Qatar Airways wins ‘Best Airline of the Year’ for record fifth time

Doha: Qatar Airways have won four prestigious prizes at this year’s 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards, including the highest accolade of ‘World’s Best Airline’ – becoming the only airline in the competition’s history to win it five times (2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2019).

The airline has been named ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’ for a third successive year, while its ‘World’s Best Business Class’ accolade is the fourth year in succession that it has won that award. In retaining its ‘World’s Best Business Class Seat’ award for its patented Qsuite product, the airline beat strong competition from all over the world.

Minister of Transport and Communications, H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, who attended the Skytrax Awards ceremony, said: “This is a great day for the state of Qatar, and I am delighted to have been here today to witness Qatar Airways being recognised as the ‘Best Airline of the Year’ for the fifth time”.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, – who was accompanied by Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport, Badr Al Meer, said: “The Skytrax awards are widely recognised as the most prestigious in the airline industry, so to have won so many prizes at the 2019 ceremony is a truly memorable experience for Qatar Airways.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards are independent and impartial, introduced in 1999 to provide a customer satisfaction study that was truly global. Travellers across the world vote in the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide the award winners. The awards are referred to by media around the world as “the Oscars of the aviation industry”.

Skytrax pays all costs of the Survey and Awards event, and airlines do not pay any entry or registration fee. The awards event and award presentations are supplied by Skytrax at no charge. There are no fees or costs for airline use of the award logos and results. More than 100 customer nationalities participated in the survey with 21.65 million eligible entries counted in the results. Survey entries were screened by Skytrax to identify IP and user information, with duplicate, suspect or ineligible entries deleted. More than 300 airlines are featured.

Qsuite, a patented Qatar Airways product, offers a First Class experience in the Business Class cabin. Qsuite features the industry’s first-ever double bed in Business Class, as well as privacy panels that stow away, allowing passengers in adjoining seats to create their own private room, a first of its kind in the industry.

Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA) to more than 160 destinations worldwide. The airline will add a number of new destinations to its extensive route network in 2019, including Davao, Philippines; Lisbon, Portugal; Mogadishu, Somalia and Langkawi, Malaysia.

أعلنت الخطوط الجوية القطرية عن فوزها بأربع جوائز خلال حفل توزيع جوائز سكاي تراكس العالمية 2019، بما في ذلك الجائزة الأعلى تصنيفاً وتقديراً في قطاع الطيران عالمياً، وهي جائزة أفضل شركة طيران في العالم. وأصبحت الناقلة الوطنية لدولة قطر شركة الطيران الوحيدة في تاريخ سكاي تراكس التي تنال جائزة أفضل شركة طيران في العالم خمس مرات، وذلك في أعوام 2011 و2012 و2015 و2017 و2019.

كما حصدت الناقلة القطرية جائزة أفضل شركة طيران في الشرق الأوسط للعام الثالث على التوالي، وجائزة أفضل درجة رجال أعمال في العالم للعام الرابع على التوالي، وحافظت على جائزة أفضل مقعد على درجة رجال الأعمال عن مقاعد كيو سويت. وشهدت القطرية منافسة قوية للفوز بهذه الجوائز من قبل العديد من شركات الطيران العالمية.

ولدى حضوره حفل توزيع الجوائز، أمس، قال سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي، وزير المواصلات والاتصالات لدولة قطر: «إنه يوم عظيم بالنسبة لدولة قطر، ويسرّني أن أتواجد هنا لحضور هذا الحفل الذي تم الإعلان خلاله عن تتويج الخطوط الجوية القطرية بجائزة أفضل شركة طيران في العالم للمرة الخامسة في تاريخها».

الأكثر رقياً وتميزاً

وتعليقاً على هذا الإنجاز التاريخي للناقلة القطرية، قال سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية؛ الذي رافقه المهندس بدر محمد المير، الرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات في مطار حمد الدولي: «تشتهر جوائز سكاي تراكس العالمية بأنها أكثر الجوائز رقياً وتميّزاً في قطاع الطيران العالمي، ويسعدنا الفوز بهذا العدد من الجوائز خلال حفل عام 2019».

أفضل شركة طيران

من جانبه، قال السيد إدوارد بلايستد من «سكاي تراكس»: «إن الفوز بجائزة أفضل شركة طيران في العالم يعدّ شاهداً على التزام الخطوط الجوية القطرية بتطبيق أعلى المعايير، ودليلاً على الجهود الاستثنائية التي يبذلها موظفو الشركة لتقديم تجربة سفر استثنائية تلبي تطلعات المسافرين. وأودّ التقدم بأحرّ التهاني للخطوط الجوية القطرية على الفوز بهذه الجائزة الذي يعد إنجازاً بحد ذاته».

تجدر الإشارة إلى أن جوائز سكاي تراكس العالمية هي جوائز مستقلة ومحايدة، جرى إطلاقها للمرة الأولى في عام 1999. ويدلي المسافرون من شتى أنحاء العالم بأصواتهم من خلال استطلاع خاص لقياس مدى رضاهم عن تجربة سفرهم جواً، ومن ثم اختيار الفائزين من شركات الطيران العالمية. وتشتهر هذه الجوائز من قبل وسائل الإعلام العالمية بأنها «جوائز الأوسكار لقطاع الطيران».

وتتحمل «سكاي تراكس» جميع تكاليف الاستطلاع والجوائز، ولا تدفع شركات الطيران رسوماً للدخول أو للتسجيل في الجوائز. كما تتحمل «سكاي تراكس» تكاليف حفل توزيع وتقديم الجوائز، ولا تتحمل شركات الطيران أية تكلفة عن استخدام شعارات الجوائز أو النتائج. وشارك مسافرون من ما يزيد عن 100 جنسية في الاستطلاع، مع احتساب 21.65 مليون صوت لاختيار الفائزين. وراقبت «سكاي تراكس» جميع الأصوات المشاركة من خلال تحديد عنوان بروتوكول الإنترنت الـ»آي. بي» ومعلومات المصوتين، مع حذف جميع الأصوات المكررة أو المشتبه بها أو غير المؤهلة. وشهدت عملية التصويت مشاركة 300 شركة طيران من حول العالم.
