‘Qatar 2030 aims to balance innovation and sustainability’

The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H E Lulwa Al Khater, yesterday participated in a panel titled “Driving Innovation”, which took place during the ESTM Berlin Annual Forum in Berlin.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the State of Qatar aims to balance innovation and sustainability, as part of its 2030 vision. She affirmed that the State of Qatar believes that its wealth and resources should last for the generations to come.
Al Khater pointed Qatar’s early investments in LNG technology, which was a risky bid, but turned out to be a source of clean energy that is critical to the entire world. She also discussed how Ras Abu Aboud Stadium is an example of architectural innovation and suitability, stating that the new stadium is being constructed with recyclable materials that will be used in other friendly countries in the future.
Al Khater added that the State of Qatar dedicates 2.5 percent of its annual GDP for Research & Development to encourage and support this key sector. She discussed the Singaporean and Norwegian economic models that thrived without depending on the hydrocarbons sector, which is the aim of the State of Qatar.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored Qatar’s firm belief that education is key to economic growth and innovation.
She spoke about education city, arguing that it is now a regional hub for quality higher education in the region. She pointed out also the work of “Education Above All” foundation, which has secured financial commitments to educate 10 million children around the globe.
The panel featured Roland Busch, Member of the Board of Management at Siemens, Doris Hopke, Member of the Board of Management at Munich Re, Karl von Rohr, Member of the Board of Management, Deutsche Bank, and Dr. Stefan Wagner, Associate Professor of Strategy and Director of PhD Studies at ESMT Berlin.
شاركت سعادة السيدة لولوة الخاطر المتحدث الرسمي باسم وزارة الخارجية، في جلسة نقاشية بعنوان “قيادة الابتكار” والتي عقدت ضمن فعاليات المنتدى السنوي لمعهد برلين للإدارة والتكنولوجيا في العاصمة الألمانية برلين.
وأكدت المتحدث الرسمي باسم وزارة الخارجية في الجلسة، أن دولة قطر تشجع الابتكار كأحد أهم عوامل النهوض بالاقتصاد وتحويله إلى اقتصاد قائم على المعرفة، ولكنها في نفس الوقت تأخذ في الحسبان توازن الابتكار والاستدامة حتى لا تنضب الثروات وتستفيد منها الأجيال القادمة، وهو ما نصت عليه رؤية دولة قطر 2030.
وفي هذا السياق، أشارت سعادتها إلى استثمار دولة قطر المبكر في تكنولوجيا الغاز المسال القطري والذي يعتبر طاقة نظيفة مقارنة بالمشتقات الهيدروكربونية الأخرى ويعد الآن أحد أهم مصادر الطاقة عالمياً، وإلى استاد راس بوعبود، الذي يتم بناؤه من مواد معاد تدويرها، وسيتم تفكيكه وإعادة استخدامه في مشاريع رياضية في الدول الصديقة، مما يجعله نموذجاً للاستدامة في المعمار.
وأضافت أن دولة قطر خصصت 2.5% من الناتج المحلي السنوي لقطاع البحوث، حرصاً منها على دعم وتشجيع هذا المجال، ولفتت النظر إلى النموذجين النرويجي والسنغافوري اللذين استطاعا بناء اقتصاد قوي دون الاعتماد على المشتقات الهيدروكربونية، وهو ما تطمح إليه دولة قطر.
وقالت سعادة السيدة لولوة الخاطر، إن دولة قطر تؤمن بأن التعليم هو العمود الأساسي للنهضة الاقتصادية والابتكار، وانعدامه يعد أحد جذور المشاكل المتراكمة في المنطقة، لذا فإنها استثمرت في تطوير التعليم وجعلت من المدينة التعليمية قبلة لقاصدي التعليم العالي النوعي في المنطقة، مشيرة إلى التزام مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع بتعليم 10 ملايين طفل حول العالم في المناطق الفقيرة والمتأثرة بالنزاعات والكوارث الطبيعية.
شارك في الجلسة النقاشية السيد رولاند بستش، عضو مجلس إدارة شركة سيمنز، والسيدة دوريس هوبكي، عضو مجلس إدارة شركة ميونخ ري، والسيد كارل فون رور، عضو مجلس إدارة بنك دويتشه الألماني، والسيد ستيفن واجنر، أستاذ مشارك ورئيس قسم الدكتوراه في معهد برلين للإدارة والتكنولوجيا.
