ADLSA Organizes “Speaking Hands” Workshop

Doha: The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) represented by the Family Affairs Department, in cooperation with the Qatari Center of Social Cultural for the Deaf, organized a workshop entitled “Speaking Hands” coinciding with the International Day of the Deaf, which falls on Sept. 19 of each year.
The workshop highlighted the role of the Qatari Center of Social Cultural for the Deaf, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in raising awareness of deaf individuals and speakers of the deaf community and spreading the culture of sign language. It also stressed the importance of sign language, its role and the extent of its spread in Qatari society. Also, it addressed ways to rehabilitate the deaf to have equal opportunities with all members of society.
The workshop reviewed various success stories of deaf personalities, their experiences with their families, and how to learn sign language from a young age.
The organization of this workshop comes to activate the competence of the Family Affairs Department in implementing national strategies, plans and policies related to persons with disabilities, and to raise society’s awareness of family and social updates and issues, their effects and ways to prevent them, in addition to organizing conferences, seminars and workshops to discuss all issues of persons with disabilities.

الدوحة: نظمت وزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية متمثلة في إدارة شؤون الأسرة، وبالتعاون مع المركز القطري الثقافي الاجتماعي للصم، ورشة بعنوان: /الأيدي الناطقة/ تزامناً مع اليوم العالمي للصم الذي يوافق 19 سبتمبر من كل عام.
وخلال الورشة تم التعريف بالمركز القطري الثقافي الاجتماعي للصم، التابع لوزارة الثقافة والرياضة ودوره في توعية الأفراد من الصم والناطقين بمجتمع الصم ونشر ثقافة لغة الإشارة. كما أكدت على أهمية لغة الإشارة ودورها ومدى انتشارها في المجتمع القطري، وتناولت طرق تأهيل الصم وأساليب حصولهم على فرص متكافئة مع أفراد المجتمع كافة.
واستعرضت الورشة قصص نجاح مختلفة لشخصيات من فئة الصم وتجاربهم مع عائلتهم وكيفية تعلم لغة الإشارة منذ الصغر، كما شهدت تفاعلا مميزا من الحضور، لاسيما في تبادل بعض إشارات التواصل البسيطة ليستخدمها السامع مع الأصم.
يأتي تنظيم هذه الورشة تفعيلاً لاختصاص إدارة شؤون الأسرة في تنفيذ الاستراتيجيات والخطط والسياسات الوطنية المتعلقة بالأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة وزيادة وعي المجتمع بالتحديثات والقضايا الأسرية والاجتماعية، وآثارها وطرق الوقاية منها، بالإضافة إلى تنظيم المؤتمرات والندوات وورش العمل لمناقشة كافة قضايا الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة.
