MIA kicks off annual Ramadan programme

Doha: To mark the Holy month of Ramadan, the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) has kicked off its annual Ramadan programme, which offers community members a chance to take part in art workshops and events, in addition to family activities from May 8 to May 18.

Community members can join a Calligraphy course in Nasta’liq starting from May 13, from 10am to 12pm.

For members looking for evening classes after Iftar, a three-day Clay Art workshop for adults will be held from May 12 to 14, from 8:30pm to 10:30pm. On May 13 and 14, another workshop will also be delivered by Qatari photographer Abdulla Al Mannai. This workshop will focus on the importance of light in portrait and landscape photography.

MIA’s Library is hosting a new exhibition dedicated to the Holy Quran, titled “The Holy Quran in Many Languages”. The exhibition features various displays of historic and contemporary copies of Surat al-Baqarah, Verse 183-187 from the Quran in different languages. The exhibition concludes on July 31, 2019.

MIA is also working with the International Artists of Doha (IAD) group, a non-profit group created for artists residing in Doha, where one artist will attend each evening and create pieces of art in the atrium under the theme “Light in Ramadan.” Visitors are invited to come and observe the process and engage with the artist to find out about their inspiration and style.

In addition, MIA is also organising evenings of engaging drop-in family activities, including a Ramadan Treasure Trail, Card and Bookmark making, Cut Out Ka’ba, Prayer mat paper weaving and lantern making.
All activities are available from 8:30pm to 10:30pm on May 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15.

Evening Ramadan-themed tours will be available for MIA’s visitors every Monday and Thursday at 9:30pm. General tours of the Permanent galleries will be offered on Saturdays and Tuesdays at the same time.

أطلق متحف الفن الإسلامي أمس برنامجه السنوي الرمضاني، وذلك بمناسبة الشهر الفضيل، ويتضمن ورشًا وأنشطة فنية وترفيهية للأطفال والكبار والعائلات، ويتواصل حتى 18 مايو الجاري.

يقدم المتحف ورشًا صباحية حول فن الخط العربي لطلاب المدارس وأفراد المجتمع من الساعة ابتداء من 13 مايو من الساعة 10 صباحًا إلى 12 ظهرًا.

وعلى مدار ثلاثة أيام من 12 إلى 14 مايو ، سينظم متحف الفن الإسلامي ورشًا مسائية للكبار حول فن تشكيل الصلصال، بدءًا من الساعة 8:30 مساء حتى الساعة 10:30 مساء،كما يقدم المصور عبدالله المناعي ورشة حول أهمية الضوء في تصوير البورتريه واللاند سكيب من الساعة 9:00 مساء إلى الساعة 11:00 مساء.

كما ينظم متحف الفن الإسلامي معرضًا قرآنيًا في مكتبة متحف الفن الإسلامي بعنوان “القرآن الكريم بلغات عدة”، ويعرض فيه نسخ تاريخية وعصرية للآيات رقم 183-187من سورة البقرة بلغات عدة.

ويتعاون متحف الفن الإسلامي مع “مجموعة الفنانين الدوليين في الدوحة”، وهي مجموعة غير ربحية للفنانين المقيمين في دولة قطر، لتقديم عدد من الأمسيات الفنية لزوار المتحف، يشارك فيها فنان واحد لكل أمسية لصنععمل فنيبردهة المتحف تحت شعار “النور”.

وبالإضافة لذلك، ينظم متحف الفن الإسلامي العديد من الأمسيات العائلية الجذابة مثل البحث عن الكنز، وجلسات التلوين للأطفال، واستخدام صورة الكعبة، وصناعة سجادة صلاة ورقية، وصناعة الفوانيس. وتُقام هذه الأنشطة، التي تستمرلمدة ساعتين، أيام 7 و9 و11 و13 و15 و17 و19 مايو من الساعة 8:30 إلى 10:30 مساء.

وستتاح الجولات الإرشادية الرمضانية في متحف الفن الإسلامي يومي الاثنين والخميس بداية من الساعة 9:30 مساء. أما الجولات الإرشادية في معارض المتحف الدائمة، فستكون أيام السبت والثلاثاء في نفس التوقيت.
