National Museum of Qatar launches summer programme

Doha: The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) launched a series of workshops and demonstrations to celebrate the important role of traditional crafts in Qatar. Taking inspiration from the objects on display in the museum galleries, the workshops focus on design and decorative patterns that are typical of local craftsmanship and integral to Qatari identity.
Running until August 8, 2019 the NMoQ Summer Programme encourages residents and visitors to discover Qatar’s history through its traditions and the crafts that Qatari people used to make during the summer months while living by the coast. Jewellery making, Al Khous (palm weaving), gypsum carving, net and rope making are some of the crafts that attendees will have the opportunity to learn during the workshops.
The series of workshops was developed by NMoQ as part of its wide variety of exciting and engaging learning activities available to the public throughout the year. The museum hosts quarterly public events to ensure a dynamic and ever-changing cultural offering to multiple audiences.
Talks and discussions for adults and students, practical art and design workshops, family weekend drop-in activities, along with special evening performances and courses, are just some of the upcoming initiatives for 2019. For more information on NMoQ education program visit: http://nmoq.org.qa
The NMoQ Summer Programme has been developed by the Learning Department at the National Museum of Qatar.
The programme is part of Summer in Qatar, developed by Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) in partnership with Qatar Museums and many other established entities in Qatar. Summer in Qatar will run until August 16, 2019 introducing a wide range of exciting indoor and outdoor experiences, along with entertainment programs featuring local, regional and international artists, edutainment, summer and sports camps as well as special promotions on inbound travel, hospitality and shopping.

أطلق متحف قطر الوطني سلسلة من ورش العمل والعروض الخاصة بالصناعات اليدوية للاحتفاء بالدور المهم الذي تلعبه الحرف التقليدية في المجتمع القطري.
وتركّز ورش العمل على الحرف التقليدية التي تتميز بتصاميم وأنماط تشكل جزءاً لا يتجزأ من الهوية القطرية، كما تستلهم الورش مواضيعها من القطع المعروضة في صالات العرض بالمتحف.
ويُشجّع البرنامج الصيفي- الذي تُشرف عليه إدارة التعليم بمتحف قطر الوطني ويستمر حتى 8 أغسطس المقبل- السكان والزوار على حد سواء على استكشاف تاريخ قطر والاطلاع عن كثب على الحرف والصناعات اليدوية التي مارسها أهل قطر في المناطق الساحلية خلال أشهر الصيف. وتشمل هذه الورش صناعة المجوهرات وصناعة الخوص (سعف النخيل)، والزخرفة الجبسية وصناعة الشباك والحبال وغيرها من الحرف والصناعات التقليدية التي يُمكن للحاضرين تعلّمها.
وقد تم تصميم سلسلة ورش العمل من قبل متحف قطر الوطني كجزء من مجموعة واسعة من الأنشطة التعليمية المفيدة والتفاعلية المتاحة للجمهور على مدار العام، حيث يستضيف المتحف أنشطة وفعاليات فصلية عامة لضمان تقديم عرض ثقافي حيوي ومتغير لعدة شرائح ولجمهور متنوع. كما تعقد محاضرات وحلقات نقاشية للكبار والطلاب وورش عمل عملية في مجال الفن والتصميم وأنشطة نهاية الأسبوع العائلية، فضلاً عن العروض المسائية الخاصة والدورات التدريبية.
