكل مجاني وذلك لتشجيع الركاب على استخدام خدمة “مترو إكسبرس” وقياس مدى فعالية هذه الخدمة والإقبال عليها.
جدير بالذكر أن الخدمة حصرية لركاب مترو الدوحة المسجلين لدى شركة “الريل” ويمكن استخدامها بالتزامن مع القيام برحلة على متن القطار فقط.
وتعمل خدمة “مترو إكسبرس” خلال ساعات عمل مترو الدوحة الحالية وهي من الساعة السادسة صباحاً حتى الساعة الحادية عشرة ليلاً ، حيث ستسهم هذه الخدمة في تقليل عدد السيارات الخاصة وتقليل المشاكل المتعلقة بمواقف السيارات في منطقة الخليج الغربي والحد من الوقت المهدر على الطرقات.
